Working with dates in Oracle PLSQL.

23:34
Dates in Oracle PL SQL is definitely the most powerful among all other databases. It gives us full flexibility to manipulate it of our choice, whether you are calculating days, months or year, printing date and time in various format. Useful date functions add_months, months_between, last_day, next_day and to_char helps us a lot in handling date time in our pl sql programming.

SQL Date Comparison - How to filter Datetime in SQL Server - SQL Training Online

08:41
http://www.sqltrainingonline.com SQL Date Comparison - How to filter Datetime in SQL Server - SQL Training Online In this video, I show you how to do a SQL Date Comparison in SQL Server when your Datetime has an actual time in it. I also include the latest trick that will make this easier if you are using SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2012. How do you compare a Datetime in SQL Server? A SQL Datetime stores both Date and Time. So when you are filtering using the SQL Where clause, you have to know if you Datetime is storing the time also. Let's take a look at the employee table in SQL Training Online Simple DB The column we are looking at is the hire date. I want to go after the person who was hired on February, 22 2005. So, I use the following SQL. select * from employee where hire_date='02/22/2005' Now, this works because we don't have any times stored in this column. But, if I change the record from 2005-02-22 00:00:00.000 to 2005-02-22 08:22:25.000 and rerun the query, you see that I don't get any results. That is because the value of 02/22/2005 is really 2005-02-22 00:00:00.000 and I just changed the hire_date to include a time other than 00:00:00.000. So, I have to tweak my query to use a greater than and less than sign. This works. But, to really understand what is going on, let me show you what SQL Server really sees. There are other ways, and in this StackOverflow article you can read more about these other ways. But, I want to point out a few. If you are working in SQL Server 2005 or earlier, the following is supposed to be the fastest performing way to do this. select datediff(dd,0, hire_date),* from employee where dateadd(dd,0, datediff(dd,0, hire_date)) = '2005-02-22' But, if you are working in SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2012, they have introduced an actual Date datatype that doesn't include the Time portion. Since this is the case, you can use the CAST function to remove the time from the Datetime. Here is the SQL to do that. select * from employee where CAST(hire_date AS Date) = '2005-02-22' And that's it. If you enjoy the video, please give it a like, comment, or subscribe to my channel. Oracle MONTHS_BETWEEN Function

02:17
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-months_between/ The Oracle MONTHS_BETWEEN function allows you to find the number of months between two dates. You can enter two dates and the function returns the difference. This function is often used as part of other calculations. Sometimes you’ll want to know the difference between two dates to perform other functions. The syntax of the MONTHS_BETWEEN function is: MONTHS_BETWEEN(date1, date2) What do these two parameters mean? The function performs date1 minus date2. So, if date1 is larger, the result is positive. If date2 is larger, then the result is negative. What data type is returned? It depends on the values you provide. If the dates are both on the same day of the month (e.g. both on the 10th of the month), then the result is an integer or whole number. If not, then the result will be a decimal value. For more information on the MONTHS_BETWEEN function, including the code used in this video and examples, read the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-months_between/

Date and Time Functions in SQL SERVER Part II || DATEDIFF , DATEFROMPARTS and DATENAME

04:18
This video will provide you the details of each Date and Time Data Types and Function in SQL Server 2014. Last session for date other date functions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x29rH6nY3s Date and Time Data Types and Functions :-  DATEDIFF (Transact-SQL) / DATEDIFF_BIG Returns the count (signed integer) of the specified datepart boundaries crossed between the specified startdate and enddate.  Syntax DATEDIFF ( datepart , startdate , enddate )  Arguments datepart Is the part of startdate and enddate that specifies the type of boundary crossed. The following table lists all valid datepart arguments. User-defined variable equivalents are not valid. startdate Is an expression that can be resolved to a time, date, smalldatetime, datetime, datetime2, or datetimeoffset value. date can be an expression, column expression, user-defined variable or string literal. startdate is subtracted from enddate. To avoid ambiguity, use four-digit years. For information about two digits years, see Configure the two digit year cutoff Server Configuration Option. enddate See startdate.  Return Type Int  *****************************************************************************  DATEFROMPARTS (Transact-SQL) Returns a date value for the specified year, month, and day.  Syntax DATEFROMPARTS ( year, month, day )  Arguments year Integer expression specifying a year. month Integer expression specifying a month, from 1 to 12. day Integer expression specifying a day.  Return Types Date ******************************************************************************  DATENAME (Transact-SQL) Returns a character string that represents the specified datepart of the specified date For an overview of all Transact-SQL date and time data types and functions,  Syntax DATENAME ( datepart , date )  Arguments datepart Is the part of the date to return. The following table lists all valid datepart arguments. User-defined variable equivalents are not valid. datepart Abbreviations Return values year yy, yyyy 2007 quarter qq, q 4 month mm, m October dayofyear dy, y 303 day dd, d 30 week wk, ww 44 weekday dw, w Tuesday hour hh 12 minute mi, n 15 second ss, s 32 millisecond ms 123 microsecond mcs 123456 nanosecond ns 123456700 TZoffset tz 310 ISO_WEEK ISOWK, ISOWW 44 date Is an expression that can be resolved to a time, date, smalldatetime, datetime, datetime2, or datetimeoffset value. date can be an expression, column expression, user-defined variable, or string literal. To avoid ambiguity, use four-digit years. For information about two-digit years,  Return Type Nvarchar  Return Value • Each datepart and its abbreviations return the same value. The return value depends on the language environment set by using SET LANGUAGE and by the Configure the default language Server Configuration Option of the login. The return value is dependant on SET DATEFORMAT if date is a string literal of some formats. SET DATEFORMAT does not affect the return value when the date is a column expression of a date or time data type. When the date parameter has a date data type argument, the return value depends on the setting specified by using SET DATEFIRST. If the data type of the date argument does not have the specified datepart, the default for that datepart will be returned only when a literal is specified for date. For example, the default year-month-day for any date data type is 1900-01-01. The following statement has date part arguments for datepart, a time argument for date, and returns 1900, January, 1, 1, Monday. SELECT DATENAME(year, '12:10:30.123') ,DATENAME(month, '12:10:30.123') ,DATENAME(day, '12:10:30.123') ,DATENAME(dayofyear, '12:10:30.123') ,DATENAME(weekday, '12:10:30.123');

