In fact, it can get strange at times. From applying, to training, to meeting the personal demands of POTUS, these are definitely some strange requirements to join the service. Of course, we’re talking about the US Secret Service. These men and women have a serious job and they definitely look the part. Dressed in their black suits, their best-known job is to protect the POTUS. But there’s more to it than that. As you’ll see with these following 10 secrets, the Secret Service is about more than looking intimidating while wearing sunglasses. Ahead we’ll start you off by explaining the original purpose of the Secret Service. Spoiler alert – it didn’t actually involve protecting the President. From investigations to interrogations, we’ll take a look at some of the other jobs the Secret Service performs today. Ever wonder what would happen if most of the US government was wiped out? Well, the Secret Service plays a role in ensuring the continuity of the government and it involves the secret location of Mount Weather. Of course, all those men and women in suits need a place to hang out and we’ve found it on H Street in Washington D.C. We’ll also show you that the Secret Service isn’t all about taking a bullet either. No, they are prepared to perform all sorts of life-saving procedures on the President to ensure their chances of staying alive between the time of an incident and arrival at the nearest hospital. There’s also the fact that not all agents are human. That’s right, dogs do their part in the secret service and their training is just as rigorous as it is for their two-legged masters. Then there’s the proximity of the Secret Service to the President. As you’ll see, they are always nearby and sometimes it can be a little too close for comfort. Even in the safe confines of the White House, agents are on guard and that includes those stationed in the kitchen. They’re not just there to keep the chefs safe. We’ll show you how agents are forensic experts who can track down a threatening letter just by the type of ink it was written with. Finally, there’s the weaponry and equipment. We all know the Secret Service packs some firepower. However, the types of devices and weapons can be truly mind-boggling as it demonstrates they are ready for nearly any scenario. The Secret Service was created on the same day that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, and the irony is not lost on anyone. It was the 14th of April 1865, and Lincoln created the agency – not as protection for himself – but to crack down on the distribution of counterfeit money which was threatening to destroy the American economy. Lincoln was assassinated by Wilkes Booth later that day while attending a play at a local theatre. To function efficiently, the Secret Service must have a few secret tactics that will ensure the safety of the American President. Subscribe for weekly wacky videos and learn interesting facts about the world with awesome top 10 lists and other amazing videos. 8 - Shades On The sunglasses that the Secret Service agents wear, are not just to look cool and shade their eyes! They are also worn to ensure that nothing can get inside their eyes. 7 - Train Insane If you’re considering becoming a Secret Service agent, don’t think that once you’ve got the job of your dreams, that that’s it! They never stop training… ever! You must endure gruelling interviews, extensive background and psychological tests, and then you have to maintain and constantly prove your worth! Training is not just physical but involves weapons, emergency survival, water survival skills as well as financial fraud detection and intelligence techniques. 6 - Don’t believe Hollywood I hate to break the bad news, but Secret Service agents are not under any sworn oath that they need to die for the president. The only thing they are sworn to do is to take every possible step to ensure the president is kept safe and harm doesn’t come his way. 5 - It’s more than a job Secret Service agents don’t just look after the president, their jobs involve so much more. Besides keeping track of around 1,500 death threats towards the president every year, they also investigate credit fraud, financial crimes, identity theft, counterfeiting, and computer fraud. 4 - Step Lightly It’s possible to know the exact location of the president while he is in his office, thanks to weight pressure pads underneath the carpet. This office is the only space where agents are not inside at all times but waiting just outside the door. The pressure pads help them keep track of the president constantly. 3 - Code Red Here’s a fun secret tactic that the Secret Service agents get to indulge in, and that’s picking their own code names for the president and his family members. Usually, husband and wife will share the same first letter, so for example, Michelle Obama was “Renaissance,” while Barack Obama was “Renegade.” George W. Bush was “Tumbler,” John F. Kennedy was “Lancer,” and Richard Nixon had the code name “Searchlight.” 2 - Take one for the team Secret Service agents have to expect the unexpected, and in order to do this, they often get shot with fake bullets. Using non-lethal rounds, their training incorporates having to shoot the target – now the agent – and the bullet will leave a coloured mark and a small sting. That way, agents know exactly how sure their aim is and where they need to improve. 1...

