Streaming Database Changes with Debezium by Gunnar Morling
"Debezium (noun | de·be·zi·um | /dɪ:ˈbɪ:ziːəm/) - secret ingredient for change data capture" Updating caches and full-text indexes, synchronizing data between microservices, maintaining different read models in a CRQS-style architecture, feeding operational data to your analytics tools -- just a few use cases which benefit so much from streaming the changes from your datastore. In this session, you’ll learn what change data capture (CDC) is about and how it can be implemented using Debezium, an open-source CDC solution based on Apache Kafka. Find out how Debezium captures all the changes from datastores such as MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB, how to react to the change events in near real time, and how Debezium is designed to not compromise on data correctness and completeness also if things go wrong. Gunnar Morling is a software engineer and open-source enthusiast by heart. He’s leading the Debezium project, a tool for change data capture (CDC). As part of the Hibernate team, he contributes to Hibernate Search, OGM and Validator. Gunnar is the spec lead for Bean Validation 2.0 (JSR 380). In his spare time he leads the MapStruct project. Prior to joining Red Hat, he worked on a wide range of Java EE projects in the logistics and retail industries. He’s based in Hamburg, Germany.

6. Node.js + Oracle-Datenbank = node-oracledb - Carsten Czarski

Linux Commands for Real Life with Examples
Practical Linux Commands for Real Life With Example This article is part of the Linux Commands for Real Life series, Part - 1 https://goo.gl/6oPfMG Part - 2 https://goo.gl/WxxGLl Written Tutorial Part 1: https://goo.gl/XcayZn Written Tutorial Part 2: https://goo.gl/fbchIw Using cut command with cat Sometimes when i am writing a script and i want to find out the name of the server, network type...etc i use the below command. I use cat to screen all the file content, i use grep after to find specific line then i cut only specific part. Command: cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 | grep -i TYPE | cut -d "=" -f 2 Output: "Ethernet" Explanation: grep -i type - Find line which has type cut -d "=" -f 2 - use "=" as a delimeter and -f 2 means show  the second column. Another example: if you have a file which contains type=3=4=5=6 Then you use cat that file and -d "=" and -f 3 then the output will be '4' as 4 is the third column. Change text color using tput You can change text output color/bold/italic/backgroun color using tput. Example: echo "$(tput smul)$(tput setaf 1)Text$(tput sgr0)": Output: Explanation $(tput smul) - Underline $(tput setaf 1) - Text color is red $(tput sgr0) - this part you should put it at the end to get the text back to normal, if you don't put it all the tyle will be applied to all the next written text. Sort processes by CPU usage Command ps -e --sort -pcpu -o comm, pcpu, user, pid | head -11 Output COMMAND %CPU USER PID systemd 50.0 root 1 kthreadd 44.0 root 2 ksoftirqd/0 38.0 root 3 kworker/u30:10 0.0 root 6 migration/0 8.0 root 7 rcu_bh 0.0 root 8 rcu_sched 0.0 root 9 watchdog/0 0.0 root 10 khelper 0.0 root 12 kdevtmpfs 0.0 root 13 Explanation --sort -pcpu , Sort by CPU Usage -o comm, pcpu, user, pid , show output columns of cpu, user, process id. | head 11 , show top 11 Rename multiple files with specific name with number sequence Below example will rename multiple files which starting with x to data01.csv , data02.csv ...etc ls x[a-z]* | while read file;do let c++;mv $file data$(printf "%02d" $c)".csv";done Explanation: ls x[a-z]* - List all the files which start with 'x' letter while read file;do let c++ - Loop while listing all the files and do the following mv $file data$(printf "%02d" $c)".csv";done - Move all the files with naming them 'data' and have 0 then number of the loop of $c and place extension .csv Check each installed packaged information and sort by date Not all the installed packages' information can be retreived using yum, if packages where installed using rpm you can query and find installation date using below command: Example: rpm -qa --qf  '%{INSTALLTIME} (%{INSTALLTIME:date}): %{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}.%{ARCH}\n' | sort -n | tail -n5 Output sample: 1496198202(Tue 30 May 2017 10:36:42 PM EDT):mysql-community-common-5.7.18-1.el7 1496198203(Tue 30 May 2017 10:36:43 PM EDT):mysql-community-libs-5.7.18-1.el7 1496198207(Tue 30 May 2017 10:36:47 PM EDT):mysql-community-client-5.7.18-1.el7 1496198234(Tue 30 May 2017 10:37:14 PM EDT):mysql-community-server-5.7.18-1.el7 1496198235(Tue 30 May 2017 10:37:15 PM EDT):mysql-community-libs-compat-5.7.18-1.el7 Explanation: rpm -qa --qf '%{INSTALLTIME}(%{INSTALLTIME:date}):%{NAME}-%{version}-%{RELEASE}\n' | sort -n | tail -n 5 rpm -qa - List and query all installed packages. --qf '%{INSTALLTIME}' - This will show file information of Install Time and all the rest of parameters have different info like date, name, version..etc \n' - To have each package in a new line sort -n - Sort the list tail -n5 - List only the latest 5 installed packages Find Apache uptime or when was restarted Method #1 apachectl status | grep -i active Method #2 locate error_log cat /var/log/httpd/error_log | grep -i resum List files by last accessed ones ls -latu This command will differ than ls -lat that it will show last accessed even if it was not modified. Which processes using certain file Example: fuser /var/log/httpd/error_log Output example: /var/log/httpd/error_log: 27431 27432 27433 27434 27435 27436 Investigate certain pid ps aux | grep -i 27431 Output will show that httpd is running, now we can know that httpd is using that file.

