Discover your unique LEARNING STYLE: Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic

09:01
Did you know that everyone learns differently? In fact, there are three main learning styles among students: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. You may be more comfortable with one or a combination of these learning styles. Do you know what kind of learner you are? In this lesson, you will find out how to learn anything more quickly, easily, and effectively, including English! Take charge of your success in your personal, academic, and professional life. This is an essential lesson for students, parents, teachers, and adults in all fields. For more free information about learning styles and how to learn more effectively, go to https://www.studyingstyle.com . Take the quiz: http://www.engvid.com/discover-your-unique-learning-style-visual-auditory-kinesthetic/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. My name's Rebecca, and in this lesson I'm going to explain to you about something called learning styles. This lesson is good not only for English learners for whom I usually make lessons, but also for anyone in general who's trying to learn more effectively. Now, the thing to remember is that not everybody learns in the same way. I have a particular way of learning, you have a way of learning, so does your brother, your friend, your cousin. Okay? So what's important when you're trying to learn is to discover: What is your learning style? And that's what this lesson will show. All right? Let's go to the board. There are three main learning styles. About 60% of the population are visual learners, about 30% of the population are auditory learners, and about 10% are kinesthetic learners. Okay? And as I read through the characteristics, you'll probably be able to identify who you are and what kind of way you learn best because you will recognize what you enjoy doing, and what you enjoy doing tells you what kind of learner you are and what kind of a learning style you have. Okay? So, the visual learner, of course, enjoys learning by seeing; auditory by hearing; and the kinesthetic by actually doing something. I'll explain what that means. So, visual learner will enjoy reading information from books, and the internet, and so on; auditory will enjoy talking and hearing lectures; and the kinesthetic person will enjoy participating in experiences. All right? Visual learner will also enjoy diagrams, pictures, maps. You enjoy writing things down on pen and paper in order to really understand them and remember them. Okay? Or into the computer, but you need to see it written down somewhere. You don't feel like you've actually understood until you've written it down. That's how I actually learn. And also enjoy reading the news. All right? An auditory person, as I said, enjoys lectures, music, they enjoy hearing instructions, receiving verbal instructions. This person will need to read instructions before doing something or going somewhere, and this person will prefer to be told the instructions. Okay? They also enjoy participating in discussions, debates. They usually memorize well, and they also have been told... Maybe you've been told you have an ear for languages. If you have an ear for languages that means you are probably an auditory learner. And you probably enjoy listening to the news versus reading the news. All right? The kinesthetic learner is in the minority, and usually has a harder time at school, college, university, because in those educational establishments you have to sit down-right?-when you're learning, supposedly. They don't give you a lot of space to move around, so that person is a little bit more challenged. They may have had a hard time going through school because of that. And so, let's look at what that person actually enjoys doing or how they enjoy learning. You enjoy participating in experiences, going on field trips, building a model of something in order to understand the concept, not just reading about it, and also moving. Okay? Doing things with the information. So, next I'll give you various strategies you can use if you are a visual learner, or an auditory learner, or a kinesthetic learner.

Key to Learning Video Test - TRUE test for YOUR WAY to learn!

09:32
This is the Featured video in Suzanne Gose's new book: The Key to Learning Anything. The video, unlike the countless surveys and questionnaires out there for learning styles, can NOT be skewed. Meaning, if you THINK you're a visual learner, then you most likely (unintentionally of course) answer the questions based on that assumption. For the test here, YOUR BRAIN does the answering. You will not be depending on your logic, emotions, or past experiences. Time after time, audience members are shocked in my seminars when they discover their learning style is NOT visual, based on their experience with this test. Well, since you didn't get to come to my last seminar (most likely) here is a video format for you. ENJOY! I look forward to reading your comments. My hope is that this tool, and my book, will help you to achieve your greatest potential, and truly ENJOY learning.... ANYTHING!
Skillsroad Teachers Lesson Plans - Lesson 4 - "Learning Styles"