A former secret agent is sharing his advice on how to get through any critical situation. It's always fascinating to see how easily CIA agents in movies can survive any extreme situation. Well, they’re even cooler and more resilient in real life. So even if you're the safest driver ever, it wouldn’t hurt to know what to do in case of an accident. When you’re driving, you should keep your hands at 9-and-3, not 10-and-2 as they used to say. Unfortunately, dog attacks are also quite common these days. A mixture of water and ammonia, using a can of pressurized air, like those sprayable air dusters for cleaning keyboards or pepper spray or another animal’s urine will save you. If you ever find yourself in a burning building, there's a chance that you'll need to knock the door down to escape or help others. The way you see it done in the movies couldn't be more wrong! Running towards it and throwing your whole body against it can leave you with a dislocated shoulder or even broken bones. In the moment, panic often takes over, but try to suppress it and follow some important rules. To protect yourself during a shooting, you need to find a good cover. If you’ve got a gun pointed at you, it's best to behave extremely carefully to minimize any possible risks of getting seriously hurt. If a serious explosion is about to go off, your actions should be quick and precise. Finding refuge is the most important thing. In case you get locked in the trunk of a car, you can try to open the trunk's lock latch. Another option is to try to escape through the folding back seat. If the snow on the ground is really thick and you see a couple of evergreen trees nearby, then you’ve found the perfect place to build yourself a refuge to wait out the storm and warm up a bit. Music: Barge Gunnar Olsen Sci-Fi Swamp Chase - Sir Cubworth TIMESTAMPS A car crash 0:46 A dog attack 1:50 Knocking the door down in case of fire 2:50 Barricading a door 3:37 A shooting 4:23 Being at gunpoint 5:19 An explosion 6:12 Being locked in the trunk of a car 6:50 If your hands and feet are tied together 7:37 Being in water with your hands and feet tied 8:21 Making a shelter in deep snow 9:11 Bonus: secret agent must-haves 10:10 SUMMARY -When you’re driving, you should keep your hands at 9-and-3, not 10-and-2 as they used to say. If you’re a passenger in the back seat, during a collision, put your hands on the back of your head, press your forehead against the seat in front of you, and keep your knees bent at a 90° angle. -A mixture of water and ammonia is one of the best ways to scare away aggressive dogs. The most effective choice is pepper spray or another animal’s urine. -A precise and powerful enough kick with your heel will knock out any lock. -You can put rubber doorstops all around the door’s crevices or do it like in the movies: just put a bunch of heavy objects in front of the door. -To protect yourself during a shooting, you need to find a good cover. Remember that things like clipboards and hardcover books can stop bullets, so you can use them as a bulletproof vest. -If somebody is pointing a gun at your back and has ordered you to walk ahead, raise your arms and slow down so that the gun is pressed right up against your back. Then, turn around quickly, bring one arm down so that it traps the gun under your armpit, and use your other arm to attack the gunman. -Finding refuge is the most important thing. Cross your legs, open your mouth, and cover your ears with your hands. -Find the emergency pull located on the inside of the trunk, and the trunk will pop open. -To free your legs, stand up straight and point your toes out to make a “V” with your feet. Then, jump up and as you land, spread your knees really fast. If your hands are tied behind your back, you need to get them in front of you. Once that's done, press them together tightly and then quickly pull them apart. -Don't panic, take deep breaths in and quick breaths out. If you're swimming on your belly, move by bending your knees, straightening them back again, and keeping your back arched so that your head stays above water. -Find the thickest evergreen tree with low hanging branches and dig a hole in the snow along the tree trunk. Then pack the snow on the “walls” of your hideaway as densely as you can. -Some of the most popular contents in special agents' bags include a key to handcuffs, a flashlight, a gun, a pen, a compass, a razor blade, a pocket knife, a mouthguard, and some lockpicks. Why would a successful, twelve-year Secret Service agent resign his position in the prime of his career to run for political office against all the odds? Why is it that the Washington DC "Bubble" -- a haze of lobbyists, cronies, staff, acolytes, consultants and bureaucrats surrounding those in power -- creates a "bubble" that distorts their view of the world and detaches them from the tragic results of poor policy choices? In "Life Inside the Bubble", Dan Bongino reflects upon his journey from the tough streets of New York City where he was raised, and later patrolled as a member of the NYPD, to the White House as a member of the elite Presidential Protective Division, through his ultimate decision to resign from the Secret Service in the prime of his career to run for the United States Senate. He provides a rare look inside "the Bubble" of our Nation's Capital and assesses why a government -- filled with some of the incredibly dedicated people he encountered while within it -- continues to make tragic mistakes.

