A Red iPhone 7? As much as I support the cause product red is pushing for, I'm not sure I support a money grabbing move like selling them half way before an "iPhone 8" is released. But their new iPad seems really interesting. So guys, be sure to tell me how YOU feel about these new red iPhone 7, red iPhone 7 plus, and iPad!
Apple silently updated their iPhones and iPads. But, are they worth it.
The strangest thing happened Tuesday morning. Apple released new products without telling anyone. Which is a surprise to me because this company usually loves throwing extravagant and sometimes utterly pointless events to showcase their new products or sometimes, their lack of new products like when they decided to just primarily market watchbands. Today they released a new iPhone and New iPad. And by New iPhone. I mean that with quotation marks. A Product (Red) iPhone 7. I mean I’m cool with it and all but honestly, I feel like they only did this only to rejuvenate iPhone 7 sales before the next model comes out. Which by the way is another 6 months. It’s a money grab move, simple as that.
Think about it like this, if you were gonna be an iPhone 7 and wanted the latest and greatest, you probably have one. Nice money grabbing Apple. Seriously this is lame. If this was released when the iPhone 7 DEBUTED? Great. But here we are in an age where a new color of a product is “cool” and “new”. Trust me, this isn’t a rant because the next product they did surprised me. And honestly, It’s a great idea.
They released a new iPad. As you know iPad sales have been on the decline and they needed to make an incentive to make sure people buy it. And to be honest this might work. No. They didn’t make a red iPad. That’d be crazy. But what I’m talking about is the all “new” iPad. Seems like they’ve dropped the “Air” moniker on their iPad line. I guess you can say it “vanished into thin air” Ha. But the most important thing is the iPad now starts at $329 dollars. The last model, the Air 2 started at $499 at release and dropped down to $399 when they introduced their iPad Pro line. What I’m trying to say is, this one isn’t just a price drop. It’s an overall better machine because of what has changed. Its processor.
They are changing it from the more power hungry Apple A8X Chip to a more battery friendly but with beefier performance A9 chip. Which means it’d have the performance horsepower of an iPhone 6s or 6s+ plus with the battery capacity of an iPad. What that means is this thing will probably be KILLER in the battery life department. I think I just jinxed it. But we’ll see. It opens for order on Friday, March 24th.
The reason why this device is significant is because it opens the price for an entry level 9.7in iPad. At a rock bottom price. Don’t believe me? The cheapest device with this processor is their iPhone SE a device that costs 400 dollars. So tell me. Does size matter when it comes to these two? You tell me. The downside? Apple removed the laminated display and their anti-reflective covering. Which means more reflections and a less color accurate display. Not necessarily deal-breakers but food for thought. Much like Apple’s wallet, It has gained some weight. It weighs as much as the original air tablet.
So this is the conclusion I came to. They have come up with a strong product offering in the new “budget” iPad. For the general consumer, it’s much better than the much more expensive iPad Pros. I can’t say the same about the new red iPhones. Oh and Apple. Update the MacBook. It’s been a year.
