From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

He's convinced he's not seduced by the advertising, celebrity endorsements and hype which surrounds the big global brands. So how did that pair of Adidas trainers get in his wardrobe? Tartan jacket on his shoulders, sharp haircut on his head, Reece Wabara’s journey to becoming one of fashion’s most successful newcomers hasn’t been conventional. At 26, he’s the proud owner and CEO of Manière De Voir, a specialist in designer unisex clothing, though Wabara spent much of his early years playing professional football, eventually going it alone in the fashion world against all advice. Having started his footballing career at Walsall, he later secured a dream move to Manchester City and struggled to break into the first team. After a number of loan spells at Wigan, Bolton, Ipswich, Blackpool, and Oldham, Wabara realised that football wouldn’t last forever. Knowing his short career earnings had to last a lifetime, he was forced to act. “How do you make that stretch?” he asks. “It’s about smart moves.” Thinking long term, Wabara drew up plans for his fashion label. It takes courage to leave the security of a high paid footballing career in your mid-twenties and throw it all into an entirely new venture, and he certainly had his doubters at first. Friends, family, ex-colleagues, many of them thought that his brand wouldn’t last long—that it was a short lived hobby. “After a year, people started taking me really seriously,” he recalls. Yet, for Wabara, it was all about focus. Taking a hands-on approach at his brand, he was involved with the day-to-day running of the operation as much as the marketing and the design. His dedication and high standards drove the company, and after a few years at the helm, Manière De Voir now stands toe-to-toe with the very biggest fashion labels worldwide. The secret to Wabara’s success is his mindset, which he learned through football. Being in and out of the team gave him the tools to handle big business decisions and deal with the consequences, and he learned to thrive off that pressure and remain disciplined. “Now, in life, I seek adversity, I expect problems in business, in growth,” he says. “You have to be relentless.” For more exclusive interviews: Go to www.MyComeUp.Com Music Credit: @ySo_6FM https://m.soundcloud.com/yso_6fm Watch Full Interview on http://MYCOMEUP.COM Subscribe to MYCOMEUP►http://bit.do/SubscribeMCU FIND US ONLINE Web: http://bit.do/MyComeUp Instagram: http://bit.do/InstagramMCU Twitter: http://bit.do/TwitterMCU ABOUT MYCOMEUP MCU World is a networking platform where people connect and collaborate to build their brand to achieve success. Kim Kardashian’s KKW concealer and contour kits have come under fire because fans claim that they simply aren’t inclusive enough, and skew far too light. Kylie Jenner’s lip kits are a hit, but many people feel that the names of her blushes are needlessly risque, especially considering her many young fans. Kat Von D is a tattoo artist turned makeup maven who also has her share of controversy behind the scenes of her cosmetics. Sia is a vegan singer who recently endorsed MAC cosmetics. The only problem with that is that it’s well-known that MAC tests their products on animals and they’re not cruelty-free. http://www.evancarmichael.com/support/ - SUPPORT ME :) Like this video? Please give it a thumbs up below and/or leave a comment - Thank you!!! My name is Evan Carmichael and I believe that the fastest and most effective way to build a business is to model the strategies of people who have already done what you're trying to do. I call it Modeling the Masters. My last post with almost 8,000 views was 3 Success Lessons from the Twitter Founders. Today we're going to take a closer look at how a young man from a war-torn country grew from poverty to becoming one of the top fashion designers in the world. This is the story of preeminent fashion designer Giorgio Armani and the top 3 lessons that you can learn from his success. "Remain true to yourself and your philosophy. Changing in the face of adversity will in fact diminish your credibility with your customers." - Giorgio Armani Giorgio Armani (born July 11, 1934) grew up in the small northern Italian town of Piacenza. Armani grew up in a family of five that was hard working, but never had too much money to go around. His childhood was not an easy one. The realities of the Second World War in which Italy was caught at the time, were all too apparent to the young Armani. After losing two young friends to a war bomb, Armani and his sister also became the target of machine gun fire from an overhead plane. However, Armani and his family survived the War and relocated to Milan. It was a city decidedly marked by class division, and one in which Armani's parents struggled to rebuild their lives. They found it hard to find their footing in this much bigger and tougher city than their little town of Piacenza. And so, he enrolled in the medical school at the University of