01:07
This is the BookOff/ Book Off San Diego store located in Kearny Mesa just off of Balboa. Book Off is a Japanese owned bookstore and one of the largest in Japan. They have several stores in the US especially in the Southern California area. The store Buys, Sells and trades books, DVD, video games, English & Japanese Manga and 2nd hand appliances & electronics. This is the best place to buy DVD's since some of the DVD's they sell can go as low as $1- $5 I have bought several books from this store and some friend were able to trade their old Nintendo 3Ds for cash. The store is pretty big there are many things to find especially if you are a Manga lover. Ive gotten tons of gift items from this store to send back to the Philippines at a discounted price

Biomimicry design, explained with 99% Invisible. Check them out here: https://99percentinvisible.org/ Subscribe to our channel here: http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Japan’s Shinkansen doesn’t look like your typical train. With its long and pointed nose, it can reach top speeds up to 150–200 miles per hour. It didn’t always look like this. Earlier models were rounder and louder, often suffering from the phenomenon of "tunnel boom," where deafening compressed air would rush out of a tunnel after a train rushed in. But a moment of inspiration from engineer and birdwatcher Eiji Nakatsu led the system to be redesigned based on the aerodynamics of three species of birds. Nakatsu’s case is a fascinating example of biomimicry, the design movement pioneered by biologist and writer Janine Benyus. She's a co-founder of the Biomimicry Institute, a non-profit encouraging creators to discover how big challenges in design, engineering, and sustainability have often already been solved through 3.8 billion years of evolution on earth. We just have to go out and find them. This is one of a series of videos we're launching in partnership with 99% Invisible, an awesome podcast about design. 99% Invisible is a member of http://Radiotopia.fm Additional imagery from the Biodiversity Heritage Library: https://www.flickr.com/photos/biodivlibrary/ Vox.com is a news website that helps you cut through the noise and understand what's really driving the events in the headlines. Tokyo's Secret Island Paradise | AOGASHIMA ★ ONLY in JAPAN

24:50
Jurassic Park may be the first thing that comes to mind when you see Aogashima Island from the air - but yes, THIS IS TOKYO! It's famous for having a volcano inside a volcano surrounded by dense jungle. It's also considered the smallest town in Japan and the hardest place in Japan to get to. There is no direct transportation to Aogashima. These facts are what make Aogashima the best kept secret in Tokyo! ★ The Ogasawara video is out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3TtGXAoTvA Travel 1000km further for Tokyo's distant island paradise! The island is unspoiled. The pristine jungles and beautiful ocean views are like scenes from the movies. HOW TO GET TO AOGASHIMA Air ▶︎ Haneda Airport (Tokyo) to Hachijojima / 50 minutes ▶︎ Helicopter to Aogashima - 20 minutes / 11,530 Yen Note: You have to take the first flight to catch the helicopter or spend the night. Only 1 helicopter flight per day. Sea (Ferry) ▶︎ Takeshiba Pier (Tokyo) to Hachijojima 11-12 hours / Tokai Kisen Line / ▶︎ Hachijojima to Aogashima / 3 hours / Izu Shoto Kaihatsu Line Note: The ferry to Aogashima is often canceled so don't rely on this if you need to be back to Tokyo for a flight etc. It can be delayed for as long as 1 week depending on weather! WHY IS THIS THE HARDEST PLACE TO GET TO? The town is located 200 meters up off the sea. There is no airport and this island is only accessible by helicopter and ferry. The port is one of the most challenging to dock at in the world so when the sea is rough or the wind is too strong, ferries are often canceled. Visitors may be stranded here for a week or more if the weather turns bad. MUST SEE PLACES on AOGASHIMA ★ Ao-Chu Shochu distillery ★ Aogashima heliport ★ The volcanic island steamer (for lunch) ★ The island sauna ★ Oyamatenbo Park (Observation Area) for the view over the crater and the sky at night ★ Aogashima Port ★ Maruyama & Shrine FOOD TO TRY ★ Torinabe (Chicken Soup Pot) ★ Ashitaba (an island leaf / herb that's used in cooking) ★ Island fish in season Note: you can ask your inn about trying these at scheduled meals THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT VISITING AOGASHIMA 1) You must have a reservation to stay somewhere before arriving. Lodging is limited. Call ahead, even for camping. 2) There is an ATM at the post office but come with cash just in case 3) Helicopters are often sold out a month in advance. Ferry tickets are easy to get but your departure date may not be convenient. 4) Walking is possible everywhere but many tourists rent a car. Other tourists may pick you up if you hitchhike. It takes 80 minutes to walk from the heliport to Aogashima pier. URL: ▶︎ Aogashima's Official Page http://www.vill.aogashima.tokyo.jp/top.html ▶︎ Tokyo's Island Helicopter Service (Online Reservations) http://tohoair-tal.jp/ ▶︎ Ao-chu (青酎) Aogashima Island Shochu Brand http://ao-chu.com/ (Hotel / Inn) Onyado Tomotame / 御宿為朝 telephone: +81 4996-9-0410 owner: Kyoko-san (Japanese only) ▶︎ Aogashimamura Camping Ground telephone: 04996-9-0111 email contact: [email protected] Special thank you to Akira-san, Yoshino-san, Kyoko-san and Moemi-san and all the kind residents of Aogashima who made me feel a part of the island family! Second hand used treasure or junk? in Japan - Back to the past

