Where is the most beautiful actress of all time??? and she was a good actress too, GENE TIERNEY https://youtu.be/b17FYkbB6tY
Ms Maahlley (13 days ago)
Jean Harlow should be more than a mention! And what about Clara Bow, Frances Farmer, Norma Shearer, Danielle Darrieux, Talulah Bankhead, Lucille Ball, Gloria Grahame, Hedy Lamarr, Yvonne de Carlo, Rosalind Russell and CAROLE LOMBARD?
M Mansson (13 days ago)
Jean Harlow was the original blonde bombshell, not Marilyn!!! Monroe actually based her look on Harlow. Uncool mistake.
Stephen Golden (14 days ago)
I generally agree. I would have put Bette Davis first, and Audrey Hepburn fourth. Bette Davis, like Meryl Streep was a true chameleon as an actress. That, and her many fine films and nominations entitles her to number one. I am not sure Julie Andrews should be on the list, or that Grace Kelly should be off of it. I would have ranked Judy Garland much higher.
Jeff B (18 days ago)
Katherine Hepburn of course. "The Lion In Winter" is just superb.
TiffyGames (18 days ago)
What?? Bette Davis should be like #3 or #2
natalia castro (20 days ago)
julie andrew is not number 1? i mean sure there are others who are talented. BUT COME ON!!!
Dopey Gang (21 days ago)
When I see Marilyn I just fucking click it..♥️ but the fact that Marilyn was the first choice for breakfast at Tiffany’s just makes me wonder in dreams how fantastic it’d have been. But I also loved Audrey ❤️

I wish vivien Leigh were alive to do more films !! I mean come on the performance she gave in gwtw and streetcar should be considered the best, the absolute best, acting in the history of cinema. Period

Marilyn Monroe when she talks has softer voice: *Teete.. sisis tititutu..* When she sings she's a goddess: *Uguggnndaddaa* Sorry I can't explain better.

autumn The kid (3 months ago)
No Yvonne De Carlo😒
Vlodec (3 months ago)
Whoever compiled this list is actually deranged. Audrey Hepburn was very pretty, and made an excellent clothes horse; but an "Era Defining Actress"?? Ahead of Katherine Hepburn? Come to think of it, the compiler is just having a joke. No one's that demented.
The Ghost Hunter (3 months ago)

Watchmojo you should have broke it down by decade because their are more that you should’ve mentioned. Btw Joan Crawford should’ve been in the list
Céline Durand (4 months ago)
I love this top. Maybe I prefer Jean Harlow. I want to see Harlow number 2 or 1. She is the most beautiful blond platine in the cinema. I hate Marilyn Monroe because she is interesting for me !
Leonel Cabrera (4 months ago)
Bette Davis is my favorite
Stella L. (4 months ago)
Audrey hepurn is a good actress but she is not better than the rest of those actresses such as Julie Andrews, Judy garland, shirley temple! Did you hear the voice of those actresses I named ! Sorry but I desagree Audrey hepurn can not even sing or dance that is why her voice has been cut off my fair lady and has been replace !
Maya T (4 months ago)
Audrey is good but not no 1..plzz ....and why is Julie Andrews at no 9?
CatMan (4 months ago)
No I don't agree,Audrey Hepburn no.1?! Bette Davis should be no.1!Ingred Bergman no.3 over Bette?! Marilyn was the perfect dumb blonde, she was not a fine actress,Katherine would be up there too, even Joan Crawford, and Julie Andrews?!,she was ok for musicals, hell Betty Grable is still my favorite musical star not to mention the no.1 female box office champ of the 1940 s but no mention of her!
No Mae West? Well, I guess it was a bit hard to compete for these top spots.
Nigel Fox (5 months ago)
What about Joan Crawford , Mae West and Grace Kelly ????

How could they mention Marilyn Monroe without Jane Russell? Ava Gardner was also a beautiful actress.
Key Bern (5 months ago)
Hedy Lamar..
Barbara Last (5 months ago)
Audrey Hepburn #1? That was a surprise. I did notice, however, she was the #1 actress in American movies to the Chinese when I lived there 2010 to 2014.
Ms Maahlley (5 months ago)
Jean Harlow??? Come on! She is THE reason the 'blondetourage' even exists! She was both Marilyn and Madonnas inspiration and idol! One does not simply leave her out like this! Blasphemy! 👎
Dora Tomaš (5 months ago)
Love Audrey but Katherine is way much better
Elaine Snow (5 months ago)
Judy was phenomenally talented. Beautiful, too. Tragic life.
S. Braxton (5 months ago)
No Dorothy Dandridge? Her performance in Carmen was simply outstanding! Especially given the time period where African American's were only cast as maids, butlers, or slaves. And no Hattie McDaniels either? She was the first african american woman to actually win an award for her performance in Gone With The Wind! ...Come on now...
Киану Депп (5 months ago)
Ava Gardner ???
Киану Депп (5 months ago)
Veronica Lake ???

Tiana Pi Tesr (5 months ago)
Katherine Hepburn has her own list right?
Michael Michelle (5 months ago)
I was kinda nervous watchhng this! Great stars from the day are left out but the most deserving of them all is Bette Davis! She was a STAR and a fucking amazing legend on screen! With 10 nominations for the Oscar and would have been the first lady with 3 wins had it not been for Crawford! There is no one I love more and connect with on a spiritual level than her! I'm a huge TCM buff and when she was featured on the Star of the month holy shit she blew me away! Started watching her documentaries and that made me love and respect her more! Having her as number 4 is such an insult! She paved the way to such amazing talents for today such a Meryl Streep

My personal fav will always be Julie Andrew. That lady made my childhood and is the reason I love musicals to this day
caliprincess99 (6 months ago)
This was about era defining classic actresses and no one aside from possibly Marilyn Monroe would be as era defining and iconic as Audrey Hepburn so I was beyond ecstatic to see she was number 1. My only issue with the list was that I thought Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe should have been higher than they were.
Katie K. (6 months ago)
Grace Kelly number one or Marlene Dietrich
homhable (6 months ago)
Audrey was popular but certainly no Place 1! Her acting skills were quite limited, only a few of her movies turned into important classics while other actresses in this list had a whole bunch of them.
Brian Mayonnaise (6 months ago)
Ahem, that's DAME Julie Andrews!
Infinity Sims & more (6 months ago)
Marilyn Monroe is my queen! She is a goddess

Watched this video in hopes Audrey would come first, not disappointed! Though I do wish Grace Kelly was included as well
Nathaniel Schwartz (6 months ago)
Alex Grant (6 months ago)
where's Doris Day?
Julia Winters (6 months ago)
Watchmojo should do this video again and it should NOT be all the way up to 1969. What about Norma Shearer, Rosalind Russell, Deborah Kerr, Olivia de Havilland etc, etc. And Joan Crawford as an honorable mention?...Mildred Pierce would slap the shit out of you.