01:19
"Lesson 4 - Learning Styles It’s one thing providing students with great free resources, but it’s another thing helping them make sense of the results and to distil the information to use effectively. This lesson introduces students to the differences in learning styles that exist between people. Students are encouraged to begin to consider how consideration of their individual preferences and characteristics can help guide their career decisions. Students are asked to pick from descriptions of learning styles that they feel are most representative of them before completing a Learning Styles Questionnaire to determine their personal leaning preferences. Each learning preference is then explained in more detail and students are asked to reflect on how accurate they were in selecting their learning style preferences before they completed the questionnaire. The value of being aware of their individual learning style is then discussed. Please Note - This is only an introduction to the lesson plan - please view the full lesson plan at http://www.skillsroad.com.au/teachers/lesson-plans-and-resources/career-planning-lesson-plans"

A study on innovative teaching learning methods fo

01:06
A Study on Innovative Teaching Learning Methods for Undergraduate Students ABSTRACT: Teachers use different teaching methods depending on the nature of subject, number of students, and the facilities available in the classroom. Lecture method, Group discussion, Individual presentation, Assignment, Seminars, Workshops, Role play and Case study are various common methods used in classroom teaching. Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. The purpose of the education is not only to make the students literate but also to make them creative, knowledgeable, think of their own and to meet the workforce .The success of a student depends on the teacher and the innovative methods which they incorporate in teaching. KEYWORDS: Education, Innovative, Learning, Teaching, workforce, learner centred INTRODUCTION: Education plays an important role in today’s world. Over the decades there had been rapid increase in the higher education system. Our education system is geared towards teaching and testing knowledge at every level as opposed to teaching skills . OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY: 1. To suggest Innovative methods in Teaching and learning 2. To study Innovative methods in online teaching via Learning Management system (LMS) or virtual learning Environment (VLE) RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: The required data of research was collected to a survey conducted among undergraduate students. A research paper is based on structured questionnaire. Exploratory research methodology is used here to analyze the data. Data was collected from multiple sources such as journals, books and blogs to understand the teaching learning paradigm. In this paper, we have referred previous research articles. WHY INNOVATION IS IMPORTANT FOR HIGHER EDUCATION: Education is a very powerful instrument for social change and transformation and innovative teaching practice is the only way to enhance the quality of our education. The use of innovative methods in educational institutions has the potential not only to improve education, but also to develop creativity, empower people, strengthen governance and galvanize the effort to achieve the human development goal for the country. A bachelor's degree is life training. And the best time to get a chunk of that under your belt is in those transition years as you are first forming ideas about what you want to do with your life-- inside and outside of your career. Even the Ministry of HRD has insisted all the educational institutions to use the technology in classroom. As per MHRD report highest numbers of students have been enrolled at Undergraduate level across India. A country’s future rests on the shoulders of its youth and children, quite specifically on how they are taught and engaged to think and act. STUDENT ENROLMENT: LEVEL-WISE ENROLMENT Figure Source: MHRD.gov DATA ANALYSE AND INTERPRETATION: A questionnaire is prepared to obtain the students’ perspective on different teaching methods are used in the traditional classroom and online teaching via Learning Management System (LMS) or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Figures 1 and 2 clearly illustrating the comparison among students’ perspective in faculties of IT and management on teaching methods used in traditional classroom. As indicated in figure 1, Lecture and Assignment methods show 27% and 30% respectively, interest to students in the faculty of IT. The other interested teaching methods are Individual Presentations, Seminars and Debate. Survey outcome clearly indicates that the workshop is the common accepted teaching method for both faculties of IT (23%) and Management (24%).