15:22
+/- 1000¥ = $9 So you can buy used games for a buck and Playstation 2 for about $26 They have original Vinyls too. You can also find great selection of old amplituner and speakers. Laptops are not so attractive by price but tablets you can find interesting. I notice lots of junk but there are diamonds for example a "new alike" original NES with all accessories included. The cheapest things are under "JUNK" section and they are without warranty and with "no return policy", often without any accessories like ac adapter etc.

Check Out These Terrifying Japanese Monsters, Myths and Spirits

05:58
Japan has a rather rich folklore and mythological characters play a very big part in it. For centuries the tales of Yokai (so-called strange, supernatural creatures) were told and slowly expanded into every aspect of Japan's culture. Even today, stories and illustrations of these beasts are very captivating and could be encountered pretty much everywhere, from manga and anime to video games and brand labels. We've gathered some of the most interesting and quite terrifying mythological monsters of Japanese folklore. The Japanese are very much into their spirits. There are hundreds of them, many harmless, many tragic, and more than a few just mischievous. There actually aren't too many evil spirits wandering the country… but there are a few, and you don't want to mess with any of them. Here are 14 reasons to avoid Japanese relationships, Japanese bathrooms, Japanese babies and pretty much the entirety of Japan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Watch More Of My Most Popular And Trending Videos: Artist Transforms Disney Princesses Into Anime Art https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmRrw-ggwTM Artist Turns People Into Awesome 3D Pixar-Like Characters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2UUlPXyEac Ridiculous & Funny Examples Of Cartoon Logic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xNt8CE1ufc Pokemon In Real Life: Hyper Realistic Version Of Pokemon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeehjKGGois Hilarious Comics With Unexpected Dark Endings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18ROTPmQiS8 40 Non-Human Cartoon Characters As Humans https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pISJx2armBo 10 Famous Cartoons Rip off From Other Countries https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdhUK-5WGRs Disney Comics That Will Ruin Your Childhood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alkdEbk5K5c How Cartoon Icons Would Look In Real Life Creepy Compilation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVJ3S2Ml71A Kids Book Colored By Adults | Results Are Creepy & Hilarious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pS1NEuQTDw Artist Turns Pokemon Into Gorgeous Human Form https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_Mpy8YceDY Disney Princesses Transformed Into Asian Style Illustrations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGnCl6vxyag Artist Creates Cute Comics About His Life With His Wife https://youtu.be/i-_qf18Ol1Y Artist Illustrates Everyday Life With Her Boyfriend And Cat https://youtu.be/0j4legivzNM Artist Illustrate Her Everyday Problems As A Woman https://youtu.be/-lCrImleZms Sad Comics With Unexpected Dark And Twisted Endings https://youtu.be/y0zwnRYoQN8 Ridiculous & Funny Examples Of Video Games Logic https://youtu.be/rVKNi8Pjc70 If Planets Were people: Funny Earth-Chan Memes Compilation https://youtu.be/d5V6bG2uu5M Artist Turns Your Childhood Characters Into Scary Monsters https://youtu.be/BcP7WuzBVHM ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBSCRIBE: http://www.youtube.com/c/DailyFunFacts Note ▶ ✅ I do not own the image or the music in my video. Is it Possible to Become Japanese?

