14 Dangerous Products You Need To Throw Away Right Now

10:04
Here are the 14 objects you need to throw away right now for your safety. #Safety #LifeHacks #Tips Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music Summary: 1. Pancake Mix. Wait one minute before grabbing those cleaning supplies because it’s time to hit the pantry. First, get rid of that old pancake mix. Snopes.com says that pancake mix can produce mold. Mold can produce not only gross pancakes but can be life-threatening as well. 2. Off-brand phone chargers. Now, you’re probably saying, I don’t want to pay $30 for an iPhone charger. While it may be tempting to buy off brand phone chargers from the dollar store, they actually do more harm than good! Off brand chargers sometimes can do some awful damage to your expensive smartphone. 3. Some expired medications. While not all medications become toxic, the experts at healthyway.com agree that psychiatric drugs should definitely not be kept past their expiration date, as well as eye drops, as both can become toxic. Certain medications may experience changes in chemical properties as they get older. They also become weaker and potentially unsafe. 4. Expired skin products and makeup. Get rid of all your expired skin products and makeup! Especially sunscreen. Research from healthyway.com has shown that after a while, sunscreen can lose its potency, which would be a major bummer after a long day at the beach. Especially if you have pale skin and tend to burn easily! 5. Old toothbrushes. You know that sticky old brush you put in your mouth (hopefully) twice a day? Turns out you need to change that every 3 to 4 months, according to the American Dental Association. They can harbor microorganisms that: “could cause oral and/or systemic infection”. 6. The kitchen sponge. Scientists have found that old kitchen sponges can host a bunch of bacteria, and when it’s left at room temperature, that bacteria multiply. Time to ditch that dirty old sponge! Although most of the bacteria that is found in kitchen sponges aren't harmful, there are certain pathogens that could cause infections. 7. Plastic cutting boards. Plastic cutting boards can harbor some pretty gross bacteria. According to an article by NC State University, bacteria forms in those creases you’re making while cutting kale or some other fashionable diet. Ditch the plastic, and buy some wood! 8. Plastic containers. BPA is the reason you should be ditching those plastic containers of yours, or at least the ones that have either a “7” or a “pc” on them. What’s BPA you ask? Health.com states that BPA is a harmful synthetic compound that can leak into your food. BPA stands for bisphenol A, and is a type of industrial chemical which is used to make certain plastics. BPA is usually found in plastic food containers and water bottles. 9. Diet Soda. According to health.com, diet soda contains the sweeteners saccharin and sucralose, which can affect your body negatively and give you intolerances. Because diet soda has fake sugar in it, it tricks your body into thinking it is drinking real sugar. This makes your body confused on how it should respond. Physiologically speaking, this means that when you drink diet soda, your body is not releasing the hormone that is responsible for regulating blood sugar as well as blood pressure. 10. Dirty or old air filters. Yes, some companies have promised to phase out the harmful phthalates, but some still contain them. Phthalates are harmful to the development of the reproductive system. Dirty or old air filters are home to all sorts of allergens, mold, and dust. This can reduce the airflow in a home, which is why you should always throw out old or dirty air filters. 11. Unclean contact lens case. Optometrists at health.com say that you should buy a new contact lens case every three months, as the dirty ones can cause damage to your eyes. 12. Old clothing. Psychiatrists and mental health professionals agree this is more of a mental thing than a life-threatening one, but ditch those old clothes! They’re cluttering your closet and making you feel trapped in your own home! Consider giving them away to charity. 13. Air fresheners. According to the experts at health.com, air fresheners feature 2, 5-dichlorophenol (2, 5-DCP), a metabolite of 1,4-dichlorobenzene, which is linked to many health-related issues, including cancer. 14. Non-stick cookware. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that nonstick cookware likely contains a carcinogen. Switch to glass or ceramic, or use some PAM instead!. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to Bestie : https://goo.gl/tUqro6 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bestieinc/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.bestie.com/

Bulking | Cutting | The Truth!!

