America leads the world in obesity, drug addiction, depression and sexual deviancy .. we have so much to learn from India.. I personally have been meditating and studying the Kundalini.. I think there's more Americans did this we would have less of those problems

Many of the Americans are not doing yoga in correct sequence and they are still not aware of what being a Yogi is. Many Indians are ashamed of doing yoga, calling it old fashioned and mediocre. We're blindly following doomed American culture. It's a high time we again start to give respect to our culture, religion, and languages. How can we become original if we're everytime following somebody else's culture and language. Many Indians still can't speak 2 minutes in English then what's the use of learning it for many many years.

I love Indian traditional clothing and I collect all the varieties. So lively and vibrant!!

There is nothing wrong in wearing nice pair of blue jeans. It doesn't differentiate between rich and poor in fact it shows more of equality. It is very practical less time consuming and easy to maintain and to travel with. Sorry I am not against your point of view. Only that Indian clothes need lot of material lot of time and excess baggage while traveling and also investing a lot of money to buy variety of clothes.

Someone needs to take initiative and consider Indian traditional clothes as formals or office formals, they think wearing buttoned down shirt and tie in 35 celsius weather is civilised what a bunch of idiots, and then use air conditioner and harm the environment as well as empty the pockets by paying the bill, where's the smartness in that

I don't use. I am italien (europe). The jeans were invented in genova a city on sea in Italy many centuries ago for the workers in the port because the tissue last longer. After becam the jeans used everywere. But in my country until the 1970's only workers in the factories used them and at home they used comfortable clothes. But now many use them every moment. No good for health.

its an old philosophy.. things have changed.. Us is not the leader that saduguru's generation used to see.. China has overtaken in most aspects.. the world has become so small due to today's communication system that not only we learn or immitate other developed countries, they too learn and try to take something from us.. its just your internal acceptance to change.. take the things that are good and leave the unworthy behind..

Saree is a very uncomfortable dress.can a women run by wearing a saree,There is don't even a space to keep a cell phone and if I look back into my culture(I am from kerala)there was no saree.
So the dumbest thing I hear is they only talk saree and dhoti as alternatives. There are pyjamas, salwars, and I don't know what else. So jeans is more comfortable than pyjamas and salwars? Maybe you never wore one.
Siddharth Prasad (7 months ago)
Sadhguru's Funniest And Wittiest clips I should be a sprinter if a mad dog chases or to catch a bus and why is everyone wearing jeans because it is a comfortable dress.
So you are like a sprinter? Or marathon runner. Even Sadhguru wears Jeans when he has to. The question he asked was Why is *everyone* wearing jeans?
Chethan Burre (7 months ago)
I wear jeans, corduroy & chino's because they're comfortable. It's got very less to do with Style & NOTHING to do with being American. And I DON'T tear my pants. And these Indian weaves as you speak, I would give it a try :) And the whole concept of wearing an uniform is specific to it's area. Sure, in American mines etc, it's an uniform. But at other places, it's just clothing. A lot of schools & colleges have uniforms Now just because I happen to wear a pair of clothes that are closely related to it, doesn't mean I'm a student. It's just REPRESENTATION of the same object in different ways at different situations leading to VERY DIFFERENT IDENTIFICATION. There are things that Indians invented that're being used in other countries. They don't seem to mind. Why should we? Attaching emotions to things or labelling people & grouping them based on similarities doesn't make them exclusive to that group. We all can wear what we want to. It means something else somewhere. Not the same here Peace! ✌ But I do agree with the carbonated water as it's proven to be unhealthy

Andrei Gonzales Iturri (7 months ago)
Just an opinion: as far as I heard, Sadhguru also observes what he wants when he goes to USA; and then he says foreigners that they see what they want to see when they go to India. He is putting not only himself but all his followers in a position that all this destructive fashion is because external influence. About the food I saw very tasty food in India but also unbalanced in nutrients like the masala many of them they are cooked in a way that the vitamins of the vegetables are cooked are destroyed and they loose their original colour, so then you will say that those things is because the influence of westerns? One big problem that I can see in Indians is that you are so attached to your culture, so then everything out of that country you filter it through your own perception and then judge the things in your own terms. There are many countries with many cultures and traditions and languages, Philippines for example, in Africa south America, etc etc. Why to pretend being exclusive?
No one is pretending to be exclusive. I think we don't even care who is doing what. Unless things make sense to us, we like to stick to what we know best because it has worked for us for thousands of years. We are willing to keep whatever works no matter where it comes from.