Interesting secrets and facts about secret service agents and police officers. What do you know about police officers or the secret service? You might think you know everything there is to know about law enforcement, but do you really? There are actually a lot of things you probably don't know about why cops and secret service agents do certain things. From offering protection and security to putting their own lives at risk, there is a lot to know about law enforcement and secret service agents in the United States. #SecretService #LawEnforcement #SecretAgents Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music Summary: 10. The Secret Service was established on the day Lincoln was killed. It was suggested by the Secretary of the Treasury, Hugh McCulloch. He presented his idea to Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865. Later that night, the president went to a theater where he was shot in the head. Very, very tragic. 9. Secret service agents don't always look how they do in the movies. In movies, you always see the agents wearing sunglasses and black costumes, topped with a poker face. But that's not exactly how it is in reality. 8. Secret service agents and police officers make mistakes too. They aren't perfect - none of us are, and they tend to make mistakes as well. The only problem is, their mistakes could cost someone's life. 7. Their hands are always ready. One thing's for sure, the police officer or agent's hands are always ready. If you look at various photos of agents with the president as well as guards on duty, you'll notice that their hands are always at their waist. Even though the position of their fingers might differ, the position of their hands always means the same thing. It means that the agents are ready to react quickly and are prepared to raise their weapons to protect whoever they are providing security to. 6. The secret service is responsible for starting FBI. Believe it or not, the United States Secret Service actually gave birth to the FBI. In 1908, the attorney general hired nine Secret Service agents and commissioned them as "special agents of the Justice Department". Eventually, these special agents would be seen as the heart of the Bureau of Investigation and later would be called the Federal Bureau of Investigation. 5. Spies. So with having the amount of responsibility that the Secret Service does, have they ever had a traitor? The answer is...no! Over the years they have been penetrated by untold numbers of foreign spies but the agents have never had a spy in their midst. There has been no member of protective detail betraying his or her country. 4. Cops are treated worse than you may think. Unlike secret service agents, who generally receive a fair amount of respect from people, police officers actually receive a lot of pretty harsh treatment from people while on the job. Though they have respectful positions, there are alot of people out there who see the police as evil, and hold a lot of resentment towards them. This can put cops in dangerous positions, particularly if the people who have resentment towards them are armed and dangerous. 3. Generally, agents dress for the occasion. They aren't always in a button-down, and completely formal. Sometimes it's a suit or a tuxedo, but most of the time it's jeans and a jacket. Even the earpiece can be changed up from coiled-wire variety (like you see in movies) or ones that look like iPod earbuds. The sunglasses I already touched on on the previous page! 2. Events. The Secret Service is at certain events even if the President is not. In 1998, President Clinton established National Special Security Event procedures to help federal agencies prevent terrorist attack on events like the Super Bowl. After 9/11, President Bush reorganized the procedures, placing Secret Service in charge of more events. 1. Why cops touch your car's tail light when they pull you over. Whether you've been pulled over by a cop or not, it's pretty much common knowledge that it's an unpleasant experience. Even if the cop you are dealing with happens to be extremely nice, it's always scary and it will make you second guess yourself, even if you're sure that you haven't done anything wrong. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to Bestie : https://goo.gl/tUqro6 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bestieinc/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kerry O’Grady was suspended from her job as agent in charge of the Secret Service’s Denver office last October when she wrote on her Facebook page that she’d rather face jail time than protect Trump. The Washington Examiner reported that O’Grady then told her Facebook followers, which included former and current Secret Service agents, that she couldn’t protect Trump. She promptly endorsed Hillary Clinton, which is in violation of federal law: http://marygreeley.com/?p=50424