ADD_MONTHS Function in SQL Query with Example

02:32
ADD_MONTHS(): The Oracle/PLSQL ADD_MONTHS function returns a date plus n months. Syntax: ADD_MONTHS( date1, n ) Arguments: date1 is the starting date (before the n months have been added). n is the number of months to add to date1. Example: Let's look at some Oracle ADD_MONTHS function examples and explore how you would use the ADD_MONTHS function in Oracle/PLSQL. ADD_MONTHS('01-Aug-03', 3) would return '01-Nov-03' ADD_MONTHS('01-Aug-03', -3) would return '01-May-03' ADD_MONTHS('21-Aug-03', -3) would return '21-May-03' ADD_MONTHS('31-Jan-03', 1) would return '28-Feb-03' Thanks for watching..:)

How to Use MySQL Date and Time Functions

02:21
Follow this step by step easy tutorial to learn how to use MySQL date and time functions and see how to modify the time formats. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ There are various functions which can be used for calculating the date and time in MySQL but for the purpose of this tutorial we will use 3 primary functions for date and time each. For this tutorial, we will be using SQL YOG as an instance of MySQL.  Step 1- Current Date Let's start with MySQL date functions. For that write the following query: select curdate(); and press F5 to execute. It will show the current date of the system. Curdate is a short form of current date. Step 2-Changing date format Now if we want to view the date in a specific format, we can use a function called the date_format(). Write "date_format" function in a similar pattern as before, but this time inside the parentheses, we will write the date within single quotation marks and then specify the required format in single quotations after a comma. Here we are using W for week, M for Month and Y for years which are implicit format specified in the MySQL environment, and used with a percentage sign. The actual query would be: select date_format('2013-04-18','%W %M %Y'); Step 3- Viewing Name of the Day In MySQL date functions library, there is a method which can return the day name, when given the date as its perimeter. It is called "dayname" function. To use that, write dayname(), following the "select" keyword, and specify the date within single quotes inside the parenthesis. The query would be: select dayname('1998-04-25'); Step 4- Time Functions Now let's move on to mysql time functions First of all let's find out the current time. For that, we will write curtime(),which stands for the current time, and write the query in the same way as we did for the current date. Hence the query would be: select curtime(); Step 5- Changing time format Now let's see how we can change the format of the output. For that, use the time_format() function, as we did for the date format. Write the following query in the editor: select time_format('14:28:18','%h : %i : %s'); Over here, h, i and s are used for hours, minutes and seconds respectively. Step 6- Changing Time to Seconds In MyQL time functions library, there are various functions related to time. One of them which is widely used by programmers is the time_to_sec() function. This method changes the given time to seconds. To use this, write time_to_sec() and specify the time inside the parentheses within single quotes. In the Query Editor, write: select time_to_sec('14:28:18'); When we execute the query, we can see that the time being displayed is in seconds. Step 7- Date along with Time Lastly, to display the current date and time altogether, we can use now() function along with the select keyword. Write: select now(); in the query editor and execute it. And this was all about MySQL date & time functions.

How to Record and Run Macro to Format Excel File

03:38
http://www.contextures.com/excel-macro-record-test.html Instead of manually repeating the same steps every time you format an Excel file, you can record and run a macro, to automate the steps. In this example, which has fake data from the FakeNameGenerator site, we're hiding worksheet columns, and adjusting the page setup, so the file will print at one page width. Finally, we'll add a button to the Quick Access Toolbar, so the macro is easy to run. See the steps in this short Excel tutorial.