Web Scraping Equity data - Java
My own Mini Project: The application scrapes only HK Equities data from the web. It serves to MONITOR your own portfolios. Bottom Half of the application: If you have traded the same stock multiple times, the application will store your trades in the bottom half of the application. It is essentially transaction log. Top Half: In addition, the top half represents the portfolio's consolidated position summary (including the average cost, unrealized PnL and realized PnL) of each individual stock. And the price is updated automatically every 10 -30 seconds. User has the ability to set Stop Loss and Target Price. When either of these 2 levels are reached, the cells will flash to alert user. Left Hand Side: the application gives user the ability to quickly look up a stock via its ticker. It pulls out as much as information as possible in split seconds. Right Hand Side: The watchlist gives users the option to monitor a list of equities that he does not currently hold. And again, he can set a target price for each individual stock such that if the level is reached, the cell will flash to alert the user. I have to admit the graphics and interface look aweful but I am not a graphics designer and I designed it by using JavaFX. *** Please note that this application does not trade at all.

Java Game Programming - Saving and Loading [P12]
In this video we continue on exactly where we left of in the previous video, and expand our save/load functionality to support multiple mobs as well as the player. Note though that this is just example code really, and I've done no error checking on the data that we're loading from the file! This isn't great in a final project, but was to save a little time at this stage. We might add some obvious sanity checks though, soon, when we move this code out of the player class. I also introduce a situation that calls for the use of a mob factory, but don't worry! If you don't have one I go over how to achieve essentially the same effect without one at the end of the video. Factories are fantastic things to have, so I will definately cover their design and development at some point, even if it is just an overview at first. Future topics to cover (STILL) Proxy and Flyweight design patterns, writeReplace(), readResolve() and dealing with multiple save files. Encryption and basic security may be covered either at the end of the series or as a seperate series afterwards. Subscribe to ensure you don't miss anything out!

Building a Scalable News Feed/Inbox System with MongoDB and Java
Many user-facing applications present some kind of news feed/inbox system. You can think of Facebook, Twitter, or Gmail as different types of inboxes where the user can see data of interest, sorted by time, popularity, or other parameter. A scalable inbox is a difficult problem to solve: for millions of users, varied data from many sources must be sorted and presented within milliseconds. Different strategies can be used: scatter-gather, fan-out writes, and so on. This session presents an actual application developed by 10gen in Java, using MongoDB. This application is open source and is intended to show the reference implementation of several strategies to tackle this common challenge. The presentation also introduces many MongoDB concepts. Author: antoine girbal Antoine works on MongoDB core apps and the Java driver. He previously spent many years in the CDN industry, at Panther CDN then CDNetworks, designing and developing one of the largest and fastest Content Delivery and Application Acceleration Network. Prior work include the development of a new network protocol in Linux kernel to multiplex several interfaces, used in wireless devices. Antoine received a MS degree in Computer Science from Stevens Institute (Hoboken), and a BS in Computer Science from Epita (Paris France). Working with the Trace File Analyzer Collector
The Trace File Analyzer (TFA) Collector Tool is a utility for collecting first failure diagnostics when creating Service Requests with Oracle Support. Using TFA Collector to make diagnostic collections removes questions about what files to collect and upload. TFA knows about all the well known Oracle and operating system diagnostic locations and collects only files that have been modified proximate to problem time specified from any of those well known locations. Larger files are also pruned proximate to problem time specified to reduce the size of the upload. If the system is a clustered environment TFA collects relevant diagnostics from the remote nodes as well. All of this can be accomplished with one simple command. Key features of TFA Collector include: RAC and single instance non-RAC support Time-based collection of relevant files OS Clusterware ASM DB OSW and CHMOS etc Large file pruning Cluster-wide time-relevant collections Analytics for key files DB alert logs Clusterware alert logs ASM alert logs system messages OSWatcher top and slabinfo data Flexible command-line interface Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. Create a push notification system with SignalR
Today's most of the applications are multi-user application, where multiple users doing their task at the same time. But the problem is when any user(s) done any changes (ex. inserted a new order) other users doesn’t know it unless the request is initiated by the user for seeking the updates. So, we must have a way to notify all the connected clients if there is any changes happens on the server without a refresh or update the web page. This is the area in which asp.net SignalR comes into play. Here In this application, I will show you, how to implement a push notification system with SignalR for notifying connected clients / users when any database changes happen on the server. Experimenting with Node, Socket.io, and Phonegap - real-time accelerometer control
I made this little demo using Node.js, socket.io, and Phonegap. It has three parts - the server (control.js), the controller (gyro.html running in a phonegap app), and the display (index.html). The display is meant to run on a desktop or laptop (or even a tablet), while the controller app runs on any number of android phones. Every time the server detects that a new phone has connected, it will add a new element to the display, and that element will be controlled by that particular phone. I haven't tried this with more than one phone, but it should work (although performance will decrease with each added phone). Try it out, hack it up, and send me an email if you make something neat with it. Download here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5964154/CONTROL.zip To run: 1) Unzip the files. 2) copy the "Control" folder to your node.js server 3) install socket.io and express 4) ifconfig and make note of your node.js server's IP address. The app runs on port 1234 5) cd to Control and run "node control.js" 6) on your "display" computer, open a browser and go to http://your.node.server.ip:1234/index.html 7) install GyroController.apk on your android phone using Easy Installer 8) open GyroController (might be called Main Activity) 9) in the form, put http://your.node.server.ip:1234/gyro.html (must have http://) 10) tap and hold on the screen (should turn green) and watch the square move on the display!