07:08
Put the science back in strength - http://athleanx.com/x/science Subscribe to this channel here - http://bit.ly/2b0coMW Bulking and cutting is one of the most popular methods of adding muscle fast, but does it work the way you hope it would? In this video, I’m going to show you how you can actually build muscle and burn fat at the same time and significantly change the look of your body by doing so. I will also cover some of the potential pitfalls on the way to the perfect bulk and cut that could be undercutting your end result. To start, it helps to discuss what the theory behind bulking and cutting is for putting on muscle. That discussion needs to start with a determination of what you ultimately want to look like at the end of your bulk and cut. If your goal is to wind up with nothing but pure lean muscle gain then you will have to identify that and understand that your cut is going to have to be precise and must be able to last for the duration. In other words, you will have to cut until every bit of excess body fat that you put on is no longer there, while making sure not to compromise any of the lean muscle mass you added in the process. If on the other hand you simply want to add “size”, for lack of a better term (meaning pack on partial amounts of lean muscle and body fat) then your goals and the practicality of the process would become much simpler to adhere to. For the purposes of this video and channel however, we are assuming that the end product of your bulk and cut would be to add pure lean muscle gains without body fat hiding what you have done. With this said, I argue that this whole process does not have to be segmented into a bulking phase and a cutting phase but rather can be achieved at once (with a significant impact on how you look and feel at the end). By being hypo caloric and maintaining a positive nitrogen balance you can definitely add muscle and burn fat at the same time, albeit at a slightly slower but much more consistent and maintainable rate. When the longevity of your appearance and gains is what is paramount, the alternative of spending half the year fat and a few months comfortable enough with your physique to take off your shirt is not an option. When you bulk and cut at the same time you can walk around 365 days a year looking your best while steadily accruing lean muscle year over year. The risk of bulking and then cutting is often that the adaptation to going into a sustainable hypo caloric diet becomes daunting and as soon as it cannot be maintained, the results are lost. Many people will enter into a bulk and never fully come out of it. There are many a gym filled with guys spending hours each week on cardio trying to reverse the effects of a long ago bulk gone wrong. If instead you focused on staying slightly hypocaloric while increasing your protein intake to support positive nitrogen balance needed to keep a net protein synthesis, you would find that you could add pure lean muscle more consistently. Now, this process will be a slightly slower one than trying to force your body to grow more quickly but the end result will be more sustainable and consistent. For a complete program that walks you through the process of eating foods you love while allowing you to lose fat if you desire while adding pure lean muscle, head to http://athleanx.com and get the ATHLEAN-X Training System. Learn to eat and train like an athlete and get gains that you can keep and proudly show off three hundred and sixty five days a year. FDA to phase out antibiotics in animal feed

01:24
The Food and Drug Administration announced a plan last week to phase antibiotics out of animal feed, citing growing public health concerns. Experts say humans are consuming too many antibiotics, leading to an increase in antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that every year 2 million people get sick from drug-resistant superbugs, and 22,000 of those people die. The FDA is targeting antimicrobials added to feed to fatten animals up and add more meat. RT's Meghan Lopez tells us how the FDA plans to phase out the use of antibiotics in livestock, which makes up 80 percent of all antibiotic use. Research - Students of Product Design - Episode 2

13:31
In this second espisode for Students of Product design I'm looking at research. As a student I was often tempted to skip the research phase of a design project and jump straight into sketching concepts, because that was where I felt most comfortable. It wasn't until I was employed as a product designer that I realised how important product design research is. As I've stated in the video, product design is for people, so you have to research their struggles, motivations and desires, otherwise you'll just end up designing things for yourself. Research improves the quality and outcome of your projects. Design Research is quite a difficult subject to tackle in a YouTube video and a lot of the time the only way to learn is to simply get out and talk to people, ask questions and develop your communication skills. It's also important whenever possible that you record your research, so you can review it to see what insight people have given you, to analyse where you can improve and when you're a student, to prove to your tutor that you haven't spent the whole time in bed! Research is the one thing many industrial design students don't do enough in university. There is often a barrier to it, because students feel they should be spending their time learning other skills like sketching and CAD, for some reason, talking to people requires confidence, which is why students often hide behind surveys put up on forums. If you are confident you can ask people in the street, but if you want to start with something less intimidating, talk to family and friends, or join a discussion club, but don't ignore doing research, it's at the core of good product design. I hope you enjoy Students of Product Design Episode 2, further reading can be found below: A great resource for design research: http://www.uxbooth.com/articles/complete-beginners-guide-to-design-research/ Watch out for leading questions: http://researchaccess.com/2013/07/leading-questions/ If you need responses from professionals and a great resource for all things product design: www.core77.com http://boards.core77.com www.producttank.co.uk

