Sharon Stone played another manipulative femme fatale in The Specialist. She pushed the buttons of characters played by James Woods, Sylvester Stallone and Eric Roberts.

I'm from a country called Nepal where people believe girls are only the victim of rape. But I was also tortured and sexually abused by my female teacher, I was 12 years old back then. I was tortured for 6 months and I tried to complain to my other teachers but no one believed me...and till now she is still teaching in the same damn school and I hope she is not doing such things to other students.

"Brick", the real deal, one of the best neo-noirs. "GoldenEye", another entry in the endless James Bond catalog. No woman can ever bring harm to 007. Not a legitimate femme-fatale. "LA Confidential" is perhaps the best neo-noir next to "Chinatown" and Basinger certainly deserved her Oscar. While director Hanson uses Lynn Bracken to fill the traditional femme-fatale role, ultimately she redeems not destroys her male protagonist. Ridley Scott brought the best and the deepest sci-fi neo-noir to the big screen. Notice how Sean Young is a perfect, although robotic, femme-fatale figure right down to her strikingly red lips smoking a cigarette in the beginning of the film. Her character changes as she becomes more self-aware and while she is responsible for Deckard actually feeling some emotion the ending leaves their future together problematic. Christopher Nolan calls "Inception" neo-noir so who is this cineast to argue. "Femme Fatale" is an underrated gem directed by an auteur very comfortable working within the neo-noir style. While Kidman gives an excellent performance and Buck Henry did the screenplay, "To Die For" is a black comedy, not neo-noir. "The Last Seduction" is classic neo-noir and Linda Fiorentino is a classic femme-fatale. The screen sizzles during a viewing of the modern remake of "Double Indemnity", "Body Heat". This role made Kathleen Turner a star as she plays a classic femme-fatale without the restrictions imposed by the Hays Code. Poor William Hurt, who plays the inept lawyer Ned Racine, never has a chance during their "romance". The true noirish ending is a treat. "Basic Instinct" is a joke with Sharon Stone heading the list of femme-fatales. "Blue Velvet" is a vastly superior film. However, the number one femme-fatale of the neo-noir style is Academy Award nominee as Best Actress, Faye Dunaway as Evelyn Mulwray in "Chinatown". The film itself is a masterpiece which was nominated for 11 Oscars. Screenwriter Robert Towne took home the statuette but it was Polanski's rewrite of the ending which leaves one with the indelible feeling of sadness. In the real world, which neo-noir is so good at exposing, corruption always wins.

Lynn Bracken isn't seductive - she's cold, aloof and emotionally distant. Femme fatales are seductive.

Does anyone know? I remember this movie about 2 cops visiting a house where something has happened. Can be a break in or murder, I don't remember. In my memory the two cops are Kurt Russell and Robert Davi. The "victim" is this beautifull woman and off course Kurt Russell fals in love with her. She pretends falling in love with him too, so that makes her a femme fatale. The movie must have been sometime in the 80's. What I do remember might be crucial: Kurt Russell drives a white Porsche Carrera or 911 that has only a black tyre shield at the back of the car! If I remember well, his name was Nick in the movie and I remember a scene where she stands in a silk robe on the spiral staircase in her house saying: "But Nick, I love you.........." Hope somebody knows the name of this movie. Again, I don't know for sure if the actors playing cops were Kurt Russell and Robert Davi. Can also be only one of them. The white Porsche with the black tyre shield I know for sure. (If it wasn't a Volkwagen) Ha, Ha.

You got the number 1 right. However, Kathryn Merteuil from Cruel intentions should've taken number 2. Catwoman (Michelle Fifer) at number 3. Mystique at number 4. Regina George at 5.

Male seducers exist especially in movies, they just get called "playas" instead of sluts.

they would be called 'homme fatale' - dangerous/fatal man. Think James Bond type of a man.

MrDueltube (2 years ago)
Oh Eva Green as Ava Lord from Sin City A Dame to Kill For for sure...
valkerymillenia (2 years ago)
So....why is Black Widow not on this list?
GemmaYM (2 years ago)
+valkerymillenia I guess Black Widow doesn't really count if you think about her position in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A femme fatale is usually a seductive, evil woman who's in control of a criminal operation. If you look at 1940s film noirs like "Out of the Past", it's extremely obvious who the femme fatale is. I think Black Widow's situation is more complex than that.
valkerymillenia (2 years ago)
Marvel's Black Widow, but good catch ;)
GemmaYM (2 years ago)
+valkerymillenia The Marvel character Black Widow, or the 80s film Black Widow?

Where is Michele Pfeifer as Catwoman in Batman movie?
Jongen (5 months ago)
Not a woman, but a cat so not on the list.
Christopher Kendel (2 years ago)
Also, one of the best I've seen in modern cinema is Asami from Takashi Miike's Audition. It's a one of a kind movie and the deeply psychotic Asami fits with the idea of a femme fatale as she's both beautiful and sweet, all the while showing a hint of coming from a sad, tragic past of abuse. There is nothing initially sinister about her but as the movie progresses we learn she harbours a deeply disturbed, obsessive mind and once she gets close with a man, the idea of him leaving her is so devastating she'll go to some severe, sadistic lengths to make sure they never leave her.
Christopher Kendel (2 years ago)
You kind of mentioned Laura Harring's Rita/ Camilla Rhodes in Mulholland Drive (2001) but some other really honourable mentions would have been Alice/Renée in Lost Highway (1997), Corky and Violet in Bound (1996) and Simone in Mona Lisa (1986)
Adam Thomas (3 years ago)
I can't believe Eva Green didn't even get an honourable mention in this list - pretty much her entire career has seen her type-cast as a femme fatale. Also Sarah Michele Gellar in Cruel Intentions (which I'm aware is based on Dangerous Liasons).
emre kayhan (3 years ago)
Reichenfaust099 (3 years ago)
Geena Davis, in The Long Kiss Goodnight, doesn't even get a goddamn honourable mention, even as a badass CIA Assassin. You Guys suck.
Reichenfaust099 (3 years ago)
She's also a Malady... Mal from Inception.
T Mertens (3 years ago)
This is a bit of a jumbled-up mess...bits and pieces thrown together.
Mackendy TERMÉLUS (3 years ago)
And what about Charlie Baltimore (Geena Davis in Long Kiss Goodbye)? Not even an honorable mention. I'm shocked!!!
Connie Smith (3 years ago)
How does La Femme Nikita not get included? The original 1990 French version not the bad American remakes.
guisreis (3 years ago)
Xenia Onatopp should be in the top, not in the 9th place! In Blade Runner, Pris would be a much better choice than Rachael in my opinion. Femme fatale's diamond steal is a quite memorable footage, it would be impossible not to put them in! Bridget Gregory and Catherine Tramell obviously deserve to be in this list. I would never include many characters present in it, though. Besides that, Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman and Milla Jovovich in "Stone" are names that could not be absent. There are only movies spoken in English; you should also include Angie Cepeda in Peruvian film "Pantaleon and the visitors".

Mona Demarkov (Lena Olin) in "Romeo is Bleeding." Pure sociopathic evil. I actually disagree with putting "Basic Instinct" on this list, because the movie never pins Sharon Stone with guilt for anything.
Boby Ce (3 years ago)
My top 3 : Both Denise Richards and Neve Campbell in Sexcrime deserve to be in the a top 3. And Sarah Michele Gellar as 1st place in cruel intentions.
