Chinese Takeout-Style Tofu And Broccoli Servings: 2-4 INGREDIENTS 14 ounces firm tofu 1½ teaspoons sesame oil, divided 1 teaspoon vegetable oil 3 cups broccoli florets 3 tablespoons vegetable broth 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 teaspoon grated ginger 1 tablespoon rice vinegar 1-2 tablespoons cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water) ¼ cup soy sauce 2 tablespoons agave syrup 1½ teaspoons toasted sesame seeds Optional: Green Onion Sesame seeds PREPARATION 1. Wrap tofu in two layers of paper towels and place on a plate. Put another plate on top of the tofu to weigh it down, and microwave for 2-3 minutes, or until drained. 2. After microwaving, carefully unwrap tofu and slice into ½-1 inch cubes. Pat each cube dry. 3. In a large nonstick skillet, heat vegetable oil and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add cubes of tofu and cook on all sides until golden brown, approximately 2-4 minutes per side, then remove from pan and set aside. 4. Add broccoli to the hot pan and add vegetable broth. Cover with a lid and reduce heat to medium-low. Steam for 5 minutes. 5. Remove lid and turn heat back up to medium-high. 6. Add garlic, grated ginger, and ½ teaspoon sesame oil. Stir to soften. 7. Add in soy sauce, agave, sesame seeds, and cornstarch slurry. Stir until thickened to desired consistency. 8. Add tofu back into broccoli and sauce mixture. 9. Serve over white rice and garnish with green onion and sesame seeds. 10. Enjoy! The whole process takes around 3-4 hours. They import nigari (a coagulating agent) from Japan. It makes the tofu extra soft and tasty. When you take a bite of tofu here, you can tell the difference. Chinese Stir Fry Tofu & Vegetables Recipe (Chinese Vegetarian Recipe) Welcome to Xiao's Kitchen. My name is Xiao Wei, ever since my Mother taught me how to cook at an early age, I have always had a strong passion for Cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and pick-up new Asian/Chinese recipes. You don't have to be vegetarian to embrace tofu as an ingredient. Made from soya beans, it's not only high in protein and calcium, but it has an exceptional ability to absorb flavours through spices and marinades, making a truly tasty addition to a stir-fry. Reno recommends adding it to your meals several times each week to aid weight loss. I started this description with benefits of soy & tofu that is made of soy milk because most of are not only naive to the very easy & simple method of making tofu (soy paneer) at home but also to the benefits & its role In weight loss and overall healthy diet. Ingredients to make homemade Tofu/ Soyabean ka Paneer :- 1.5 cup (125g) soy Soya bean seeds Water as required Juice of 2 lemon/vinegar Method to make homemade Tofu /Soyabean ka Paneer Soak 1.5 cups of soybeans in water overnight. Next day Discard water and rinse soybeans in warm water Remove skins as best you can. Add soybeans and 4 cups (1 litre) water to blender. Blend until smooth. Strain the blended mixture using sieve, cotton or muslin cloth Remove the excess foam if you want to, or leave it like that. Heat the strained milk in a heavy-bottom pan, bring it to a boil. Remove from the heat and keep it aside In a small bowl take juice of 2 lemon ( at room temperature) mix it with 2 spoon of warm water. ( you can also use vinegar) add this to soy milk gradually keep stirring. Within 5-8 minutes Milk will start the curdle. Now take a large strainer (sieve) and cover it with a cotton, muslin or cheese cloth. Now pour the curdled milk on top. Fold the fabric over the curds and place a weight on top to begin pressing out the liquid. Allow the mixture to be pressed by the weight for 45minutes - 1 hour or until it holds together. Remove the block of tofu from the mold. And cut it into cubes. If you don't plan to consume the tofu the same day that you make it, store it in an air tight container in the refrigerator.

Heat oil in skillet or wok and add Tofu. 2. Add minced onion, ginger and garlic and Serrano chilies whole. 3. Add some micro cabbage and sautéed wood ear mushrooms. 4. Add sweet soy sauce and cooking wine, add dark soy sauce and finish with sweet chili sauce. 5. Heat through and take out into serving dish and garnish with scallions and red peppers. The soaking time depends on the water temperature. Summer: 25°C/77°F 10 hours Spring, Autumn: 15°C/59°F 20 hours Winter: 5°C/41°F 30 hours 2. Blend the soybeans and water in a mixer to make namago. (Namago is the Japanese word for that specific blended mixture of soybeans and water). 3. Boil 1600ml water in a large pan or pot and add the namago and stir for about 10 minutes. Make sure not to burn the namago at the bottom of the pan. 4. Turn off the heat and strain the namago with a filter cloth to get soy milk. The leftover is called okara and it's very healthy. I normally use it for making cookies. 5. Mix 20ml nigari (or lemon juice) and 50ml water together to make the coagulant for the soy milk. ("Your coagulant is a substance that will curdle the soy milk. You can use acid, like lemon juice or vinegar, or salt. Nigari, which is magnesium chloride, is popular in Japan, and calcium chloride is popular in North America." -huffingtonpost) 6. Heat up the soy milk and keep the temperature at 75°C. Add the nigari-water and stir gently. Do NOT mix too much. Turn off the heat and leave it for about 10 minutes. 7. While resting the soy milk, prepare a container for shaping the tofu. You can make holes in the bottom of a paper drink carton or tupperware, or you can just use your filter cloth and tie it up tighly to shapen the tofu as well. -Sukiyaki Sauce- 1. Add 100ml sake and 100ml mirin in a pot and boil it. 2. Add the sugar and soy sauce, and let the sugar melt. -Sukiyaki- 1. Melt the beef fat* (or just some slices of fatty beef) and cook the green onion (if you have it) in the sukiyaki pot to add flavor to the sauce. Green onion tastes so much sweeter and more flavorful when you fry it first. 2. Add the sauce and heat it up. Then add tofu, konjac, mushrooms, and anything that takes longer to cook than your other vegetables. 3. Finally, place everything else. Sukiyaki is a shared Japanese dish where everyone ladles out some of the broth and food into their own bowls. Traditionally, sukiyaki is eaten with a raw beaten egg added to your own bowl, but that might be difficult for you depending on how safe raw eggs are considered where you live. I normally don't eat it with egg so I can enjoy the flavor of beef and vegetables, but if you get a chance to eat sukiyaki, please give it a try! *In Japan when you buy beef there is usually a bucket nearby where you can also take a cube of beef fat free of charge. If you want you can buy this separately, or you can use beef that has fat on it as well.
