Hi! I've been in the photography world as an amateur for 2.5 years but I spent a lot of time around photographers that were (as expected) all male. And what the Girl Gaze founder said about being a girl in a male industry really struck a cord in me because even though I felt like I was doing a good job a lot of the time, I would never hear a good word about it from my teachers. It really struck me as an injustice and when my photos were used for a job without any mention of a payment. Also, the nudes you see really tend to sexualise the woman's body and they really don't convey the true depth of our existence. Seeing that a lot of photographers have chosen to capture women as a sexual object has always been at least annoying and almost disgusting in some instances. It was when I saw Sally Man's work for the first time that I saw something different and trully artistic.
