From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

Here's how a simple mark ends up meaning something big as a great logo. Joe Posner, and Michael Bierut (designer of the Hillary Clinton logo) explain. The biggest one in recent memory was the highly controversial Hillary Clinton logo, which did not escape scrutiny from Vox.com either. But as a designer/filmmaker, something about these repeated discussions struck me as missing the point on what makes logos tick. It often has little to do with the subjective musings. So I called up Michael Bierut, the designer of that Hillary Clinton logo and countless others. He sat down with me and helped explain the elements of a great logo in the video above. Karl Lagerfeld - the name stands for much more than just fashion. What makes the fashion icon so successful? Who’s the man behind the sunglasses? Designer, artist, fashion icon, also known as "Kaiser Karl." No living fashion designer, let alone a German one, is as celebrated as Karl Lagerfeld. On September 10, the man with the trademark ponytail and sunglasses will celebrate his 85th birthday - it’s believed. From dawn to late morning, Karl Lagerfeld designs for Chanel, Fendi and his own signature brand - a combined workload of up to 15 collections a year. A workhorse who never takes breaks or even a vacation, he is also a photographer and filmmaker. His passion for fashion was awakened by a Dior show in Hamburg in 1950. Four years later, at the age of 17, Karl Lagerfeld was hired as an assistant to Pierre Balmain. Karl Lagerfeld recounts his beginnings in the industry, as well as his upper class background and childhood in Schleswig-Holstein. Karl Lagerfeld was greatly influenced by his mother, whom he describes as his personal style icon. Karl Lagerfeld's caustic comments are notorious and dreaded by those at the receiving end. As an artist, Karl Lagerfeld works in several media, from pictures and photographs to book illustrations and videos. The documentary follows Karl Lagerfeld to exhibition openings, during the hectic preparations for his fashion shows, and at photo shoots in Paris as it seeks to uncover the man behind the mask. _______ DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. We live in times of unprecedented, disruptive change and uncertainty and most people find it challenging to thrive in those circumstances. If ‘design thinking’ is the new black, then thinking like a fashion design may just be the next big thing! This talk takes the idea of design thinking and translates it into a series of very practical tips that you can employ yourself, every day to help you think more optimistically in times of uncertainty and ambiguity. Professor Suzi Vaughan has settled (for now) in Brisbane, Australia having studied, lived and worked in Europe and Asia. After graduating from St Martins School of Art in London with a Ba Hons in Fashion, she started her professional career as a fashion designer, later moving into fashion education. Since 2011 she has been part of the executive team of a large Australian university. With over thirty years’ experience of design practice and teaching, she has become an advocate for the power and potential of design thinking. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Watch more Fashion Designers and Fashion Brands videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500164-Chanel-Fashion-Designers Counterfeiting is any indication than Chanel is one of the most coveted brands in the world. While fake Chanel hats and scarves and bags are really easy to find. Real Chanel only comes from the House of Chanel that was founded by Coco Chanel around 1915. The company produces couture ready to wear for women, renowned accessories, cosmetics, fragrances and jewelry. The cosmetics business is especially successful and they're seen as really innovated in skin care, but also as great colorists. Chanel No. 5 was introduced in 1921 and remains one of the bestselling fragrances in history and it's now a part of a line that has over 20 fragrances for men and women. Since its founding in 1915 the company has expanded immensely, but, it still represents principles established by Coco herself.