10:13
I read this book called Tokyo Underworld, which covered the life of Nick Zappetti. It's honestly been 15 years since I read it, but I still remembered feeling that it was super difficult for a foreigner to become Japanese. It turns out I was wrong, and becoming legally Japanese is a straightforward process that can be undertaken by anyone. I talked with Eido Inoue, a former American who became Japanese in 2010. Since naturalizing he's run a website (http://bit.ly/becojapan) educating people on how to naturalize and become a citizen of Japan. The interview was so fascinating, that I have posted the mostly uncut hour-long version of the interview on the LWIF X channel at https://youtu.be/Yj855k5066o. What It's Like Living In A Small Japanese Town

07:45
So many people wish to travel around Japan and of course, live there. But an overriding question that is not answered clearly is what must life be like if you life in a small Japanese town. Many might think it would be alienating when in reality if your search is for something authentic this is where you want to be. Not only that because people who usually living in Japan are inclined to live in city centers your chance to live in the countryside is far more unique. In this video I discuss the positives and negatives of each. And how, like you may not expect, living in either the countryside or the cities in Japan has inherent strengths and weaknesses. I've seen comments on another one of my videos about low carb saying something like "Oh sure, you can lose weight on low carb, which is why all the rice eating Japanese people are so thin, right?" Why Japan's Homeless are Different from North America's (Part 1)

06:26
One day while walking around Shinjuku, a major hub for government and business in Tokyo, Japan, I noticed a shelter built by a homeless man. It looked semi-permanent, but more importantly, had solar panels on it. I thought this was very different than the homeless I encountered in my former city of Vancouver, Canada, so I started to investigate homelessness in Japan. I was lucky enough to interview Professor Tom Gill, who has researched homelessness and other societal issues in Japan for many years. This is part 1 of a series of videos I'm making about the homeless in Japan. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave in the comments. Thanks for watching. Unit 731 Japanese Human Experimentation: Warning This Will Stick With You

41:17
IF YOU LIKE THIS VIDEO WATCH THE BRAND NEW ONE IN HD https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=JBx59FETU30&feature=vm IT GOES FURTHER IN DEPTH ON UNIT 731. POST WW2 - THE LAST REMAINING SURVIVOR - WHAT DID THE U.S. DO WITH THE DATA? One of the lesser known atrocities of the 20th century was committed by the Imperial Japanese Army’s Unit 731. Some of the details of this unit’s activities are still uncovered. This webpage was set up to collect and organize the information known to date about Unit 731 and present it to anyone interested. Unit 731 Complex For 40 years, the horrific activities of “Unit 731” remained one the most closely guarded secrets of World War II. It was not until 1984 that Japan acknowledged what it had long denied – vile experiments on humans conducted by the unit in preparation for germ warfare. Deliberately infected with plague, anthrax, cholera and other pathogens, an estimated 3,000 of enemy soldiers and civilians were used as guinea pigs. Some of the more horrific experiments included vivisection without anesthesia and pressure chambers to see how much a human could take before his eyes popped out. Unit 731 was set up in 1938 in Japanese-occupied China with the aim of developing biological weapons. It also operated a secret research and experimental school in Shinjuku, central Tokyo. Its head was Lieutenant Shiro Ishii. The unit was supported by Japanese universities and medical schools which supplied doctors and research staff. The picture now emerging about its activities is horrifying. Manchurian Plaguevi ctims 1910-1911 Manchurian Plaguev ictims 1910-1911 According to reports never officially admitted by the Japanese authorities, the unit used thousands of Chinese and other Asian civilians and wartime prisoners as human guinea pigs to breed and develop killer diseases. Many of the prisoners, who were murdered in the name of research, were used in hideous vivisection and other medical experiments, including barbaric trials to determine the effect of frostbite on the human body. To ease the conscience of those involved, the prisoners were referred to not as people or patients but as “Maruta”, or wooden logs. Before Japan’s surrender, the site of the experiments was completely destroyed, so that no evidence is left. Then, the remaining 400 prisoners were shot and employees of the unit had to swear secrecy. The mice kept in the laboratory were then released, which could have cost the lives of 30,000 people, since the mice were infected with the bubonic plague, and they spread the disease. Few of those involved with Unit 731 have admitted their guilt. http://unit731.org