Bologna, where he studied for two years to become a doctor. However, when he discovered that the sight of blood made him weak, Armani knew that line of work was not for him. In 1953, Armani was called to fulfill his military obligations, which he accepted eagerly as a chance to clear his head and gain new direction in his life. For all of his experience, Armani was assigned to the infirmary. However, he quickly grew bored with his prospects and realized that war life was not the romantic notion he had seen in the movies. He took a short break from the service and took a trip to Milan that would forever change his life. That was where he met a friend of his who happened to work at La Rinascente, Milan's largest department store, and who would give him his first break into the fashion industry. After the meeting, Armani said he had become a believer in destiny. That destiny has made him known for his classically tailored, sleek power suits and clean, high quality fabrics that everyone from the who's who of Hollywood to the bankers on Wall Street have fallen in love with. Now, Giorgio Armani S.p.A. has over $1.5 billion in revenue and a retail empire that extends to more than 35 countries. Action Item #1: Stick to Your Vision Action Item #2: Stretch Your Brand Action Item #3: Follow Your Conscience True Story Armani has designed clothing for some of the most influential people on the planet, but, according to Armani himself, some of his proudest designs were for Princess Charlene of Monaco. He has been clothing her since she first wore one of his pieces in 2008 at the Olympic Games in Beijing. He spoke to Vogue magazine about designing her wedding gown and believes Princess Charlene "knows how to wear my creations with nonchalance and confidence of youth." Getting to the point where royalty requests a specific designers clothing is considered the pinnacle of a designer's career, but Armani continues to challenge the market and re-invent his designs, which was shown in his design for Princess Charlene's wedding dress. According to Armani, "I felt the new design was appropriate given that there would inevitably be comparisons with Princess Grace, and though such comparisons are of course a sign of admiration, each person has their own individual and unique style, and style is an expression of the times." He goes on to say it was one of greatest creations. Quotes "In this business you can't have a destination, an arrival point. Otherwise your competitors will overtake you, or you become complacent." "The long and short of it for me is that the entrepreneur is the one who at the end decides yes or no and I like that even though it's a lot of responsibility." "I supposed it would have been great to invent something as classic and enduring as the tuxedo. But if I was collecting royalties, I wish I'd invented the corkscrew." What Do You Think? Do you keep your vision sharpened? Do you continually stretch your brand and expand your reach? Are you following your conscience? Tell me what you think by leaving a message below.

In this episode, Brad sits down to speak with a successful BrandBuildr from across the pond in the USA. Meet Blake Ricciardi, CEO & Founder of Lifestyle Streetwear Brand Popular Demand. What started out as a a brand selling T-shirts, Popular Demand has grew into a successful lifestyle brand that represents the culture of those that understand streetwear fashion. Blake and his team have teamed up with many influential and recognisable faces of today's culture in street. All you have to do is check their social pages on Insta to be welcomed to collabs with Cardi B, Dave East, Sage the Gemini, Ty Dolla Sign, Rae Sremmurd, and many more. In this interview, we wanted to understand from Blake after having some skin in the game and seeing a lot of changes in how we market our brands today back to when he started, what he has noticed to be the key denominators for building a successful streetwear brand over the years. With so many new clothing startups popping up daily, we wanted to identify what separates the good from the bad. Blake confirmed there are deeper roots to streetwear that all have to be accounted for and that many think it's one of the easier brands to start, whereas he thinks it is one of the hardest - mainly due to saturation and noise in the industry. A great conversion and lots of pointers involved in helping you clarify if you are ticking all the boxes whilst also hearing about the story to how Blake got into this space in the first place, starting out with nothing but a bit of ambition and a few dollars left in his bank account. Nothing better than a true bred entrepreneurial story. Can you relate? Comment below with your thoughts on the episode! We'd love to hear what value you have taken from this discussion and if you have any questions. ------ If you are looking to start or grow a brand of your own, at BrandBuildr we have now helped 500+ people either start an idea they've been passionate about, or grow a struggling brand that