How to Pass The Firefighter Test

06:27
How to Pass The Firefighter Test http://www.firefighter-cheat-sheet.com/ https://www.facebook.com/iwillhelpyoubecomeafirefighter There are quite a number of written tests that are involved in the process of selecting firefighters. Normally the design of these tests is that of multiple choice questions and their main aim is to test whether the candidate has the required aptitude and ability to succeed as a firefighter. Usually, the tests are administered in a Fire Service establishment or a local test center. They require approximately 3 hours to finish. The good thing about it is that all the firefighter test requirements are sent to you before the day of sitting the test. The firefighter test is normally divided into the following two categories: - Ability Tests This will test your ability to work with numbers, to understand information relayed to you and your level of situational awareness and problem solving skills. The written firefighter tests are split into two different categories as follows: - The National Firefighter Questionnaire The main purpose of this questionnaire is to prompt the candidate to give information on his or her behavior and style. The information that is provided in this questionnaire combined with the results that you get from the other test are used to make a decision as to whether or not you can be a good firefighter. To be able to pass this test, it is imperative that you adequately prepare yourself. You have to get into that room knowing exactly what you are going to do there and what is required to you. Before you go into that room, ask yourself the following questions: - Why did the Fire Fighting Department choose to assess my ability in these specific areas? - What is it exactly that they expect to get from the successful candidates? Take time to brainstorm the answers to this question. Ensure that the answers that you go with are specific to you and not generic ones. Once you get the answers, go ahead to draw a plan on how you are actually going to achieve the answers. Remember that for you to succeed in getting into the firefighting department you have to give them what they want. Thus it is imperative that you work on finding out how best you can deliver what they are looking for the moment you find out what they are looking for. For an inside look into what will be on the written firefighter examination, visit: http://www.firefighter-cheat-sheet.com/ where professional firefighters have revealed the psychology behind your entrance exam and how to pass! When you go to undertake the tests, ensure that you treat them with utmost seriousness. Remember that this job involves saving the lives of people; it is always practically a life or death situation with this job. You have to be fully aware of what you are getting yourself into and give it the seriousness that it deserves. This will help you to succeed for years in the field.

Questionnaires and Polls - CPD Portfolio Building Guide

01:04
Lets consider how Questionnaires can be used as evidence. A questionnaire is an instrument consisting of a series of questions and other prompts for the purpose of gathering information from respondents. Questionnaires may be uploaded which you yourself have completed or whereby you have asked others to complete, remembering confidentiality. The questionnaire can be uploaded as a document or the web address of the online questionnaire detailed. You could discuss the development of the questionnaire; its intended audience and a discussion of the results and its impact of your knowledge and skills. You may for example undertake a learning style questionnaire and discuss within the activity your individual results, a discussion about your preferred or indicated learning style and intended future actions. Uploading the completed questionnaire will give you a reference and consolidate your description of that activity.

YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/statisticsinstructor Video Transcript: In this video we'll take a look at how to enter questionnaire or survey data into SPSS and this is something that a lot of people have questions with so it's important to make sure when you're working with SPSS in particular when you're entering data from a survey that you know how to do. Let's go ahead and take a few moments to look at that. And here you see on the right-hand side of your screen I have a questionnaire, a very short sample questionnaire that I want to enter into SPSS so we're going to create a data file and in this questionnaire here I've made a few modifications. I've underlined some variable names here and I'll talk about that more in a minute and I also put numbers in parentheses to the right of these different names and I'll also explain that as well. Now normally when someone sees this survey we wouldn't have gender underlined for example nor would we have these numbers to the right of male and female. So that's just for us, to help better understand how to enter these data. So let's go ahead and get started here. In SPSS the first thing we need to do is every time we have a possible answer such as male or female we need to create a variable in SPSS that will hold those different answers. So our first variable needs to be gender and that's why that's underlined there just to assist us as we're doing this. So we want to make sure we're in the Variable View tab and then in the first row here under Name we want to type gender and then press ENTER and that creates the variable gender. Now notice here I have two options: male and female. So when people respond or circle or check here that they're male, I need to enter into SPSS some number to indicate that. So we always want to enter numbers whenever possible into SPSS because SPSS for the vast majority of analyses performs statistical analyses on numbers not on words. So I wouldn't want and enter male, female, and so forth. I want to enter one's, two's and so on. So notice here I just arbitrarily decided males get a 1 and females get a 2. It could have been the other way around but since male was the first name listed I went and gave that 1 and then for females I gave a 2. So what we want to do in our data file here is go head and go to Values, this column, click on the None cell, notice these three dots appear they're called an ellipsis, click on that and then our first value notice here 1 is male so Value of 1 and then type Label Male and then click Add. And then our second value of 2 is for females so go ahead and enter 2 for Value and then Female, click Add and then we're done with that you want to see both of them down here and that looks good so click OK. Now those labels are in here and I'll show you how that works when we enter some numbers in a minute. OK next we have ethnicity so I'm going to call this variable ethnicity. So go ahead and type that in press ENTER and then we're going to the same thing we're going to create value labels here so 1 is African-American, 2 is Asian-American, and so on. And I'll just do that very quickly so going to Values column, click on the ellipsis. For 1 we have African American, for 2 Asian American, 3 is Caucasian, and just so you can see that here 3 is Caucasian, 4 is Hispanic, and other is 5, so let's go ahead and finish that. Four is Hispanic, 5 is other, so let's go to do that 5 is other. OK and that's it for that variable. Now we do have it says please state I'll talk about that next that's important when they can enter text we have to handle that differently.

