CAREERS IN PRODUCTION ENGINEERING.Go through the career opportunities of PRODUCTION ENGINEERING, Govt jobs and Employment News channel from Freshersworld.com – The No.1 job portal for freshers in India. Visit http://www.freshersworld.com?src=Youtube for detailed Career information,Job Opportunities,Higher Education details of PRODUCTION ENGINEERING. Just like the name suggests, production engineering is mostly about the study of products and the various processes of its manufacture. Most production engineers are assigned with the task of seeing how products and commodities are exactly fabricated, the machines which are going to be used to create the product and what is the safest and most efficient procedure to get it done. The products could be almost anything, from something as simple and basic as a newspaper to plastic bottles, cans and IPods. Sometimes production engineers are also made to increase the transfer of hydrocarbons from oil into the process of production. Whenever there is some kind of reproduction or creation of a product involved, there is a higher possibility of finding a production engineer close by. So if you are planning to become a production engineer; you must be wondering where your location of work will be. The answer is quite simple; it could be almost anywhere. This depends upon the kind of production you are involved in. If it is oil or gas that you are keen on working with, then you’ll be in some big energy company trying to help the process and boosting cost efficiency. If consumer goods is what interests you the best, then you could be working for one of the biggest supermarkets or malls of the city. All of this does sound fun but there is a lot of effort that needs to be put in before you become a successful production engineer. You have to have proper understanding of scientific applications and must be good at math too. Not just that, you have to be up to date when it comes to new technological developments. Apart from that, you must know how to design, to come up with proper and quality techniques for the system, select the right kind of knowledge and application in order to revamp the functionality of the product and to create and implement different processes and services. In order to start your career in this field, you must finish your 12th standard exam in science subjects such as physics, chemistry and biology. Once that is done with, apply to engineering colleges that have production engineering as an undergraduate course. Here are some of the top colleges in India that have production engineering as a major course • AISSMS College of Engineering • Al Azhar College of Engineering and Technology • Anand Engineering College • Birla Institute of Technology • Chouksey Engineering College • D. Y Patil College of Engineering and Technology • Government College of Engineering, Pune • Haldia Institute of Technology Each of these institutions provide you with a degree in production engineering. They are recognized and proper institutions that have encouraged young professionals to choose this field of engineering as a career choice. What does PRODUCTION ENGINEERING mean? PRODUCTION ENGINEERING meaning - PRODUCTION ENGINEERING definition - PRODUCTION ENGINEERING explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Production Engineering is a combination of manufacturing technology with management science. A production engineer typically has a wide knowledge of engineering practices and is aware of the management challenges related to production. The goal is to accomplish the production process in the smoothest, most-judicious and most-economic way. Production Engineering encompasses the application of castings, machining processing, joining processes, metal cutting & tool design, metrology, machine tools, machining systems, automation, jigs and fixtures, die and mould design, material science, design of automobile parts, and machine designing and manufacturing. Production engineering also overlaps substantially with manufacturing engineering and industrial engineering. In industry, once the design is realized, production engineering concepts regarding work-study, ergonomics, operation research, manufacturing management, materials management, production planning, etc., play important roles in efficient production processes. These deal with integrated design and efficient planning of the entire manufacturing system, which is becoming increasingly complex with the emergence of sophisticated production methods and control systems.

Innovation - Students of Product Design Episode1

12:49
This series 'Students of Product Design' is aimed at anyone interested in the product design process. This first episode looks at innovation, how to innovate and how simply changing the structure of the brief can impact on how innovative you can be. This series won't just talk about stuff, the plan is to share with you as many of the things I have learnt in the last 15 years (or so..) as possible through each stage of the design process to help you become far better designers than I can ever be. I'll be looking at research, sketching, model making, portfolios and a whole load of other things. I often think of youtube as a speed learning tool. Have you ever seen the Matrix films where Neo first learns martial arts by uploading a programme to his head or Trinity learns to fly a helicopter in minutes, that's how I see Youtube, Youtube is our version of the Matrix. So this series which is primarily aimed at students studying industrial design, product design or design engineering in university is designed to do just that, give you a knowledge boost to hopefully make your projects, designs, presentations and portfolio a lot better to improve your chances of getting a position as a designer, or your projects if you want to start your own company, anything related to design. I also hope with the content, that everyone will be able to take something away from it as many of the tips I'll give over the course of this series will be applicable to lots of areas of life. There's just isn't enough out there on product design, compared to say cookery shows it's very under provisioned and so I'm trying to redress the balance. I have a lot more planned, so please be patient, stay tuned and follow me, so that you can be alerted to when the next video is launched. www.producttank.co.uk