The user centred design process

07:24
The user centred design process is a project approach that puts the user of a site at the centre of its design and development. This guarantees that the site will be easy to use and focuses the designer on providing a better experience for real customer needs. There are 4 stages that include many different tools and techniques to help you along the way. With every business solving a problem at it’s core, the main idea of UCD is to achieve a greater understanding of the problem by including the customer in the design process early and empowering you with various research techniques. Using this information you can propose a solution that is simple to use, understand and have the security that any problems with the design are fixed along the way through constant testing. This is an iterative process meaning that once the process is completed a new cycle can begin using the new data to kick start the process again. The first phase of the UCD is the Research & Analysis section, this is where we try to really understand who we are designing for. I would argue that this is the most important piece of the whole design process because there are various activities here that can really help you during the rest of the project. Creating Personas can bring to life your users and help you understand their tasks better. You can really include some detailed descriptions here using any data that you have gathered on your customers. I really like the website YouGov profiles at today.yougov.com/profileslite here you can type in any brand, person or thing and the system compiles a profile from their stored data on over 150,000 accounts to give you a great description of your user. It’s worth a try as the free data is really good. Asking users questions through surveys can gather some useful information. It’s really useful when customers just tell your their expectations. Survey Monkey is my go-to tool for surveys as they have a great feature where you can select certain demographics and the system will send out your survey and get results for your desired number of participants. This comes at a fee but is well worth it if you work in a company and don’t have any current customers to send the survey to. Another important task during the research phase is to perform interviews with colleagues and stakeholders on the project. This really makes sure that you are meeting all the business requirements and everyone really feels like they are part of the design process from the beginning. I found this a great thing to do at the start of the project to integrate myself into the team and make everyone else feel valued. Once we have a deeper insight into the problems our users are facing we can get going on the ideation phase of the project. This is where we can really have some fun and get creative. But before we actually start sketching page designs it’s really important that we take a look holistically at the entire journey that the customer will go on when using our product or service. Most of the time we are designing within a system and it’s essential to have an understanding of how everything fits together. When we understand the machine we can then design the individual parts with greater precision. Stories have defined our world, they have been with us since early human history and can convey a message that touches our soul. To tell our user's story we are going to use a process called customer journey mapping. This is a technique where we illustrate the entire process we are designing for. How you illustrate this is up to you, it could be simple text or it could be a wonderful colour illustration. I found that the bigger the better. When I was working in a global company we had a large industrial printer and I had the customer journey map printed off about 10 foot long and stuck up on the wall of the office. This really is a great way to get the whole team involved, just watch the printing bill!

The free energy released in this process is used to form the high-energy molecules ATP (adenosine triphosphate) and NADH (reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide). Glycolysis is a determined sequence of ten enzyme-catalyzed reactions. The intermediates provide entry points to glycolysis. For example, most monosaccharides, such as fructose and galactose, can be converted to one of these intermediates. The intermediates may also be directly useful. For example, the intermediate dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) is a source of the glycerol that combines with fatty acids to form fat. Glycolysis is an oxygen independent metabolic pathway, meaning that it does not use molecular oxygen (i.e. atmospheric oxygen) for any of its reactions. However the products of glycolysis (pyruvate and NADH + H+) are sometimes metabolized using atmospheric oxygen.[4] When molecular oxygen is used for the metabolism of the products of glycolysis the process is usually referred to as aerobic, whereas if no oxygen is used the process is said to be anaerobic.[5] Thus, glycolysis occurs, with variations, in nearly all organisms, both aerobic and anaerobic. The wide occurrence of glycolysis indicates that it is one of the most ancient metabolic pathways.[6] Indeed, the reactions that constitute glycolysis and its parallel pathway, the pentose phosphate pathway, occur metal-catalyzed under the oxygen-free conditions of the Archean oceans, also in the absence of enzymes. Glycolysis could thus have originated from chemical constraints of the prebiotic world. Glycolysis occurs in most organisms in the cytosol of the cell. The most common type of glycolysis is the Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas (EMP pathway), which was discovered by Gustav Embden, Otto Meyerhof, and Jakub Karol Parnas. Glycolysis also refers to other pathways, such as the Entner–Doudoroff pathway and various heterofermentative and homofermentative pathways. However, the discussion here will be limited to the Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas pathway. Preparatory phase The first five steps are regarded as the preparatory (or investment) phase, since they consume energy to convert the glucose into two three-carbon sugar phosphates Pay-off phase The second half of glycolysis is known as the pay-off phase, characterised by a net gain of the energy-rich molecules ATP and NADH. Since glucose leads to two triose sugars in the preparatory phase, each reaction in the pay-off phase occurs twice per glucose molecule. This yields 2 NADH molecules and 4 ATP molecules, leading to a net gain of 2 NADH molecules and 2 ATP molecules from the glycolytic pathway per glucose. You might have a steep downswing because of your takeaway. You might have a decent takeaway, but you really pull your arms and hands down faster than the top of the backswing. You might go up to the top and your right elbow goes way out and it stays way out when you come down. I don't know why you're steep without seeing your swing, but I do know some feels you can use to fix It. Regardless of why you're doing it, you can start the process of getting rid of it by getting a feeling of where the club head and the weight of the club is in space. If I want to shallow my downswing, during the early transition phase I want to feel the weight of the club much more. I feel that the club head is much more behind my hands and I also feel that it's lower in space. To start to practice with that, I go up to the top of my backswing. I’ll do three swings without a. ball. Up to the top of my backswing - and in the slowest motion possible - I'm going to get the club head behind my hands and get all the way down to impact into follow through. What I want in the beginning is super slow motion.. After we do three swings with no ball, we're going to start the process of doing swings with a ball. if you do this correctly, you will probably hit several fat and thin shots in the beginning because your brain has absolutely no idea how to get the club from back here to the ball, so your low point will probably be behind the ball. You will do three swings with no ball, slow motion,. Then you will do three swings with a ball, slow motion and hitting, and then you will gradually add some speed. Now, let's say I add some speed and I'm going pretty full and then I get steep again. What do I do? I slow it down! I'm doing the same thing. Maybe I'll come back 10, 20 percent speed and build my way up again. This will work in terms of showing your downswing. Wrap your head around the idea of where the weight of the club is and use that as a feel. ___________________ Follow and Like us at: http://www.instagram.com/ericcogorno http://www.pinterest.com/ericcogornogolf #ericcogornogolf **I may earn a small commission for my endorsement, recommendation, testimonial, and/or link to any products or services recommended on Eric Cogorno Golf sites. UW Certificate in Software Product Management

