Ian Parker - Funny How, album Inside, 2003. Ian Parker (born Ian James Parker, 13 December 1976, Birmingham, England) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. Born in Birmingham, he was brought up in nearby Stourbridge. Inspired by The Beatles, he began playing guitar at the age of 8. His interest in music flourished during his teenage years and following the completion of a BSc (HONS) degree in Psychology at the University of Derby, his musical career began. In his early teens he began to focus heavily on electric guitar after hearing the music of Jimi Hendrix and Cream. From here Parker became passionately interested the blues, studying the music and its history at every opportunity. In 2003 he recorded his debut album, Inside for the German blues label Ruf Records. He went on to release a further three albums and two live DVDs through the company. In addition to his interest in the blues, Parker has always considered himself to be a singer-songwriter. His influences are far-ranging and his music has largely revolved around a balance between his song-writing and his blues guitar playing. His most recent recording, a five track EP called Demons and Doubters released through Equator Music, marked a subtle change in direction away from blues-rock towards a more mainstream guitar-lead singer-songwriter identity. *Happy Birthday, Ian!* Notes* For this video editing I used videos and photo materials of Search Google server. The Ian Parker Band live | Rockpalast | 2004 | Setlist 1. The Love I Have 00:00 2. Funny How 06:04 3. Interview 10:35 4. It Hurts A Man 13:27 5. Everything And More 19:40 6. Interview 24:33 7. Got No Answer 25:52 8. Expressed through a distinctive bitter-sweet vocal delivery, Ian's songs hold nothing back. His ability and willingness to share with his audience, naked honesty and genuine emotion, is what sets him apart. He has also developed a distinctively expressive guitar style, which perhaps explains his ever-growing popularity in the blues world, but the truth is he isn't strictly a blues artist. Roots music continues to form the foundation of his sound, but there are no boundaries in place at this point in Ian’s artistic journey, and the emphasis lies firmly on entertaining everyone present, not just the guitar fans. Ian’s career took off in the summer of 2003, when he signed to Ruf Records following a personal introduction to US record producer, David Z (Prince - Purple Rain). His debut album 'INSIDE' (Ruf1094) was released in October of that year. In March 2004, Ian appeared on Germany's top live music TV show, 'Rockpalast'. and a live DVD of his incendiary performance was released in June 2005, entitled '…WHILST THE WIND' (Ruf3007). In addition, a live album documenting Ian's performance in Hannover during his December 2004 European Tour, was also released in June 2005 under the same title (Ruf1102). Both releases met with high critical acclaim and continue to notch up impressive sales. In September 2005, Ian wrote and recorded five songs for a Ruf Records project album, 'PILGRIMAGE' (Ruf1112) which was recorded in Clarksdale Mississippi and Memphis Tennessee, and released in January 2006. The release of ‘PILGRIMAGE’, extended Ian's touring activities throughout Europe and importantly, into the US. On return from America in September 2005, Ian began a lengthy artistic process based around his rediscovery of the roots artists who had inspired him as a teenager. The resulting album, 'WHERE I BELONG' (Ruf1120), was released in January 2007 and produced by Matt Butler, whose extensive CV includes none other than Sir Paul McCartney. The ensuing promotional tour culminated with the recording of ‘THE OFFICIAL BOOTLEG’ (MT006) which captures the highlights of the final UK leg of a grueling eighteen month long tour of Europe and the UK. Ian spent much of 2008 writing new material, and at the beginning of 2009, under the management of Ralph Baker of Equator Music (Jeff Beck, Toni Iommi), sessions began in Bath’s famous Riverside Studios. The resulting five track EP, ‘DEMONS AND DOUBTERS’ (Equator), was recorded under the guidance and supervision of Clive Deamer (Robert Plant, Portishead, Massive Attack), and Jon Jacobs (who learned his trade under Sir George Martin at Air Studios). Ian chose to tour 'Demons and Doubters' solo, embarking upon tours of the UK, Europe, and the US in this format between 2009 and 2012. Highlight appearances include a headlining spot at the famous Bayfront Festival in Duluth, Minnesota in August 2009, and his debut outing at The Royal Albert Hall in London in May 2011. In February 2011, his performance at The Globe in Cardiff was recorded and released soon after. 'The Bare Bones' features eleven songs, some old, some new, and remains his only all acoustic recording to date. In December 2012, Ian assembled a new band to perform a special 20th Anniversary concert in Wolverhampton, having performed his first pubic shows back in 1992 aged just 16. More shows with line-up are now scheduled for 2013. ✔ https://www.facebook.com/Ian-Parker-159785787779/ _______________________________________ * TO OWNERS & COPYRIGHT HOLDERS: Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
