German Cancer Therapies: Natural and Conventional Medicines That Offer Hope and Healing [Paperback]
Written by an award-winning medical journalist, this is the first book to discuss the complementary therapies used by German doctors for the treatment of cancer. In clinics all across Germany, doctors have achieved a fully documented 88% remission rate in their cancer patients using natural, nontoxic treatments. This inspiring and informative book relates the stories of many patients who have seen real, remarkable results from innovative treatments such as Polyerga(R) and Carnivora(R) therapy, as well as from galavanotherapy, hyperthermia, noni juice, mushrooms, and induced remission therapy. And unlike here in the United States, in Europe these therapies are not considered alternative medicine, but rather mainstream approaches to fighting cancer. In German Cancer Therapies, Dr. Morton Walker discusses seven cutting-edge treatment programs, with careful and medically responsible consideration given to the pros and cons of each. He also includes the following resources:
Beating Cancer with Nutrition: Optimal Nutrition Can Improve Outcome inMedically-Treated Cancer Patients.
From Library Journal
This completely revised edition of a 1994 title offers up-to-date information about the human body's own "host defense mechanisms" in the war on cancer, providing a multidisciplinary approach to treatment based on scientific studies and clinical experience. Quillin, a medical professional who has published extensively, has conducted nutrition studies with hundreds of patients in formal clinical settings. He discusses conventional therapies (chemotherapy, surgery), alternative therapies (macrobiotics, herbal and vitamin therapies), and related factors (psychosocial health, drugs, tobacco, immune dysfunctions). Appendixes list treatment referral agencies, mail-order nutrition products, suggested readings, nutritionally oriented doctors in the United States and Canada, and recipes using foods known to slow tumor growth. Written in an easy-to-read style, this work is informative, but some sections seem misplaced or redundant, and charts and graphs occasionally lack an identified source and are difficult to read. Still, this useful guide to authoritative alternatives in cancer treatment would be appreciated in public library or consumer health collections. --Virginia Lingle, Hershey Medical Ctr. Catherine R. Coulter / A.U. Ramakrishnan
A Homeopathic Approach to Cancer is a clear, concise alternative medicine reference that introduces Dr. Ramakrishnan's method. This book details 126 different cases, covering 25 types of cancer, in a comprehensive format and presents documentation that illustrates how homeopathy has been successfully used in the treatment of cancer. The book's procedural analyses and observations on methodology interspersed throughout the text will help guide the practitioner to correct prescribing.
The author, who coauthored the book with Catherine Coulter, is the homeopathic doctor of the Indian president and has been practising for over 30 years, has personal experience in the homeopathic treatment of of 5000 cancer patients. His working methods are relatively straightforward but presuppose a sound knowledge of homeopathy. The decisive characteristic is a frequent, usually daily dose of single remedies, which are mostly administered in a pattern of alternating weeks.