01:57
Adam Grupp, an instructor for the Certificate in Software Product Management, explains what students gain from the program and how they can apply it to their careers. Learn more here: https://www.pce.uw.edu/certificates/software-product-management Video Transcript: Software product management is really about beginning with a customer and a problem — defining that, developing it and then taking that into a development phase where you identify opportunities to solve that problem that accompany business opportunity. In the program, we start you off with a case where you work with a team all year long to develop that customer problem and the concept for your solution, and from there you work with the team to refine requirements. And by the end of the year, students have worked through the full process of defining an opportunity, developing the solution concept, refining those priorities, and taking it to market. Students come out of this program with a clear sense for what it means to prioritize, to think critically about product and, ultimately, to pivot when things have to change. It's an incredibly challenging thing to do when you're the product manager — the CEO of the product — but you get a chance to practice that here in this program in a safe environment with lots of direct feedback from your instructors and from your classmates. We've seen many of our students use this program as a springboard into a product manager role that they didn't already have or to help reinforce their success as a product manager in a current role. We also have, as instructors, tried to be resources to our students as they graduate and move on and to be a part of their network moving forward to help them identify opportunities and then to be a part of the product manager community here in Seattle. Our alumni of the program work all over the Puget Sound region in a variety of companies: Boeing, Starbucks, Microsoft, Tableau, you name it. What we see is that people come out of this program with a lot more confidence in their abilities, a lot more of the knowhow and the acumen required to be a successful product manager and, frankly, a network of motivated product managers, who come from this same program, who are out there to do cool things and take the world by storm.

Design Thinking

08:11
For the full course see: https://goo.gl/S3Q8XD Follow along with the course eBook: https://goo.gl/ZZqUzY Design thinking is a design process that enables us to solve complex problems. It combines deep end-user experience, systems thinking, iterative rapid prototyping and multi-stakeholder feedback to guide us through the successive stages in our design. Produced by: http://complexitylabs.io Twitter: https://goo.gl/ZXCzK7 Facebook: https://goo.gl/P7EadV LinkedIn: https://goo.gl/3v1vwF Transcription: Design thinking, is a design process that enables us to solve complex problems, It combines deep end-user experience, systems thinking, iterative rapid prototyping and multi-stake holder feedback to guid us through the successive stages in our design. Design thinking like complex systems is interdisciplinary. It cuts across traditional domains by recognising that everything in our world is designed, thus it takes design out of its comfort zone of building chairs and fancy coffee cups to apply it to all areas from designing effective organisations to creating health care and financial services. The design process is a bit like blowing up a balloon and then slowly letting all the air out of it again, it requires an initial phase of divergent thinking where we ask expansive question to explore the full context and many different possible options, before having to narrow our vision down upon a single solution and refining it through convergent thinking. But this process is not mechanical it is more evolutionary meaning we can not fully foresee the end product from inception, it emerges and thus we need to think about the future in a open way, that means having confidence in the possibility that an unknown outcome is feasible as the whole point of the design process is that we will create something that does not yet exist and thus is unforeseen. But we don’t have to reinvent the design process wheel every time, there are a few broad stages to it which different people will define in different ways but we are going to talk about some of the most often identified phases in the design thinking process, they include the stages of researching ideating, prototyping and testing. These steps don’t necessary follow a linear path; they can occur simultaneously and be repeated. Firstly the researching phase, what we are doing here is not creating a thing, what we are creating is a solution, and this solution is a solution to a problem that a particular person or people have. Thus we need to understand the context within which our system will exist and where it lies in relation to other thing within that environment, it is only when we see the given context within which a pre-existing version of the system operates that we get a full insight into why it is the way it is and from this can begin to conceive of an improved solution. When we don’t understand the context then we will be likely to simply go round in circles, simply reacting to the pre-exists existing solution. One generation of designers decide that straight lines are the greatest thing extolling all their virtues making everything square and rectangular with pointy corners, until the next generation of designers come along who are now sick of straight lines so they start a new revolution of curves and rounded corners, until everyone gets tired of all the curves and rediscovers the straight line again and so on. By understanding the context and the history of the context to a design we can see its parameters, the advantages and disadvantages of both extremes and try to find integrative solution. If we remember there is aways two qualitatively different level to a complex system, the local and the global, as designers of the system we will be dealing with it primary on the macro scale, but at the end of the day everything really plays out on the local level and we need to understand that local context where people interact and live out their lives through these products and services. People can’t always express what exactly the problem is or know exactly what it is they want, so we need deep emersion to piece it together for ourselves, ethnographic studies, customer journey maps, all forms of enduser experience and importantly empathy.

