JavaScript Tutorial For Beginners #41 - Window onLoad Event

05:07
So in this JavaScript tutorial for beginners, I want to show you another kind of JavaScript event - the Window.onload event! The Window object in JavaScript represents the browser window of your web page, and the onload event is the completion of your web page loading. Many times it's useful to only start our JavaScript functions AFTER the window has fully loaded, so we can use this event to make sure that happens. Any questions, fire away :). Custom Alert Box Programming JavaScript CSS HTML Tutorial

12:04
Lesson Code: http://www.developphp.com/video/JavaScript/Custom-Alert-Box-Programming-Tutorial JavaScript comes equipped with stock dialog boxes that work well enough for alerting, confirming, and prompting for values. But most of the top interactive websites create their own custom dialog windows. Creating these windows yourself gives you more control over the interaction with the user, and allows you to customize every single aspect of the dialog window. In this first video lesson we will cover creating a dynamic custom alert box dialog from scratch. In the two following videos we will cover confirm and prompt boxes.

Create your own Page Pre-Loader (HTML, CSS & JS) (No-jQuery Needed)

09:50
Page Loaders like this are a common trend nowadays on websites, especially commercial ones. In this video we look at how to make a custom one from scratch - it's actually quite simple which you'll see as I guide you through it. It's as simple as creating a wrapper, setting an animation and then triggering the animation with Javascript once the page finishes loading. The best part? It's pure HTML, CSS & Javascript. No jQuery or external libraries are required to achieve this effect. Follow me on Twitter @dcode! We plan to make tutorials available on programming, video production, animation, graphic design, and on software such as the Adobe Creative Cloud programs. jQuery for beginners is a how to series that teaches the jQuery framework to people who are just starting out learning programming. The course teaches how jQuery scripting can be made easy and teaches how to build many features on websites through behavior using jQuery. Creating behavior on websites with jQuery is easy and should not be seen as otherwise, which is why we want to explain the language in a easy to understand way for beginners. If you have suggestions on new courses, or specific lessons within existing courses you would like to see, then feel welcome to submit them in the comment section or in a private message. ALL suggestions will be seen, but not all will be replied to since we get quite a few every day.

The DOM: Style in the Header, Script in the Footer

01:53
The DOM: Style in the Header, Script in the Footer Maybe you've been told that links to style sheets (CSS) should be included in the header and that links to script (JS) should be included in the footer. Ever asked yourself why? If you've ever seen a webpage that loads the text first, then after a bit loads the formatting and style, you've seen a page that didn't have the links to style and script in the correct places. This all has to do with how the browser decides it's loaded enough information to display. There's an event called 'DOMContentLoaded', and once that event happens, whatever is loaded will be displayed. The DOM will tell the browser it's ready once the HTML is loaded, and sometimes the CSS and JS hasn't caught up. However, if you place the CSS in the header and the JS in the footer, you can ensure that all content will be loaded before the DOM triggers the 'DOMContentLoaded' event, the event that shows the user your content. This is a simple explaination, as most of these videos are. For more information, I really liked this resource: http://ablogaboutcode.com/2011/06/14/how-javascript-loading-works-domcontentloaded-and-onload/