How to design a successful logo? How to build a famous brand for your business? Some of the most well-known logos in the world were purposefully designed to indicate something much more than simple beauty. In fact, it seems that in some cases, every line, curve, and color has meaning behind it. Adidas, Apple, BMW, Coca-Cola, Toyota… We see these famous brands everywhere but never consider what their logos exactly mean. Curious to know the secret? Watch the 16 famous logos with a hidden meaning you've never noticed. #logomeaning #logosecret # Hyundai 0:33 The letter ’Н’ symbolizes two people – a client and a representative of the company – shaking hands. Adidas 0:52 The current logo is three stripes at an angle which together form a triangle. This symbolizes a mountain, which in turn represents the challenges that all sportsmen have to overcome day after day. Apple 1:21 Rob Janoff, the designer who came up with the world-famous Apple company logo, explained his idea in one of his interviews. He bought a bag of apples, placed them in a bowl, and spent time drawing them for a week, trying to break the image down into something simple. Vaio 1:58 The first two letters of the Vaio logo symbolize an analogue wave. The last two are similar to the numbers 1 and 0 — that is, symbols of a digital signal. Amazon 2:14 The orange arrow is similar to a smile because the company wants its customers to be satisfied. The arrow is also stretched between the letters ’A’ and ’Z’, in a hint that the company sells absolutely every product you can imagine. Baskin Robbins 2:40 The pink-colored parts of the "BR" section make up the number 31, which is how many ice cream flavors Baskin Robbins used to famously sell. Toyota 2:56 The logo represents a stylized image of a needle eye with a thread passing through it. This is a hint at the company’s past – they used to produce weaving machines. Continental 3:28 Continental, a famous car tire producer, has a logo in which the first two letters depict a car wheel. Formula 1 3:41 If you look carefully at the white space between the letter ’F’ and the red stripes, you can see the number 1. Pinterest 3:59 On Pinterest, people collect images they like from across the Internet and ’pin’ them to their online boards. That’s why the image of a pin is hidden in the letter P. Beats 4:17 Beats, an audio equipment producer based in the USA, uses a logo in which the letter ’B’ looks like headphones on a person’s head. Toblerone 4:32 The famous chocolate company based in Bern, Switzerland, has a silhouette of a bear in its logo. That's because Bern is sometimes called a city of bears. BMW 4:55 The logo is simply a part of the Bavarian flag, the area of Germany where the company originated. LG 5:18 The logo is a stylized image of a person’s face. According to the company, this represents its aspiration to have human relations with their customers. Evernote 5:34 The corner of the elephant’s ear is folded over in a similar way how people fold the corner of a page to make notes. Coca-Cola 5:57 In the space between the letters ’O’ and ’L’, you can see the Danish flag. It’s purely a coincidence. Nevertheless, Coca-Cola has used this as part of its marketing campaigns in the Scandinavian country. If you’ve enjoyed this video, hit that thumbs up button! Alex Riley thinks he's immune to brands. When it comes to fashion, technology and food brands he just goes for the cheapest and what works for him. He's convinced he's not seduced by the advertising, celebrity endorsements and hype which surrounds the big global brands. So how did that pair of Adidas trainers get in his wardrobe? And how did that can of Heinz Baked Beans make it into his shopping trolley? And why does he have a Nokia mobile phone in his pocket rather than any other make? With the help of marketeers, brain scientists and exclusive access to the world of the superbrands Alex sets out to find out why we buy them, trust them, even idolise them. One of the most frequently asked questions I get is what I think about the extremely successful "fashion watch" brands like MVMT, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors, Daniel Wellington, The Fifth, Viscero, Armani etc. Well, the answers is a little complicated because there are (of course) some things I dislike about them, but there also I feel some positive things that traditional watch brands can learn from these brands too. In this video I also share my opinion on 6 brands that offer much cooler, stylish, better made and truly iconic watches costing from as less a $50 to $500. Subscribe: https://goo.gl/Hnoaw3 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our favorite celebrities always look stunning on the red carpet, but that doesn’t mean that we can trust their endorsements when it comes to makeup. Kim Kardashian’s KKW concealer and contour kits have come under fire because fans claim that they simply aren’t inclusive enough, and skew far too light. Kylie Jenner’s lip kits are a hit, but many people feel that the names of her blushes are needlessly risque, especially considering her many young fans. Kat Von D is a tattoo artist turned makeup maven who also has her share of controversy behind the scenes of her cosmetics. Sia is a vegan singer who recently endorsed MAC cosmetics. The only problem with that is that it’s well-known that MAC tests their products on animals and they’re not cruelty-free. It seems like Rihanna’s Fenty beauty collection is so fabulous that nobody can fault it. Although competing brand, Make Up For Ever did try to throw some shade on social media, Rihanna responded with an epic clap back. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheTalko Twitter: https://twitter.com/thetalko Instagram: https://instagram.com/the_talko ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.thetalko.com/

At the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, we hosted one-hundred and sixty people, all with a focus on creating and distributing great brand stories. Brands like Mondelez, Dr. Pepper, Hyundia, Pepsi, HBO, Dick’s Sporting Goods (have you seen the stories they are telling?), Netflix, and Marriott. Along with agency partners, filmmakers, and media companies, all people redefining the roles of media and marketing. We seized the opportunity to talk to a couple dozen of these brand storytellers, and their agents, and the result was over 13 hours of video content. Brands, agencies, influencers, filmmakers, all sharing their views on the future of branded content and advertising. It’s a whole lot of GREAT stuff that anyone in advertising and media will want to watch. Today, we are publishing the first of five episodes. The duration of each of these “shows” is about 30 minutes. Not exactly “snackable.” These are shows that are intended for marketing teams, agencies, and media partners to watch together and (hopefully) discuss and apply to their own situation and storytelling strategy. As interruptive advertising is increasingly turned off, brands are turning on to creating content with intrinsic value. There is a big story unfolding in the world of media, marketing and advertising. Many feel it is the beginning of a new era that will be enabled by technology but led by creativity. It’s an exciting time and we are happy to be playing our role in this unfolding story. I hope you will watch and let us know how you valued the show.