Swift: Create a Questionnaire App using UITableView Programmatically (Part 1)

27:07
Welcome back for another tutorial guys! Today's goal is to learn how to use UINavigationController and UITableViewController to create a very elegant Personality Type questionnaire App. Along the way, we'll also learn how to modify the UINavigationBar's tint color, title color, and status bar style color. In addition, we learn how to create section headers using UITableViewHeaderFooterView and cells using UITableViewCell. Lastly we touch upon how to do some nifty math using the modulas operation "%" to grade the questionnaire result score and return an actual personality type. Here's the link to the completed project to Part 1 of this tutorial: https://github.com/purelyswift/personality_type_app_part1 Stay tuned for Part 2!

Papers 3: Learning - The effects of learning style on user reactions to museum websites

19:16
Papers 3: Learning Salone dei Cinquecento, Thursday, February 20, 2014 Helen Petrie, UK The effects of learning style on user reactions to museum websites Museum websites are becoming important learning resources, whether for students studying for a particular course (formal learning), or visitors interested in a particular exhibit following up on what they have seen (informal learning). Museum website developers are clearly endeavouring to provide information for a diverse range of learning situations, with interesting and easy to use presentation of material. One aspect of the situation that museum web developers may well not have considered is the differing “learning styles” of users of their websites. Learning style is a concept widely used in education, although it is not without controversy. But it is clear that some people prefer to learn in different ways, for example some people learn better with information presented as pictures and diagrams (Visual learners), whereas others learn better from reading text (Verbal learners). To investigate this area, we undertook a study of how people with different learning styles react to different kinds of material on museum websites. The Felder-Solomon model of learning styles was chosen for a number of reasons, firstly because it is well established in educational circles and secondly because it is easy to assess an individual’s learning style with a short free online questionnaire (available at: www.engr.ncsu.edu/learningstyles/ilsweb.html). The Felder-Solomon model proposes four dimensions of learning style: Visual/Verbal, Active/Reflective, Sensing/Intuitive and Sequential/Global. The Visual/Verbal dimension has been illustrated above. Active learners like to do things with information to learn and retain it, whereas Reflective learners prefer just to think about the information. Sensing learners like facts and well-established methods whereas Intuitive learners like abstractions and discovering relationships and possibilities. Finally, Sequential learners like to work in a linear sequence of logical steps, whereas Global learners like to see the big picture first and then fill in the details (for a full explanation of these dimensions, see http://www4.ncsu.edu/unity/lockers/users/f/felder/public/ILSdir/styles.htm). 146 university students were asked to undertake a number of typical information seeking tasks on two museum websites (British Museum – www.britishmuseum.org/ and Wellcome Collection – www.wellcomecollection.org/); the tasks were constructed so that they would lead the participants to pages with different kinds of materials which would suit people with different learning styles. After using each website, participants answered the Index of Learning Styles to assess where they are on the Felder-Solomon learning style dimensions and a set of questions that assessed their reactions both to the website as a whole for user experience and usability and to particular aspects of the presentation of information on the website. Results showed that people with different learning styles were significantly more attracted to different aspects of the websites. For example, Active participants preferred large images Visual participants preferred pages with lots of images, Sensing participants preferred concrete examples of concepts, whereas Intuitive participants preferred abstract discussions. The paper will consider the implications of these results and present guidelines for how museum websites can organize their website material to be attractive and useful to visitors with differing learning styles.
