UPDATE: Confidence store at the Brasilia Airport closed. I called the company today (October 13th, 2015). There is another exchange place when you come out through the International Arrival Gate, if you keep walking to the left, passing the ATM machines.
If you would like to check more information, please go to:

So in terms of money (cash)
Our currency is Brazilian Real or Reais
- Exchange just a little bit of money (cash) back home, in your country, around 100 USD. For two reasons:
a) If you are arriving on a Sunday (instead of a Monday) and your tour starts on a Monday, you will need to spend the night in Brasilia. You will need some cash to pay the taxi to take you to the hotel and then to the Brasilia Airport on Monday morning to meet with the rest of your group
b) you will arrive on Monday morning, but you might have to wait for the rest of your group (who might be coming on Monday morning in different flights). In this case, you will need some cash in case you want to buy coffee, water, tea, snacks, etc.
There are two options to exchange money:
- At the Brasilia Airport or
- In Abadiania (which is what most people do).
Panoramic view of the Brasilia Airport: http://on.fb.me/1jpKY4i
the International Gate Arrival and close to that, you will see Confidence (the exchange place - which in that day had a yellow sign or yellow cardboard) and even where the restrooms are.
At the Brasilia Airport, you can exchange money at Confidence.
Confidence, is on your right side, after you come out through the International Gate, just walk a few meters and you will see the place. They pay the "exchange rate of the day" minus IOF, which is a Brazilian tax for financial transactions and it is around 0.38%
Exchanging money in Abadiania:
NOTE: The exchange places here just exchange Euros or USD
- Exchange Place in the Main Street, across from Fruttis. They are open from Monday through Saturday, from 9am - 6pm, though on Saturday the close early, at 12pm (noon).
- Lovely - it is a crystal shop, close to the mini market Ribeiro in town, and it offers the best deal in town. The store is open from Monday through Saturday, from 8:30am or 9am until 7pm or 7:30pm
NOTE: Although Lovely might offer a better rate, check with yourself, how you will be feeling. Because for some people, depending on how they are in terms of energy or healthy-wise, it might be a long walk. Not to mention that walking in the sun, it could be too much for some people (because it can be very hot for some people) and you just want to make the experience easy, simple, less stressful for you and convenient!
You can also exchange money back home (in your country), some people prefer to do that too.
Hope that helps!