Automotive Engineering | Careers and Where to Begin

09:00
Automotive engineering is about the design, manufacturing, and operation of cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other automobiles. Within automotive engineering there are a variety of sub disciplines including safety, performance, vehicle dynamics, fuel economy, cost, manufacturing, and more. For those who want to go into automotive engineering, note that most colleges don't offer it as a major in terms of undergrad. The most common major for people to begin with is actually mechanical engineering. Then after you get your bachelor's you either go into the workforce in the automotive industry, or pursue further education specifically in automotive engineering. While in school you will want to get as much exposure to the field by joining clubs like the society of automotive engineers so you can participate in various competitions. This will give you something to put on your resume and get you that hands on experience that is so valuable for your career. One big area of research at the moment is self driving cars. This is where you'll see much more than just mechanical engineering working on these vehicles. People from all disciplines including electrical engineers, computer engineers, materials engineers, computer scientists, and more are needed for these projects. However, there are more areas of research that are briefly mentioned in the video beyond self driving cars. *************************************************** Forbes Article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/quora/2017/06/27/what-will-mechanical-engineers-do-after-most-cars-go-electric/#459db26e6387 *************************************************** ► For more information on math, science, and engineering majors, check us out at https://majorprep.com *************************************************** ► Patreon: https://patreon.com/majorprep ► PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/majorprep ► Facebook: https://facebook.com/majorprep

How product design can change the world | Christiaan Maats | TEDxUniversityofGroningen

13:07
Christiaan Maats is a designer and entrepreneur who challenges the way we look at product design. Going beyond form and function he shows us how products carry deeper layers of meaning and how those layers can connect us to a bigger reality. In this Talk, Christiaan Maats explains how meaningful products can embody the change we want to see in the world and sheds light on his own vision of a circular society that integrates industrial society with its natural roots. Christiaan Maats was born and raised in Groningen, though he studied Industrial Design Engineering at Technical University in Delft. His keen interest in the psychology behind product- and brand experience took him to Sydney, Australia where he conducted a case study titled “Storytelling through Product Design”. Good product design is good storytelling, according to Christiaan. His creation of the world’s first biodegradable shoes that bloom is a perfect example of his philosophy. Christiaan considers himself a practical idealist. He is driven by his passion for innovation and creating products and brands that inspire a better future by making you smile, think and wonder. His refreshing ideas on sustainable innovation disrupt the status quo. Christiaan's diverse background and enthusiasm are great ingredients for an inspiring TEDx Talk that focuses on the society of the future and how to get there. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Design for Manufacturing: This practice focuses not only on the design of a new product, but also it's feasibility of production. Raw materials, forms, dimension tolerances and secondary processing (such as finishing) are also taken into account. http://www.focuspdm.com/services/design-manufacturing Facilitating the manufacturing phase is paramount to reducing expensive delays and redesigns. As a result, your prototype moves through final engineering, tooling and production in fewer iterations. Shorter lead times save you time and money. Focus offers tool geometry and other mechanical design services that are optimized to give you the best possible unit cost. their mechanical engineers will design products and create instructions for manufacturing parts by way of drafting or technical drawing, both computer-generated or hand-drawn. The detailed schematic contains necessary dimensions to manufacture that certain part. Along with technical drawings and assembly instructions they provide assembly notes, a required materials list, and other relevant information. What is VALUE ENGINEERING? What does VALUE ENGINEERING mean? VALUE ENGINEERING meaning & explanation