Safeway to phase out gestation cages for pigs

00:34
Supermarket chain Safeway has announced plans to phase out the usage of gestation cages by its pork suppliers. Gestation cages are small pens used by pork producers to house pregnant sows. Producers say cages stop sows from fighting but animal rights groups allege the cages are unnecessary and cruel. Safeway joins food giants such as McDonald's who recently announced similar plans. How To Train For Mass | Arnold Schwarzenegger's Blueprint Training Program

17:13
Learn some of Arnold Schwarzenegger's favorite classic bodybuilding exercises and preferred training techniques for building muscle. Get the knowledge you need to train for mass! ► Arnold Schwarzenegger's Blueprint to Mass: http://bbcom.me/2EqSJTB ► Arnold Schwarzenegger's Blueprint to Cut: http://bbcom.me/2EqDPg8 When it comes to bodybuilding, Arnold Schwarzenegger knows best. His plan for quality mass and extreme strength isn't complicated. In fact, it's steeped in the fundamentals and old-school exercises that should be at the heart of everyone's program. It's a surefire road to growth, but it's fraught with pain and struggle. If you want to learn bodybuilding from the world's best bodybuilder, you're in the right place. | Basics Are Best | "The biggest mistake being made in bodybuilding today is that people aren't covering basic exercises," says the Austrian Oak. And by basic, Arnold doesn't mean easy. Many contemporary fitness centers are full of people on machines, not in squat racks, and big-box gyms often lack even a single platform. Arnold disapproves: "Today, when I go in the gymnasium, I don't see any of the kids learning about the clean and press, or the snatch, or the upright row from the floor." Schwarzenegger's insistence on the essential lifts is not due to some grandfatherly desire to live in the past. It comes from decades of continued interest and expertise in the industry, and from the hard-earned knowledge that it doesn't take fancy machines or off-the-wall programming to become arguably the best bodybuilder in history. Get back to your bodybuilding roots and experience unbelievable growth. | Arnold Schwarzenegger's Training Tips | Chest: "There are three chest exercises that should always be done," Arnold says. "The bench press, the incline bench press at different angles, and the dumbbell flye." Back: "For back, I did chin-ups, bent-over barbell and dumbbell rows, and the T-bar row. Any kind of rowing movement will give you that thickness. Those are the exercises I relied on from the beginning of my career to the end." Arms: Arnold relied on the barbell curl to build thick biceps, but he also used incline dumbbell curls and concentration curls to isolate his biceps. "For triceps," Arnold says, "we did a lot of narrow [close-grip] bench press in the early days. And then triceps push downs and overhead triceps extensions later." Shoulders: Arnold's shoulders were built by barbell presses, behind-the-neck barbell presses, lateral raises, military presses, and dumbbell presses. "We always did presses behind the neck and a special dumbbell press which would stretch out the front delt at the bottom and fully flex it at the top. Now those are called Arnold presses." Legs "The squat is the most important exercise to create big thighs," says Arnold. "I did back squats, front squats, leg extensions, lunges, single-leg deadlifts, good morning exercises, and a lot of leg curls." Abs: "The regular training we did for abs was just leg raises, knee raises, crunches, and sit-ups. We all believed in doing 500 reps of Roman chair sit-ups." ► Arnold Schwarzenegger's Blueprint Training Program: http://bbcom.me/2yHIrMh #Bodybuilding #Arnold #Motivation #BodybuildingMotivation #ArnoldSchwarzenegger ============================================= | Recommended Mass-Building Supplements | ► Protein: http://bbcom.me/2yIG7EC ► Pre-Workouts: http://bbcom.me/2yIppoW ► Testosterone Support: http://bbcom.me/2yHEdUI ► Creatine: http://bbcom.me/2yHkBQE ► Post-Workout: http://bbcom.me/2yHke8I ============================================= | Bodybuilding.com | Sales & Specials ► http://bbcom.me/1pzVaL9 Fitness Articles ► http://bbcom.me/1pzVg5e #1 Online Supplement Store ► http://bbcom.me/1pzViu5 Free Fitness Plans ► http://bbcom.me/1pzVkCb ============================================= | Follow Us | YouTube ► http://bit.ly/1RSJFa4 Facebook ► http://on.fb.me/1lomhpr Instagram ► http://bit.ly/1LzBxab Twitter ► http://bit.ly/1RSJQlL Google+ ► http://bit.ly/1NRe8qu Pinterest ► http://bit.ly/1OOZgY4 Spotify ► http://spoti.fi/1NRebm0 We are Bodybuilding.com. Why Copper is Being Phased out of Brake Pads • Cars Simplified