Visiting a Famous Japanese Hot Spring Town: Kusatsu

14:38
I love Japanese onsens (hot springs), and my family... well, they like them. I had heard about Kusatsu and asked my wife to see if she could book a trip out there for us. She delivered and we rented a car and drove a few hours, stopping a few places along the way, before we reached our ryokan. Not knowing that much about Kusatsu, I think the family was all pleasantly elated to find a hot spring town that was beyond our expectations. There are some places that the kids visit where they whine about walking here and there, but since everything was so close and in walking distance of the town, and because there was a lot more snow than we expected, all the family had a fantastic time... except for poor Mummy, who was coming down with a cold/fever. Special thanks to our friends and fellow YouTubers Jess and Hai from Notes of Nomads for their photos. Japan’s Entrepreneurs: Born or Made? | Casey Wahl | TEDxAGU

12:44
Entrepreneurship is a learnable skill. Risk tolerance is more innate. In Japan, the level of entrepreneurial activity is very low. Lower than Suriname at 3.84%. But this is increasing, because entrepreneurship can be taught; the more people are exposed to it, the more likely they will become entrepreneurs. By exposing more students to internships at startups, coming in to contact with more entrepreneurs that are friends or families, or having unusual experiences abroad will greatly increase the chances of new entrepreneurs being made in Japan. This will create jobs, and make Japan a more dynamic force in the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. WHAT A JAPANESE APARTMENT IS LIKE | IN THE COUNTRYSIDE

16:27
A lot of people know what it's like to live in a large city in Japan. As a rule cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, or Nagoya are highly desirable. But what about the countryside? Due to the extremely well developed and maintained mass transit of Japan living in the countryside should be an option considered by more people. With all the benefits like lower rent, more space, and generally far better price performance for your money, it's definitely an avenue worth exploring. In this video I take you on a tour of what could be considered a typical 2LDK apartment in Japan. I also do a break down of the cost of living there with details such as rent and utilities. PLEASE SUBSCRIBE AND LIKE AND COMMENT : ) Hello everyone! Sorry for my slow uploads, I've been very busy at university. In this Vlog I just show behind the scenes of my photoshoot with Japanese Larme brand Sukoshi Fushigi. I first met designer Sakurada Fantastica during Miss iD in 2015! I was the first runner up of Kodansha's annual Miss iD 2015 event, and she asked me to model for her.I finally did and I will be in a showcase at the end of August for her brand. Sakurada is famous for her viral song/group AYAMAN JAPAN and their song Poipoipoi which happened around 2011. She's now settled down with her daughter and rapper husband while managing her lame brand.

Japan Trip: Uji Tea Japan’s top brand tea best taste with wagashi, Kyoto

00:55
Japan Trip: Uji Tea Japan’s top brand tea best taste with wagashi, Kyoto Green tea is a drink which is now consumed everywhere by anyone in Japan, but when it first arrived from China in the 700s, no one except for a handful of priests and noblemen knew the drink. A few hundred years later during the Kamakura Period (1192-1333), green tea leaves were imported from China and cultivated in Uji. It was when it started to gain popularity among the nobility. Eisai, the Zen priest who imported Zen Buddhism to Japan from China, spread the benefits of the beverage in a book he wrote and provided direction to the Uji priests about tea plant cultivation and preparation. Tea drinking later became popular among the masses, and Uji gained a reputation for excellent tea production as one of the first places to start tea cultivation. Today, Uji's tea is still regarded as one of the highest quality tea. Tour of Nerium Japan's Brand Center in Tokyo

03:15
I shot this video for a friend that I missed during my third visit to Tokyo, but figured I should share it with the world! I am so honored to support the launch of Nerium Japan! Our beautiful brand center is located in Shibakoen. We launched July 19, 2016 and our team has helped ten people achieve a live better bonus ($50,000 In U.S. Dollars) within the first 60 days of our launch in Japan. This means that we helped many people have a solid additional stream of income to change their lives. We one of the fastest growing organizations in Japan! We are fanatic about helping others win and love hearing stories of how Nerium is helping families and individuals around the world! I started with Nerium about three years ago ago in order to cut down the extremely long hours in the television industry after I had my son. I was working on three tv shows, including my own lifestyle show when I became pregnant. I love the industry and am still in it, but yearned for more time with my family. In six short months, I was able to become a stay at home mom because of Nerium and earned a brand new Lexus! My goal is to help people great their own Nerium story! Whether it's for organic groceries or a better school-- to earning a car bonus to retiring a spouse. Your journey is my journey and there is nothing greater than helping others accomplish their goals! Let's connect! Send me your info by going to Chenine.SuccessToday.com. Your information goes only to me and will not be shared! I look forward to meeting you and perhaps traveling the world with you.