The secret service has the difficult job of keeping our country's leader safe, 24 7. But this just one of their main tasks and sometimes they might mess up. Here are 23 Things the Secret Service Don’t Want You To Know It was back in 1865 that the Secret Service was created, not to protect the President though, but rather to curb the overflow of counterfeit money in circulation. The first Chief of the Secret Service was William P Wood, sworn in by Secretary of the Treasury Hugh McCulloch. It wasn’t long until the duties of a Secret Service agent broadened, and in 1867 they included, “detecting persons perpetrating fraud against the government.” Today we look at some of the secrets of the Secret Service. Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 8 - Hot Air… Jackie Kennedy will be remembered for her pure class, but what you may not know is that she used to be a secret smoker. The only way she could get cigarettes without anyone knowing about it, was to bum them off the Secret Service agents. 7 - Part of the Fleet… It wasn’t until 1901 that better precautions were taken to protect the US Presidents. It was that year that William McKinley was assassinated by Leon Czolgosz. Although better measures were taken to protect the President’s, they weren’t fool proof. President Kennedy was shot and killed in 1968, and as mentioned earlier, there was civilian footage which helped investigations a lot. Since then, a death car has been added to the Presidential fleet. This car is on constant “death watch”, and films each and every procession the President rides in. 6 - Don’t send chocolates… If you’re wanting to send the President a little gift, don’t even bother with chocolates. They’re never eaten! The President’s food is under constant surveillance. The Secret service is in charge of overseeing all the meals prepared for the President. Losing a President through poisoning is definitely not a great way to go. When he travels, Navy stewards join him to prepare his meals and even with photo-ops involving food, the food is left untouched. It’s not all bad though, because at least deep-dish pizza cravings can be satisfied. They send it to a nearby address, and it’s then taken straight to the President! 5 - Room with a view... One would assume that if the President was staying in your hotel, everyone would be pretty excited, however it’s the exact opposite. The hotels have to go through an extensive background check, which 8takes a lot of the hotel’s time. Then, once the President is inside safely, several floors remain empty as guests are forbidden to enter those areas. It all sounds quite acceptable, but surely the hotels are compensated for their loss of revenue when the President stays in their hotel? One would hope so! 4 - Jot it down… If you’re ever planning on sending a threatening or troubling hand-written note to the President, here’s a very good reason for you to refrain. The Secret Service work closely with ink manufactures. Each and every pen contains ink, and that ink contains certain markers that can assist the agency in tracking people down, or at the very least, the area where they’re from. The ink will lead them to the country where the pen is sold, what brand and even an exact store in certain cases. 3 - Taking the job a little too seriously… This doesn’t put one at ease, but it’s been said that the Secret Service Agents haven’t actually sworn to lose their own lives in order for the President to survive. So, although they probably would take a bullet for him, they don’t actually have to. They won’t be put behind bars for not doing it, but I imagine that it would be better to leave this earth a hero then have a stigma with you for the rest of your life, knowing you didn’t save the life of the President. 2 - Learning new skills… As we’ve learnt, the Secret Service are always at the President’s side – so that means, whatever the President does, so does the agent. If the President is riding a horse, you can guarantee the Secret Service Agents are riding horses. If the President is playing golf, the agents are playing golf and if the President is going for a run, you better be sure to don your running shoes! 1 - Bang Bang… When Secret Service agents do their training, they’re shot with fake bullets. The reason they do that is so that the agents get a feel of the impact of the shot, and also know exactly where they’ve been hit or where they’ve connected with their target. It hurts, but it’s the best way to receive the proper training.
