10 Unique Animals You Won’t Believe Exist

09:42
10 strange and amazing animals that you have probably never heard of. Nature is truly full of surprises! We live in the twenty-first century, and all continents have already been discovered, all secrets of our planet revealed, all mountain peaks conquered. Just when you think you have seen it all, some new bizarre creature makes an appearance instantly restoring your faith in the impossible! TIMESTAMPS Mangalitsa Pig, a.k.a. “a pig in sheep’s clothing” 0:50 Rhinopithecus or golden snub-nosed monkey 1:33 Emperor tamarin 2:13 Patagonian Mara 3:04 Fluffy cow 3:52 Markhor Goat 4:44 Raccoon dog 5:23 Blue Footed Booby 6:25 Malayan Colugo 7:13 Venezuelan Poodle Moth 8:09 BONUS 8:56 SUMMARY - The birthplace of this curly-haired pig is Hungary where it was discovered in the mid-19th century. Due to the fleece covering this animal, it resembles a sheep, therefore, such a name! - The name of this species is roxellana, and there is a story behind it. It is believed that they were called this way after the supposedly snub-nosed courtesan of Suleiman the Magnificent (a 16th century Sultan of the Ottoman Empire). - They were called like this because of the resemblance of their mustache to that of German Emperor Wilhelm II. - Patagonia Mara is the fourth largest rodent on our planet. There are several interesting facts about them. Females often put offsprings into crèches for safety. - Fluffy cows are looked after by people whose work is to wash, dry and use products to style these animals, so they look as fluffy as they do! It is necessary to maintain them daily, and it will take months of regular grooming until they get this lovely look of kids toys. - If you see a creature which looks as if it’s trying to catch an alien radio signal from space, it’s most likely Markhor Goat. They can grow as long as 6 ft from head to tail! - If you can’t decide if you want to have a dog or a raccoon as a pet, we have just the thing for you - raccoon dog! Despite having raccoon-like markings on their fur, they are not very closely related to the North American raccoon. - Blue Footed Booby are to catch your eye if you ever visit the Galapagos Islands. They can look a bit clumsy and comical on land, but they are excellent at flying and swimming. - Colugo has a large gliding membrane (like a flying squirrel), and they can glide for long distances between trees standing far apart. - Even if the Poodle Moth may look as if it lives in Antarctica with all this fur, in fact, it comes from Venezuela, a tropical country. Its hairs don’t serve for heating. BONUS Cloud Antelope! This species lives in the clouds (that’s why such a name)! Its bright blue fur is the reflection of cloudless blue skies in the area of its habitat. Its diet consists of sun rays and candies... Did you know that every culture has its own word for the sound a cat makes? Homing instinct in cats 9:45 #cats #catfacts #catlovers Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - The Mesopotamians and ancient Egyptians were the first to domesticate cats. Since these cultures were dependent on agriculture, the enemies of their livelihood were the animals that ate their crops. - Since Egyptians thought of cats so highly, they accessorized their pets with jewels. The richer and more aristocratic the owner, the bigger the jeweled collar their cat wore. - In ancient Egypt, anyone found guilty of killing a cat, even accidentally, was sentenced to death. - Egyptians thought that Bastet manifested physically as a cat and protected Egypt from invasion, just like a cat protects its owner’s home. - In Slavic mythology, it was believed that a barn cat named Ovinnik was the protector of crops and livestock. - It was only around the Middle Ages when cat folklore turned dark. During this time, cats were thought to be accomplices of witches and black magic. - You’ve likely heard about the knack cats have for always landing on their feet no matter how far they fall. This is called a “righting reflex,” - Cats can’t taste sweet foods, but they do have an extra organ that allows them to taste scents in the air. Apparently, that’s why they stare at you sometimes with their mouths open! - Cats have outstanding balance that’s only made better by their long tails. - Cats are carnivores, which (aside from cleaning themselves) is why they have that rough sandpaper tongue. It’s supposed to help them clean every last morsel of flesh from an animal bone. - Cats can drink seawater. Unlike humans, cats have kidneys that can filter out the salt from seawater. - The ridges on a cat’s noses are like fingerprints for people. That means that no two kitty noses are exactly alike! - Cats purr at a frequency of about 26 purrs per second. AMAZING Animal Superpowers!

Check out these amazing animal superpowers! You won't believe what these animals are capable of! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "Most TERRIFYING Sea Monsters Ever!" video here: https://youtu.be/B9aPB6KB504 Watch our "Most DANGEROUS Beaches In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/LW-PrAyESq4 Watch our "Mythical Creatures That Actually EXISTED!" video here: https://youtu.be/_5wStYZt3Tg List of amazing animal superpowers: 9. Hairy Frog This frog breaks its own bones to grow claws. Also known as the “Horror Frog” or the “Wolverine Frog," (with good reason), it is located in central Africa. Its name comes from the hair that grows on its sides. It's actually not really hair but thin skin-like structures that protrude from its body that looks like hair. But what makes this frog so amazing isn’t its hair. It’s its claws. It's claws are made of bone that it can project through its skin by breaking its toe bones. When the frogs feels threatened or under attack the frog will push these broken bones out of its feet to produce claws. As the bone pushes outward, a bone nodule closer to the outside of the foot adds a sharp point to the frogs’ bones making them look and act just like claws. And unlike all other animals with claws, the “Wolverine Frog’s” claws are not covered in a protective coating of keratin. These frogs are attacking with their actual bones. A frog with similar superpowers was also discovered recently in Japan. Known as the Otton frog, it also conceals a retractable spike for fighting. Scientist aren’t certain if the bones ever retract after they have broken through the skin but considering the “Wolverine” frog’s amazing ability, it's likely that over time the bones recess back into the foot, until they are needed again. 8. The Mantis Shrimp It might be tiny, but this little shrimp packs a massive punch. Even though they are only 4 inches long, they are one of the strongest animals in the world. The Mantis shrimp have clubs they use to punch and destroy their prey. The shrimp has developed a complex muscular structure that actually winds up the shrimp’s punching arm like a spring. When the shrimp is ready to attack, it releases the spring-loaded club with the force of a shot. The punch accelerates over 50 mph with a force of over 330 pounds. That's up to 2500 times the shrimp's own weight. Scientists have to keep these shrimp in thick plastic tanks because their punch can easily smash glass. If a person could hit that hard, they could break steel. Besides the actual clubs, the force and speed the shrimp uses to attack creates bubbles that are so strong that they act like a shockwave, stunning the prey first then knocking it down. In essence, a Mantis shrimp punch acts and feels like multiple hits, even though it’s just one stroke. In order to punch that hard without breaking their clubs, mantis shrimp have a special shock absorbent core called a bouligand structure. This keeps small cracks from breaking completely and researchers are trying to imitate this structure to design thin, light materials. 7. The Immortal Jellyfish Known as the Benjamin Button of the sea, these tiny jellyfish transform from an adult back into a baby and they can do it over and over again. They are barely visible to the human eye, with an adult jelly reaching an average of 4.5mm, about the size of your pinky nail (0.18 inches). What makes this animal so amazing, is the fact that it can live forever. They can live and die per usual but if they sense some kind of crisis like starvation or physical injury, the immortal jellyfish can transform all of its existing cells into a younger state. The jellyfish turns itself into a blob, then a polyp colony which is the first stage of jellyfish life. This colony can spawn hundreds of genetically identical jellyfish. Because of their ability to change their cellular structure, scientists have been studying the tiny jellyfish in hopes of helping people who suffer from cellular disease. This continual cycle of regeneration or self-cloning is what makes the jellyfish, in essence, the only known animal known to live forever.