01:45
http://carssimplifed.com/ - Although copper has many properties ideal for brake pads, it is being phased out by the mid 2020s. Why? There are a number of environmental and financial reasons which are covered in this video. We also cover what the brake pad leaf symbols mean, and some of the less-than-pure motives behind the change. 1 Leaf/A = Not Compliant 2 Leaves/B 5% or Less 3 Leaves/N 0.5% or Less This will apply to all semi-metallic, ceramic, organic, NAO, and NAO ceramic brake pads sold for use on production/street-use vehicles. In addition to copper being removed, many heavy metals that are toxic to humans are being phased out, too. How Health Insurance Works

06:30
When I consider purchasing an individual health insurance plan for myself or my family, do I have any financial obligations beyond the monthly premium and annual deductible? Answers: It depends on the plan, but some plans have the following cost-sharing elements that you should be aware of. Co-Payments: Some plans include a co-payment, which is typically a specific flat fee you pay for each medical service, such as $30 for an office visit. After the co-payment is made, the insurance company typically pays the remainder of the covered medical charges. Deductibles: Some plans include a deductible, which typically refers to the amount of money you must pay each year before your health insurance plan starts to pay for covered medical expenses. Coinsurance: Some plans include coinsurance. Coinsurance is a cost sharing requirement that makes you responsible for paying a certain percentage of any costs. The insurance company pays the remaining percentage of the covered medical expenses after your insurance deductible is met. Out-of-pocket limit: Some plans include an out-of-pocket limit. Typically, the out-of-pocket limit is the maximum amount you will pay out of your own pocket for covered medical expenses in a given year. The out-of-pocket limit typically includes deductibles and coinsurance. But, out-of-pocket limits don't typically apply to co-payments. Lifetime maximum: Most plans include a lifetime maximum. Typically the lifetime maximum is the amount your insurance plan will pay for covered medical expenses in the course of your lifetime. Exclusions & Limitations: Most health insurance carriers disclose exclusions & limitations of their plans. It is always a good idea to know what benefits are limited and which services are excluded on your plan. You will be obligated to pay for 100% of services that are excluded on your policy. Beginning September 23, 2010, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (health care reform) begins to phase out annual dollar limits. Starting on September 23, 2012, annual limits on health insurance plans must be at least $2 million. By 2014 no new health insurance plan will be permitted to have an annual dollar limit on most covered benefits. Some health insurance plans purchased before March 23, 2010 have what is called "grandfathered status." Health Insurance Plans with Grandfathered status are exempt from several changes required by health care reform including this phase out of annual limits on health coverage. If you purchased your health insurance policy after March 23, 2010 and you're due for a routine preventive care screening like a mammogram or colonoscopy, you may be able to receive that preventive care screening without making a co-payment. You can talk to your insurer or your licensed eHealthInsurance agent if you need help determining whether or not you qualify for a screening without a co-payment. There are five important changes that occurred with individual and family health insurance policies on September 23, 2010. Those changes are: 1. Added protection from rate increases: Insurance companies will need to publically disclose any rate increases and provide justification before raising your monthly premiums. 2. Added protection from having insurance canceled: An insurance company cannot cancel your policy except in cases of intentional misrepresentations or fraud. 3. Coverage for preventive care: Certain recommended preventive services, immunizations, and screenings will be covered with no cost sharing requirement. 4. No lifetime maximums on health coverage: No lifetime limits on the dollar value of those health benefits deemed to be essential by the Department of Health and Human Services. 5. No pre-existing condition exclusions for children: If you have children under the age of 19 with pre-existing medical conditions, their application for health insurance cannot be declined due to a pre-existing medical condition. In some states a child may need to wait for the state's open-enrollment period before their application will be approved.