But the industry is changing – and Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty isn’t the only brand laying the foundation for a more inclusive beauty industry. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Rihanna’s new makeup line Fenty Beauty has been an instant success — and it’s not only popular because Rihanna’s name is attached to it. Fenty Beauty carries a wide range of foundations — 40 to be exact — which has the beauty industry shook. Cosmetics and the beauty industry as a whole, has a long history of creating products that did not match deeper-toned people of color. There are a number of factors that have lead many mainstream beauty companies to having a narrow selection for people of color — and not all of those reasons are rooted in product development. With Fenty Beauty, Rihanna is showing the industry that it’s worth investing money and time into creating nuanced products beyond the ranges of ivory, beige, and tan. Tartan jacket on his shoulders, sharp haircut on his head, Reece Wabara’s journey to becoming one of fashion’s most successful newcomers hasn’t been conventional. At 26, he’s the proud owner and CEO of Manière De Voir, a specialist in designer unisex clothing, though Wabara spent much of his early years playing professional football, eventually going it alone in the fashion world against all advice. Having started his footballing career at Walsall, he later secured a dream move to Manchester City and struggled to break into the first team. After a number of loan spells at Wigan, Bolton, Ipswich, Blackpool, and Oldham, Wabara realised that football wouldn’t last forever. Knowing his short career earnings had to last a lifetime, he was forced to act. “How do you make that stretch?” he asks. “It’s about smart moves.” Thinking long term, Wabara drew up plans for his fashion label. It takes courage to leave the security of a high paid footballing career in your mid-twenties and throw it all into an entirely new venture, and he certainly had his doubters at first. Friends, family, ex-colleagues, many of them thought that his brand wouldn’t last long—that it was a short lived hobby. “After a year, people started taking me really seriously,” he recalls. Yet, for Wabara, it was all about focus. Taking a hands-on approach at his brand, he was involved with the day-to-day running of the operation as much as the marketing and the design. His dedication and high standards drove the company, and after a few years at the helm, Manière De Voir now stands toe-to-toe with the very biggest fashion labels worldwide. The secret to Wabara’s success is his mindset, which he learned through football. Being in and out of the team gave him the tools to handle big business decisions and deal with the consequences, and he learned to thrive off that pressure and remain disciplined. “Now, in life, I seek adversity, I expect problems in business, in growth,” he says. “You have to be relentless.” For more exclusive interviews: Go to www.MyComeUp.Com Music Credit: @ySo_6FM https://m.soundcloud.com/yso_6fm Watch Full Interview on http://MYCOMEUP.COM Subscribe to MYCOMEUP►http://bit.do/SubscribeMCU FIND US ONLINE Web: http://bit.do/MyComeUp Instagram: http://bit.do/InstagramMCU Twitter: http://bit.do/TwitterMCU ABOUT MYCOMEUP MCU World is a networking platform where people connect and collaborate to build their brand to achieve success. How the worlds best brands become our favorite through successful branding. Part of a larger article at http://www.chrisgrow.com The worlds most successful brands know how to create a brand and how to build a brand. Their success isn't on accident. These companies brand themselves though imitating good branding practices that have been in place for thousands of years. Some brands do this on purpose, and others unknowingly. The commonalities between successful branding practiced across many different brands in different industries are: Storytelling, evangelism, ritual, grandeur, a clear vision, symbols, power over enemies, belonging, mystery and sensory appeal. The better your brand can understand how each of these things gives your fans a chance to connect with you, the easier you can sell around each of them and empower your brand evangelists to sell for you. Brands like Nike, Apple, the New York Yankees and Big House Wine all understand these successful branding techniques, and you can apply them to your brand for success as well, no matter how large or small your brand is. The most simple way to describe successful branding is this: Your brand is the collection of things that people associate with you. But a deeper understanding of How brands are created and built is very successful when taking your brand to the next level. How to create a brand. How to build a brand.
