Too gross. Too creepy. Too sad...or just too bad. Sometimes a film dishes out more than we can handle. Whether it's crazy camera work or unbearable scenes, there are plenty of reasons that audiences prematurely head to the exits. Here are a few films that were just too hard to sit through...
The Walk | 0:23
Freaks | 1:23
127 Hours | 2:40

I just walked out of the movie The Intruder yesterday where Dennis Quaid plays a psycho who sells his home to a young couple, but wouldn’t leave them alone. As predictable as that movie was, it totally creeped me out. I couldn’t take seeing Dennis Quaid play that role... lol! Just like I could never watch Denzel Washington play that character in Training Day. Weird huh?
Freaks is now considered a modern day classic and was actually selected for preservation by the National Film Registry in 1994.
Also,contrary to popular myth,the movie didn't destroy Browning's career.
I was led to believe that "Cloverfield" was a "Monster Movie" instead it was a movie with a "Monster" in it...and frankly, when they came out on DVD with a "Bonus 20 min" I felt gypped as I paid for first run viewing and should have gotten the full amount...
I think it was “It’s Pat,” the character created by some gal from SNL which was made into a “movie,” if you can call it that. My wife and I went in, and within 15 minutes, we walked. I actually asked for my money back and surprisingly got it. But it was a “principle thing.” It was so bad that I felt ripped off, mostly for my time. But that film had nothing. It was supposed to be a comedy I believe, but it had no humor. And it failed as a drama too. And it wasn’t even touching. It might be the worst film of all time, and I made it through part one of the “Human Centipede” series. At least the black-and-white filming on Centipede looked terrific, minus the whole humans-daisy-chained-back-to-front thing. I almost threw up.
I, had to walk out of the movie "Super Star" it keep putting me too sleep, twice the usher had to wake me b/c I was snoring, finally they offered me free popcorn, soda, my choice of another show or double ticket cost and leave . . . I watched "IJ Temple of Doom" ???
Anyone got sick watching the Ancient moving reality upside down and side to side in the first minutes of Doctor Strange? I was seated up close in an IMAX theater and really felt physically ill and disoriented for a few seconds following this scene! That was a first as I never felt sensitive to jerky/tricky camera movements.
So basically a bunch of weak stomached, weak minded pussies couldn't take watching some movies. Also, some theater goers walked out of some shitty movies. Cloverfield made people sick? Really? Vaginas!
Cloverfield a waste of film. Why I didn't watch john Goodman movie. That's the arrogance of Hollywood. People pay good money and get trash. I buy old movies I watched and like. Usually something I've seen at the library. Movie theaters no way. It's like playing the lottery. Pay a lot of money for nothing. And a box of overpriced stale popcorn with artificial butter that tastes like oil.
I could only sit through about 40 minutes of irreversible, I clicked off when "the scene" happened it was so stomach churning and disgusting and I just couldn't handle it one can only imagine what requiem for a dream or martyrs is like
What a pathetic list. Only 2000 plus movies are covered with the exception of Freaks. 127 is an excellent movie and the one scene was realistic but not gross out. How can they leave out the notoriously bad, "At Long Last Love"? Watching droves of audience members leaving was much more interesting than the awful modern musical. But it wasn't filled with CGIs so it's not of interest to Mojo. Pathetically narrow thinking by Mojo.
People walked out of irreversible because of the 20 something long rape scene. It was miles beyond too much for most. I worked for a distributor for the movie when it came out. Man the stories about that movie. Made me and I think most people skip that one.
THE RUINS having to personally mutilate yourself, in a place that if you try to leave locals shoot and kill you on site. Says on the cover this movie will make you SQUIRM, SCREAM, & BITE YOUR NAILS! SAW or SAW 2 which ever one the guy throws girl into pit of syringes, HELL THE *UCK NO! Original horror cult movies WAXWORKS, PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS, SILVER BULLET, they are my cringeworthy. Rob Zombie's HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES , THE HILLS HAVE EYES, or the 1st time you ever watch WRONG TURN, gets you everytime. THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK which I may be biased about because I live less than 20 mins from there, based on events that happened here and continues to happen here, based on true story. TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE that is one *ucked up movie, based on true story. Lastly another from my area based on true story THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN. These are the movies that catch me off guard, leave you in shock. The movies that truly get me are the ones based on true stories, real home invasions, crimes so unspeakable you just can't believe what you've just seen example EYE FOR AN EYE Sally Fields, Ed Harris, Kiefer Sutherland, & Eliza Dushku. That movie is so messed up, no person should have to go thru that. Lastly E.T. some of those scenes as a child the first time you see them SCARE THE *HIT out of you.
I walked out on one movie. Interview with the Vampire. When they got to the scene with Antonio Banderas and it looked like a real sacrifice in the church scene I said that's it. And I love movies with Banderas, Tom Cruise, and Brad Pitt. Actually a pretty good movie after seeing it on TV, but a few scenes are too creepy for me. I take the good and put aside the bad. As I do with people. Twilight franchise to me is 100% better. Cute kids, not creepy.
Years ago I saw Pee Wee's big adventure in the theater. The place was so packed when me and my buddy walked in we had a difficult time finding a seat. By the time it was over, half of the audience had walked out. My buddy told me he only stayed because he thought I might be enjoying it. I told him the same. And then, years later, there was the masturbation scene in Bad Lieutenant, which caused a good portion of the theater to get up and walk out.
You are 100% incorrect. Not being a dick just letting you know that all 3 are definitely connected, and “paradox” is an origins story, or “prequel” if you will..but clover field lane and paradox kinda fucking suck.. in my opinion.
I make a point of avoiding any films by Darren Aronovsky, Baz Luhrmann, Paul Thomas Anderson and Lars Von Trier, because they make such pretentious, self indulgent shit that I literally want to puke. Freaks, on the other hand, was about 80 years ahead of its time and is now generally considered a masterpiece.
My mother suffered from vertigo and she had to close her eyes during the flying sequences for the movie version of "Jonathan Livingston Seagull". She also got seasick at Six Flags once while aboard a concrete ship cemented to the bottom of an artificial lagoon because the water was in motion. Strangely, she never had difficulties fishing with dad in a motorboat when she was actually bobbing around.