Edwards Air R-22 Program With heightened concerns about ozone depletion and global warming, the use of R-22 is being phased out for use in air conditioners for more environmental friendly Freon products. R-22 also known as R22_tank_#1ahydrochlorofluorocarbon or HCFC is a colorless gas that is used as a propellant and refrigerant. The Environmental Production Agency’s (EPA) apprehensions about the use of this greenhouse gas centers around the continuous demand for more air conditioning units and the negative impact increased consumption of R-22 has on the ozone layer. Although there has been a concerted shift to more ozone friendly air-conditioning and heating units for years now, some homeowners have been misled into purchasing HVAC systems that still use R-22. This misinformation coupled with phase out mandates to reduce HCFC consumption by 99.5% by 2020 has become a bit of a head scratcher for some residential and commercial consumers. Contractors at Edwards Air can provide valuable information on important aspects of the phase-out process as well as about servicing issues of R-22 equipment still in use. For instance, we help customers understand how the EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program relevant to Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, and the new Climate Action Plan impact them. As such, individuals with current air- conditioning needs will be better able to make an informed decision for acquiring new equipment or refurbishing an existing product. We also field questions such as: R22_tank_#2 What to do about the use of components such as line-sets that are in a wall and can’t be replaced How long will servicing be available for R-22 propelled units Can an R-22 system coil be used with an R-410A system; etc Edwards Air has various procedures in place for addressing those types of issues. For consumers who still have a system that uses R-22, Edwards Air can help you to transition to the newer R-410A model that satisfies the phase-out requirements. We would also like to reassure consumers that the new air- conditioning products are not only environmentally safer but also provide greater energy efficiency benefits. If you are changing from an R22 system, we offer up to $500 credit towards the purchase a (new) Air Conditioning system. How to Launch Your First Amazon FBA Product: 6 Hacks to a Home-Run Success (w/ Daniel Audunsson)

14:56
How to launch your first Amazon FBA product + 6 hacks to make it a home-run success. ►► How to Make $10,000/Month Online: http://wholesaleted.com/4-step There are 2 secrets that you need to know to launch your first Amazon FBA product and make it a home-run success even if it’s your first product. And these 2 secrets are… 1) Sales Velocity 2) Conversions These are the 2 key factors the Amazon algorithm uses when choosing which products will sit at the top of their search results (the search engine accounts for 90% of sales on Amazon). Here is what you need to do to launch your first Amazon FBA product and make it a home-run success (even if it’s your first product): You need to match (or ideally improve on) the sales velocity & conversions of your top competitor for 2 weeks. If you do this… then your item will soar to the top of the search results - and YOU’LL start making all of the organic sales for your product! Hack #1 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use product giveaways Product giveaways for your Amazon FBA private label product are one of the most powerful strategies at your disposal for massively increasing your sales velocity & conversions. You can’t give products away for free but you can give people a heavily discounted coupon that lets them buy it for just 99 cents, which means you are basically giving it away for free. And this is simple: Sign up for a service like JumpSend or ZonBlast. These services have a huge membership base of people that are keen to purchase heavily discounted items on Amazon. They will then distribute your coupon to it’s members. Not only will this drastically increase your sales, but the conversions will be high: You can expect around 50%. Hack #2 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Lower the price If your item starts getting sales (product giveaways are of course a great way to do this) and traction, you can then attract more sales from simply lowering the price below your competition for a week or two. If your product is already ranked in the top few results and you want to climb to the top, this strategy alone can be enough. Hack #3 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use SuperURLs When someone clicks on your product listing after finding it using the Amazon search engine, they enter using a SuperURL: It’s a URL containing tracking information that tells the Amazon algorithm that they arrived at your listing through finding it using the search engine. You can give people this URL instead of your usual product URL to trick the algorithm into thinking that people found (and bought your item) through finding it using the search engine. Be aware though, this is a controversial method. Experts like Daniel recommend only pushing through a maximum of 20% of your sales this way. Hack #4 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use paid advertising You can place paid ads in the Amazon search engine for your item, targeting specific keywords. When someone buys a product through clicking on it, not only will this increase your sales velocity - but it’ll help your product rank organically for that keyword as well. Hack #5 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Increase the conversions on your listing & get reviews It’s not enough to get the initial sales & conversions from drastically lowering your price: You need to have a high-converting listing so that when you reach the top of the search results you’ll keep making more sales than your competitor, otherwise the Amazon algorithm will drop you in the results. Here are some tips for increasing your conversions on your listing: * Have the maximum number of HD photos that are big enough the customer can zoom in on them. * Have a keyword rich product title. * Have multiple bullet points with excellent copy. * Have a descriptive product description that has photos included in it. Be sure to email and follow up with your customers, asking them to leave an honest review. If you do this, you can increase the rate of people leaving a review to as high as 10-15% (compared to less than 5%). Hack #6 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use Amazon Marketing Services Amazon Market Services (AMS) is an advertising platform that you need to be specially approved for. When you are approved it lets you advertise on lots of pages on Amazon, such as your competitor’s pages. Because it requires pre-approval, most of your competition won’t be using it. So you can use this to place ads in larger amounts than 99% of your competitors and outsell them.