needed help from those that have been there, done it and are still doing it! We live in times of unprecedented, disruptive change and uncertainty and most people find it challenging to thrive in those circumstances. If ‘design thinking’ is the new black, then thinking like a fashion design may just be the next big thing! This talk takes the idea of design thinking and translates it into a series of very practical tips that you can employ yourself, every day to help you think more optimistically in times of uncertainty and ambiguity. Professor Suzi Vaughan has settled (for now) in Brisbane, Australia having studied, lived and worked in Europe and Asia. After graduating from St Martins School of Art in London with a Ba Hons in Fashion, she started her professional career as a fashion designer, later moving into fashion education. Since 2011 she has been part of the executive team of a large Australian university. With over thirty years’ experience of design practice and teaching, she has become an advocate for the power and potential of design thinking. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

After her daughter was born in 2010, new mom Royer looked everywhere for a cohesive collection of quality, organic baby clothes married with exceptional customer service. From the Layette experience that anticipates the needs of expectant parents, to the innovative product design and in-store classes that foster community among new parents, Royer has woven a thread of thoughtfulness throughout her brand. Royer’s passion for fashion started at an early age with her mother making most of her clothes, and her love of dresses. Fashion is a big part of many people’s lives, but like with everything, everything changes with time. The average millennial may not typically look to physical runways, rather, they look at social media platforms such as Instagram and YouTube. The brand Fashion Nova has picked up on this and centralized their brand around these and other social media platforms. Having only a few stores in southern california, their strategic social media approach is key to their success. This brand, in a way, enlists the most influential and active users on social media to flaunt their products to millions of their followers which ultimately expands the brand on a global level.

How to design a successful logo? How to build a famous brand for your business? Some of the most well-known logos in the world were purposefully designed to indicate something much more than simple beauty. In fact, it seems that in some cases, every line, curve, and color has meaning behind it. Adidas, Apple, BMW, Coca-Cola, Toyota… We see these famous brands everywhere but never consider what their logos exactly mean. Curious to know the secret? Watch the 16 famous logos with a hidden meaning you've never noticed. #logomeaning #logosecret # Hyundai 0:33 The letter ’Н’ symbolizes two people – a client and a representative of the company – shaking hands. Adidas 0:52 The current logo is three stripes at an angle which together form a triangle. This symbolizes a mountain, which in turn represents the challenges that all sportsmen have to overcome day after day. Apple 1:21 Rob Janoff, the designer who came up with the world-famous Apple company logo, explained his idea in one of his interviews. He bought a bag of apples, placed them in a bowl, and spent time drawing them for a week, trying to break the image down into something simple. Vaio 1:58 The first two letters of the Vaio logo symbolize an analogue wave. The last two are similar to the numbers 1 and 0 — that is, symbols of a digital signal. Amazon 2:14 The orange arrow is similar to a smile because the company wants its customers to be satisfied. The arrow is also stretched between the letters ’A’ and ’Z’, in a hint that the company sells absolutely every product you can imagine. Baskin Robbins 2:40 The pink-colored parts of the "BR" section make up the number 31, which is how many ice cream flavors Baskin Robbins used to famously sell. Toyota 2:56 The logo represents a stylized image of a needle eye with a thread passing through it. This is a hint at the company’s past – they used to produce weaving machines. Continental 3:28 Continental, a famous car tire producer, has a logo in which the first two letters depict a car wheel. Formula 1 3:41 If you look carefully at the white space between the letter ’F’ and the red stripes, you can see the number 1. Pinterest 3:59 On Pinterest, people collect images they like from across the Internet and ’pin’ them to their online boards. That’s why the image of a pin is hidden in the letter P. Beats 4:17 Beats, an audio equipment producer based in the USA, uses a logo in which the letter ’B’ looks like headphones on a person’s head. Toblerone 4:32 The famous chocolate company based in Bern, Switzerland, has a silhouette of a bear in its logo. That's because Bern is sometimes called a city of bears. BMW 4:55 The logo is simply a part of the Bavarian flag, the area of Germany where the company originated. LG 5:18 The logo is a stylized image of a person’s face. According to the company, this represents its aspiration to have human relations with their customers. Evernote 5:34 The corner of the elephant’s ear is folded over in a similar way how people fold the corner of a page to make notes. Coca-Cola 5:57 In the space between the letters ’O’ and ’L’, you can see the Danish flag. It’s purely a coincidence. Nevertheless, Coca-Cola has used this as part of its marketing campaigns in the Scandinavian country. If you’ve enjoyed this video, hit that thumbs up button! But the industry is changing – and Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty isn’t the only brand laying the foundation for a more inclusive beauty industry. