Not much to look at, nothing to see Just glad I'm living and happy to be I got a woman who's crazy for me She's funny that way Can't save a dollar, ain't worth a cent She never hollers, she'll live in a tent I got a woman, crazy for me She's funny that way Though she loves to work and slave For me every day She'd be so much better off If I went away But why should I leave her? Why should I go? She'd be unhappy without me I know I got a woman crazy for me She's funny that way She'd be so much better off if I went away But why should I leave her and why should I go? She'd be unhappy without me I know I've got a woman crazy for me She's funny that way

FRANK SINATRA SINGS - SHES FUNNY THAT WAY 1942 BROADCAST

03:06
Francis Albert Sinatra (/sᵻˈnɑːtrə/; Italian: [siˈnaːtra]; December 12, 1915 – May 14, 1998) was an American singer, actor, and producer who was one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide.[2] Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, to Italian immigrants, Sinatra began his musical career in the swing era with bandleaders Harry James and Tommy Dorsey. Sinatra found success as a solo artist after he signed with Columbia Records in 1943, becoming the idol of the "bobby soxers". He released his debut album, The Voice of Frank Sinatra, in 1946. Sinatra's professional career had stalled by the early 1950s, and he turned to Las Vegas, where he became one of its best known performers as part of the Rat Pack. His career was reborn in 1953 with the success of From Here to Eternity, with his performance subsequently winning an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. Sinatra released several critically lauded albums, including In the Wee Small Hours (1955), Songs for Swingin' Lovers! (1956), Come Fly with Me (1958), Only the Lonely (1958) and Nice 'n' Easy (1960). Sinatra left Capitol in 1960 to start his own record label, Reprise Records, and released a string of successful albums. In 1965, he recorded the retrospective September of My Years, starred in the Emmy-winning television special Frank Sinatra: A Man and His Music, and released the tracks "Strangers in the Night" and "My Way". After releasing Sinatra at the Sands, recorded at the Sands Hotel and Casino in Vegas with frequent collaborator Count Basie in early 1966, the following year he recorded one of his most famous collaborations with Tom Jobim, the album Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim. It was followed by 1968's collaboration with Duke Ellington. Sinatra retired for the first time in 1971, but came out of retirement two years later and recorded several albums and resumed performing at Caesars Palace, and reached success in 1980 with "New York, New York". Using his Las Vegas shows as a home base, he toured both within the United States and internationally until a short time before his death in 1998.

Gene Austin "She's Funny That Way" (1928)

03:14
"She's Funny That Way" Words by Richard Whiting Music by Neil Moret (aka Charles Daniels) Performed by Gene Austin, tenor with orchestra Recorded November 7, 1928 Victor 21779 Although Richard Whiting was a prolific composer of popular tunes this is rare case where he wrote only the lyrics. "Neil Moret" was a pseudonym for Charles Daniels, was also known for the songs "Moonlight and Roses" and "Sweet and Lovely." It has been said that "She's Funny That Way" is a torch song written from the man's point of view. Most torch songs portray a woman neglected or betrayed but still devoted to the man who has caused her misery. In this song, the man is loyal and honest. He considers leaving her only because he feels unworthy, but he is smart enough to know that he should stay because "She'd be unhappy without me, I know."

One of the first prominent jazz musicians on his instrument, as Joachim E. Berendt explained: "there were some tenor players before him, but the instrument was not an acknowledged jazz horn". While Hawkins is strongly associated with the swing music and big band era, he had a role in the development of bebop in the 1940s. She's Funny That Way

03:18
This is a very beautiful song from 1928 by Neil Moret and Richard Whiting, called She's Funny That Way. Neil Moret, whose real name was Charles Daniels, composed the melody. He wrote a lot of songs, but this is his most enduring. Richard Whiting wrote the lyrics, but he mostly wrote melody too. For instance, he wrote Hooray for Hollywood which is still played at the start of Oscar shows. And he wrote, On the Good Ship Lollipop, which everyone knows, but without knowing him. This was the only time he ever wrote lyrics for another composer. And many people believe he contributed mightily to the melody as well (even though he never took credit for it) because it sounds like him. But, what's interesting is that there are two sets of lyrics to this song. There are the lyrics that Whiting wrote, which most vocalists sing. Then, there are other lyrics that Frank Sinatra sang. And I don't know where they came from. Both sets of lyrics are very nice. However, since I am first, last, and always, a Sinatraphile, I go with Frank's lyrics. Hey, that's a given. I sing it Frank's way. I don't argue with the Chairman of the Board. So, here it is, a very pretty song from the Roaring Twenties, She's Funny That Way. And, to a great extent, this is my own arrangement.