Getting The Most Out Of Your LCMSMS Separations and Method Development

58:33
Presenter: Rick Lake, Director of Business Development, Restek LC-MS/MS is changing the role of chromatography. Historically, when utilizing LC with traditional detectors, like UV, the chromatographer was looking for complete analyte separation, with the ability to optimize mobile phases as needed. Today, when utilizing LC-MS/MS, we are often looking to chromatography to assist the MS in achieving higher sensitivity, getting greater peak capacity and provided selectivity where needed, like isobaric separations. In addition, the number of amenable mobile phases has been reduced, as they must be volatile. In this presentation, we will first discuss the needs of chromatography for LC-MS/MS, beginning with the fundamental concepts and how we can apply them. We will then discuss options for selecting the best column formats for LC-MS/MS as it relates to the needs of MS. Lastly, we will review a quick approach to developing a separation when using LC-MS/MS. We will focus on a small, versatile set of column chemistries that work well with MS and how we can effectively adjust a small set of MS amenable mobile phases to work with these chemistries. In short, we will define a novel approach to simplifying chromatography for LC-MS/MS and how we can best utilize chromatography to make the LC-MS/MS work better. ---------- Rick has been actively working in the field of chromatography for nearly 20 years. Currently, Rick is the Director of Business Development where he manages the coordination of applications and collaborations that serve multiple industries. Previously, he was Product Line Manager, overseeing the development and application of Restek's LC products. Prior to this, Rick served as our Pharmaceutical Market Development Manager and Pharmaceutical Innovations Chemist, developing GC and LC applications and assisting in new product development. Before coming on board in 2005, he worked for 7 years as a Study Director and Principal Investigator for a contract research lab, where he developed and validated GC and LC methods while also managing the Stability Testing Department. Prior to shifting his focus to pharmaceuticals, he spent 4 years performing pesticide residue and volatile/semivolatile analyses. ---------- The Chicago Chromatography Discussion Group (CCDG) is committed to promoting an interest in -and providing a forum for- the exchange of information in all areas of chromatography. CCDG offers a program of luncheon or dinner meetings which cover advances in the many facets of chromatography. U.S. To Phase Out Federal Private Prisons

05:51
The Justice Department recently announced plans to phase out use of federal private prisons over the next five years. This is good news as it turns out private prisons are a disaster. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/join "The Obama administration said on Thursday that it would begin to phase out the use of private for-profit prisons to house federal inmates. The Bureau of Prisons had resorted to such prisons to ease overcrowding as the incarceration rate soared, but the number of federal inmates has been dropping since 2013. In announcing the policy shift, the Justice Department cited that decline, as well as a critical recent report by the department’s independent inspector general about safety and security problems in private prisons. “Private prisons served an important role during a difficult period, but time has shown that they compare poorly to our own bureau facilities,” Sally Q. Yates, the deputy attorney general, wrote in a memo to the bureau. Such prisons, she said, “do not save substantially on costs,” and they provide fewer rehabilitative services, like educational programs and job training, that are “essential to reducing recidivism and improving public safety.””* Read more here: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/19/us/us-to-phase-out-use-of-private-prisons-for-federal-inmates.html?_r=0 Hosts: Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian Cast: Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian *** The Largest Online News Show in the World. Atomic Layer Deposition Principle - an Introduction to ALD

05:03
ALD - Atomic Layer Deposition is an exciting technique to prepare desired materials one atomic layer at a time. In this video we explain the deposition process with an ALD reactor that uses gas phase precursors (chemicals). These precursors enter the reaction chamber one at a time along with the carrier gas (usually nitrogen in gas phase processes). Each time a precursor enters the chamber, it reacts with the substrate surface in a self limiting manner, forming a thin layer. The excess precursor molecules and reaction byproducts are removed after each step with the help of the carrier gas and a vacuum pump. A thermocouple and computer controlled heaters ensure the desired deposition temperature, which gives control over the deposited films crystal structure. For example by using a correct deposition temperature, amorphous, anatase phase or rutile phase titanium dioxide can easily be obtained. The greatest benefits of ALD is the possibility to apply a thin film with well defined thickness and composition on even sophisticated three-dimensional objects. The applications for atomic layer deposition technique have dramatically increased over the last few decades as it is now used for the preparation of solar cells, ultra thin corrosion resistant coatings, microelectronic devices and even for the enhancement of medical implants.