05:59
I MAKE CUTE BABIES - https://amzn.to/2S0mT9u What is VALUE ENGINEERING? What does VALUE ENGINEERING mean? VALUE ENGINEERING meaning - VALUE ENGINEERING definition - VALUE ENGINEERING explanation, Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Value engineering (VE) is a systematic method to improve the "value" of goods or products and services by using an examination of function. Value, as defined, is the ratio of function to cost. Value can therefore be increased by either improving the function or reducing the cost. It is a primary tenet of value engineering that basic functions be preserved and not be reduced as a consequence of pursuing value improvements. The reasoning behind value engineering is as follows: if marketers expect a product to become practically or stylistically obsolete within a specific length of time, they can design it to only last for that specific lifetime. The products could be built with higher-grade components, but with value engineering they are not because this would impose an unnecessary cost on the manufacturer, and to a limited extent also an increased cost on the purchaser. Value engineering will reduce these costs. A company will typically use the least expensive components that satisfy the product's lifetime projections. Due to the very short life spans, however, which is often a result of this "value engineering technique", planned obsolescence has become associated with product deterioration and inferior quality. Vance Packard once claimed this practice gave engineering as a whole a bad name, as it directed creative engineering energies toward short-term market ends. Philosophers such as Herbert Marcuse and Jacque Fresco have also criticized the economic and societal implications of this model. Value engineering began at General Electric Co. during World War II. Because of the war, there were shortages of skilled labour, raw materials, and component parts. Lawrence Miles, Jerry Leftow, and Harry Erlicher at G.E. looked for acceptable substitutes. They noticed that these substitutions often reduced costs, improved the product, or both. What started out as an accident of necessity was turned into a systematic process. They called their technique "value analysis". Value engineering is sometimes taught within the project management or industrial engineering body of knowledge as a technique in which the value of a system’s outputs is optimized by crafting a mix of performance (function) and costs. In most cases this practice identifies and removes unnecessary expenditures, thereby increasing the value for the manufacturer and/or their customers. VE follows a structured thought process that is based exclusively on "function", i.e. what something "does" not what it is. For example a screw driver that is being used to stir a can of paint has a "function" of mixing the contents of a paint can and not the original connotation of securing a screw into a screw-hole. In value engineering "functions" are always described in a two word abridgment consisting of an active verb and measurable noun (what is being done - the verb - and what it is being done to - the noun) and to do so in the most non-prescriptive way possible. In the screw driver and can of paint example, the most basic function would be "blend liquid" which is less prescriptive than "stir paint" which can be seen to limit the action (by stirring) and to limit the application (only considers paint). This is the basis of what value engineering refers to as "function analysis". Value engineering uses rational logic (a unique "how" - "why" questioning technique) and the analysis of function to identify relationships that increase value. It is considered a quantitative method similar to the scientific method, which focuses on hypothesis-conclusion approaches to test relationships, and operations research, which uses model building to identify predictive relationships.

Strong Engineering Culture, Strong Product Culture

20:49
What does culture have to do with building great products? In my opinion, everything. I’m a group product manager at Yelp, and in this presentation from MTP Engage, I look at why it’s so important to create a supportive culture where product people and engineers collaborate and trust each other. I manage a team of product managers and product designers, and while we have a high-performing workplace of product managers and engineers, we have a range of personalities, preferences, and communication styles which inevitably challenges how people work together. In my 15 years as a product manager I’ve learned that it’s always about the people, and empowering them to get things done without getting in each other’s way. This challenge expresses itself in many ways, but one I’ve noticed recently is in status differences between product and engineering. At some companies, the product team walks around like they own the place, while engineers scramble to get things done. At other companies, engineers dominate decision-making, and product managers are just trying to keep up with the scrum backlog. It’s a delicate balance to keep each team focused on what they do well and delivering value on time while remaining civil (and maybe even making friends!). I’ve been at Yelp for six years, and here I’ve had a front-row seat to understanding – and in my own small way influencing – healthy product/engineering relationships. Yelp has a really strong culture that enables the balance and generosity needed to be successful. Every company has its corporate values, and Yelp’s – to be tenacious, be unboring, play well with others – are tightly held and accurate (in my opinion). Those values also express themselves on the product and engineering teams. There are a few business practices that Yelp has developed and uses to maintain our fun, inclusive culture, these include everything from hackathons and off-sites to Yelp Love, an internal, open-source platform where you can leave coworkers digital “love” and shout outs. There are other important and less lighthearted aspects of our culture, and challenges still to be faced. It covers the entire design process, starting from a design brief and ending with a complete product that is fit for mass or small series production. Thus the emphasis of the IPD master is on teaching conceptualisation and embodiment design, by applying systematic state-of-the-art theories and methodologies, and by integrating user, technology and business aspects. The identity of the IPD Master’s programme is determined by the coherent integration of all these aspects to come to a successful new product proposal; this makes the IPD Master’s programme challenging, exciting and unique. The international product development arena is changing rapidly; products are becoming smarter, better integrated into systems and have to comply with increasingly stringent standards. Product development is moving from an inter-disciplinary to a transdisciplinary occupation, becoming more knowledge intensive and therefore in need of continuous updates of tools and methods. The IPD Master’s programme provides an integrated approach to the disciplines involved: advanced studies in innovative design theory and methods, aesthetics, ergonomics, engineering, and sustainability. The IPD curriculum includes multidisciplinary applied research on innovative product development embedded in its product design projects. http://ipd.msc.tudelft.nl/