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Rihanna’s new makeup line Fenty Beauty has been an instant success — and it’s not only popular because Rihanna’s name is attached to it. Fenty Beauty carries a wide range of foundations — 40 to be exact — which has the beauty industry shook. Cosmetics and the beauty industry as a whole, has a long history of creating products that did not match deeper-toned people of color. There are a number of factors that have lead many mainstream beauty companies to having a narrow selection for people of color — and not all of those reasons are rooted in product development. Fashion designers worry all the time about how to protect their ideas. Unfortunately? Our industry doesn’t get much protection or have much control when it comes to knockoffs. Grassroots brand Solstice Intimates has had their lingerie and loungewear ripped off before, both by independent designers and large trendy stores. But the most recent incident with AliExpress took things to a whole new level. Not only did AliExpress knockoff their ruffle short design. The seller stole images from the Solstice website to use for the AliExpress listing. The only change they made was the color: Fashion designers worry all the time about how to protect their ideas. just a few ways people have described Daymond John. Over the last 20 years, Daymond John aka "The Shark" has evolved from one of the most successful fashion icons of his generation to a highly sought after branding expert, author, consultant, and as a speaker in business and motivational genres. Daymond's creative vision and strong knowledge of the marketplace created one of the most iconic fashion brands in recent years. FUBU, which means "For Us By Us", represented a lifestyle that was neglected by other clothing companies. With the brand transcending into the mainstream markets, at its peak FUBU recorded annual sales of $350 million, placing it in the same stratosphere as designer labels such as Donna Karan New York and Tommy Hilfiger. In 2005 Daymond released his first book, Display of Power: How FUBU Changed a World of Fashion, Branding, and Lifestyle. His second book is titled The Brand Within: How We Brand Ourselves, From Birth to the Boardroom. In 2009, John joined the cast of the ABC entrepreneurial business show, Shark Tank, produced by acclaimed TV producer Mark Burnett. As one of the "Sharks", Daymond and four other prominent executives listen to business pitches from everyday people hoping to launch their company or product to new heights. Eventually, John formed Shark Branding to provide companies with the marketing insights that have made his companies successful over the years. The firm consults companies on innovative strategies to connect with their consumers more effectively by associating with the world's most influential celebrities, musicians, and personalities. How the worlds best brands become our favorite through successful branding. Part of a larger article at http://www.chrisgrow.com The worlds most successful brands know how to create a brand and how to build a brand. Their success isn't on accident. These companies brand themselves though imitating good branding practices that have been in place for thousands of years. Some brands do this on purpose, and others unknowingly. The commonalities between successful branding practiced across many different brands in different industries are: Storytelling, evangelism, ritual, grandeur, a clear vision, symbols, power over enemies, belonging, mystery and sensory appeal. The better your brand can understand how each of these things gives your fans a chance to connect with you, the easier you can sell around each of them and empower your brand evangelists to sell for you. Brands like Nike, Apple, the New York Yankees and Big House Wine all understand these successful branding techniques, and you can apply them to your brand for success as well, no matter how large or small your brand is. The most simple way to describe successful branding is this: Your brand is the collection of things that people associate with you. But a deeper understanding of How brands are created and built is very successful when taking your brand to the next level. How to create a brand. How to build a brand.
