www.IndustrialPackaging.com We have all been to the Wal-Marts, Sam's Clubs, and Targets of the world, and as we walk down the wide aisles, there are 360-degree, walk-around displays, showcasing different products. They have facings and graphics on all four sides that and can be shopped from all four sides. These are point-of-purchase displays. As you are walking through the aisles, notice that I have now made you aware of something you probably have never thought about, despite the fact that you have grabbed something off of it at one point or another. Now that you know what they are, you will notice them every time you shop! As you look at each of the aisles, at the end of them is usually an end-cap display showcasing a product or several similar products by the same brand. These are also point-of-purchase displays. A point-of-purchase display is anything that will showcase a product that is not in its normal placement within the store, and is made of some sort of corrugated or metal material. So what is POS? Our POS expert explains that POS stands for point of sale. Source: https://www.harbortouchpossoftware.com/what-is-pos/ In our video tutorial we are going to show you that a point-of-sale (POS) transaction is what takes place between a merchant and a customer when a product is sold. What is a POS Terminal? A POS terminal is synonymous with POS system. A POS terminal is the electronic equipment performing the sales transaction and processing the credit card payments. So what are the most common POS systems out there? 1. Restaurant POS Systems - The primary reason you need a POS for a restaurant is to accept payments and to streamline operations. In addition to receiving payments, you need to be able to track all your sales and tax data. There can be hundreds of POS features that can streamline your operations and make your restaurant more efficient. 2. Bar POS Systems - There is software designed specifically for bars, most POS systems used by restaurants can also be used for a bar. Particularly for busy bars, your system needs to have speed functions for quick order input and quick check out. The quicker you’re able to process a transaction the happier your customers will be. 3. Retail POS Systems - Retail point of purchase (POP) systems are typically programmed specifically for retail environments. So that means you would most likely never use a restaurant POS terminal for a retail shop and vice versa. Retail businesses can have some particular requirements and features that other programs will not have. 4. Small Business POS Systems - A small business point of sale system could come in many shapes, sizes, and flavors. Most of the new small business technology is app based and on mobile platforms. A small biz POS might be used for environments like a small retail shop, small restaurant, yogurt shop, or cafe. 5. Salon and Spa POS Systems - Nail salons, hair salons and spas all require a particular set of POS options due to the nature of the business. So not just any POS software system will do. Options like an online appointment calendar, appointment reminders, and retail functionality are required features. In Summary - We covered some of the major types of point of sale software and hardware systems. We sincerely hope this information was helpful and useful in your quest to understand the meaning of POS. If you enjoyed this video, we’d be grateful if you could please share this with others below. Thank You for Watching! #whatispos #pos #pointofsale #possystem #restaurant #possoftware

Think of anything labelled “off the shelf” and you think of readiness, speed and a one-size-fits-all product. Ideal if you’re in the market for a new winter coat. But not so good if you’re a retailer wanting to create an environment that grabs your customers’ attention and stimulates sales. Great point of sale and retail displays do just that. But making sure they’re effective, visually exciting and on brand, needs a tailored approach. These are the 5 critical things we consider when creating a custom experience for shoppers or guests; 1. Your customers Customers. Obviously. Also available in range of shapes and sizes, your customers will dictate the experience they expect from you and your brand. A dimly lit (and effortlessly cool) teen-fashion store won’t cut the mustard with a department store’s 40-something customer. Understanding what makes them comfortable and relaxed, and how they choose to browse, is a key driver. 2. The customer journey How is the visitor to your space going to move through it? Is his journey pre-defined? Does he need to be guided or steered? From the first signage and window display to the final pay point we’re looking to maximise every promotional opportunity. 3. Sensory cues Looking good! That’s a must. But other sensory cues, such as encouraging customers to touch the merchandise, try it, smell it, hear or even taste it (depending what it is of course!) all have a bearing on the positioning, structure and substrates to be used. 4. Durability For short-lived promotions a disposable display is not only acceptable, it might be positively necessary. But where it’s “used in anger” and has to endure over time then that will impact on the materials and the production processes. 5. Last, but never least, budget Working to a budget doesn’t have to mean a big, fat compromise. Getting the very best value from it comes from consultancy, design, prototyping and full-on production from one source that really knows their stuff. We think of our custom displays as affordable made-to-measure. If you think you like the cut of our jib and want to talk to experts that are happy to listen, pick up the phone or drop us an email.

What is POINT OF SALE DISPLAY? What does POINT OF SALE DISPLAY mean? POINT OF SALE DISPLAY meaning - POINT OF SALE DISPLAY definition - POINT OF SALE DISPLAY explanation. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A point-of-sale display (POS display) is a specialized form of sales promotion that is found near, on, or next to a checkout counter (the "point of sale"). They are intended to draw the customers' attention to products, which may be new products, or on special offer, and are also used to promote special events, e.g. seasonal or holiday-time sales. POS displays can include shelf edging, dummy packs, display packs, endcaps, display stands, mobiles, posters, and banners. POS can also refer to systems used to record transactions between the customer and the commerce. Usually, in smaller retail outlets, POS displays are supplied by the manufacturer of the products, and also sited, restocked and maintained by one of their regular salespersons. However, this is less common in large supermarkets as they can control the activities of their suppliers due to their large purchasing power, and prefer to use their own material designed to be consistent with their corporate theming and store layout. Common items that may appear in POS displays year-round are batteries, soft drinks, candy, chewing gum, magazines, comics, tobacco, and writable CDs and DVDs. These displays are also useful in outlets with limited floor space, as there tends to be much wasted space around counters. The displays are normally covered with branding for the product they are trying to sell, and are made out of cardboard or foamboard, and/or a covering over a plastic or Perspex/Plexiglass stand, all intended to be easily replaceable and disposable. This allows designers to make full use of color and printing to make the display visually appealing. Some displays are fixed or non-disposable; these may include lighting to make the display more visible and may also contain a cooler, e.g. for drinks or ice cream. Some are no more than a metal basket, with no design on the outside, simply showing a price; these types of display are easier to refill. In the field of POS displays, a "lightbox" is a display fixture (or a modular component of a larger POS display structure) that contains a translucent graphic film with lamps that transmit light through the graphic, thus "backlighting" the graphic message for increased visibility, brightness and contrast relative to its surroundings. By definition, the artwork or backlit graphic film (aka "duratrans") in a POS lightbox is replaceable without discarding the lightbox or any of its other components. Lightboxes have historically been lighted with fluorescent lamps due to their (a) cooler operating temperature than incandescent; (b) relatively efficient power consumption; and (c) inherent diffusive property. However, as in most commercial lighting applications, there has been a significant industry-wide shift in the late 20th and early 21st century toward LED lamps in POS lightboxes, for not just the universally-acknowledged benefit of economy but also of practicality, as LED lamps are more durable and impact-resistant in shipping, handling and public applications such as Point-of-Sale. Note: the definition of "lightbox" as it relates to POS displays is similar to but distinct from that of a lightbox in the Photography and Graphic Arts industries. The similarity is that they both contain lamps whose light is diffused to uniformly backlight a translucent image; the distinction is that a POS lightbox is a permanent or semi-permanent fixture used to display an advertising message in a retail space, while a photography lightbox is usually a portable or table-mounted appliance used for image quality analysis and/or tracing in a photography studio, graphic design studio, graphic/print production shop or similar environment.