To call these bottled poisons “carbonated drinks” is an understatement. Coke is a great toilet cleaner and Pepsi a very good pesticide. Keep off these killers. On Denims nothing wrong in wearing them as long as it’s not over done. If you are seen wearing one (say) once or twice a week it’s fine, if almost all week it’s an issue. It’s not just weaves - how many people are aware of fabrics made out of banana and pineapple fiber, not to mention jute ?

Indians are made to feel bad about themselves and their traditions. It doesn't help that the caste system hurts them, as well as being bombarded with western advertising that promises all glory. Indians need to make the changes they want to see and be proud. It would be a disaster to see the world western and see ancient India lose its cultural diversity, knowledge and spiritualism.. I am a westerner and I cannot stand where we are going. Materialism and killing the earth. I have seen a rise in some enlightenment and a few going back to their roots here. super excited to see people taking on yoga and meditation much more. Replacing fine fiber crafted clothes for blue jeans is insane. Not to mention the clothes are easier to wear and healthier for the body. We live in polyester land. Sadguru is right about influencing the west to do yoga and yearn to be healthier so the influence grows. all we have to do is see how much of a disaster the glorification of being a smoker of the 50s and 60s did to everyone. Time to go into another direction for the age of Aquarius.

Hindu gurus are like jeans too- they no longer have any power to libearte anybody. No matter how many satsangs they give, you remain where you are. They are maya matrix- no exit here-I have tried them for 30 years. Its all talking and programmation !!! beware !!!
This one is not about talking. Just do a 7 day Inner Engineering program. Check the nearest centre on Sadhguru app. It costs 4000 rs. I am sure you would have spent much more in just donation and travelling from one guru to another in these 35 years. If you don't have 4000 rs, try the free Isha Kriya available on youtube and on the Sadhguru app. Its a 15 minute practice, once a day for 90 days. Or twice a day for 48 days. Or you can't wait for that long, try 7 day Inner Engineering Program.

True. We Indians are stupid to leave our own scientific culture to imitate the West, funny. I prefer salwar and cotton pants anyday to those fat/tight jeans, it is horrible in summers as heat piles up. Coca cola, Colgate, alcohol, cigarette etc however is due to marketing and different taste that people want to experience, the information that these are poisonous products is spreading now so people are becoming aware, but jeans and those blazers and tie in 50deg is ridiculous!! Not one person wants to wear it, still everyone wears it.

Hanumandas Ruckman (9 months ago)
Yes India does have some beautiful weaves and fabrics but these statements are too India-centric. First the designs and cuts are designed for the indian culture and climate. There are many shirts that I would like to wear but didn’t buy in India because how many times am I going to wear a kurta outside of India, never. Second the design is loose fitting designed to move heat out away from the body. Who would wear a silk sari in Oslo in the middle of winter? Now if an Indian designer would take Indian materials and apply western tailoring/cute they may have a good business because let’s face it H&M is getting really bland. The other problem with the handmade Indian material is that it’s hard to wash. Most have to be hand washed or dry cleaned and who has time for that in the West. People like jeans because they are durable and last long. You can thrown them into the washing machine and pull it out hang it dry and it’s ready to go. As an American I don’t know why he’s saying that Americans like carbonated water, that’s a European thing. I think only 5 times in America has a waiter asked me if I wanted still or sparkling water and that was at a European style restaurant. Now if he means coca-Cola or Sprite I agree with him.

The point is, where are these unique looms available for purchase? What is their cost? Secondly, it's more of a fashion statement - I wear jeans because I have spent money on buying shirts that will go well with jeans. Where do I buy tops that go well with other clothes of indigenous make? If someone can answer these questions for me (or if, before that, I can find the answers myself) I'll gladly stop wearing jeans! The point is, the whole world is a market. Products need advertising, marketing, promotions, distribution and so on. If I have to travel 10 km to get Indian looms but only 2 km to get jeans, I think it's a straightforward answer as to what I'd (and probably anyone'd) buy.
