Tip #1: Focus on one product. You do not need to be selling millions of products like Amazon to do well. I met a lady who makes high heels more comfortable selling insoles. She has one product, and that's it. Do you know how much she makes? Well into the seven figures per year. You don't need a lot of products to do well. If you're on Shopify, you can use Oberlo, and that'll help make it, so you don't have to worry about the logistics. If you're only doing one product, your life becomes so much easier. Focus on one product that solves a pain point. #2: Upsell and downsell. It's easier to get someone who has bought from you once to spend more money with you than it is to get new people to buy from you. If you're selling insoles that make women's shoes nice and comfortable, your upsell could be a pack of three instead of just one. That's an easy upsell. Doing simple things like that will increase your lifetime value, which will open up more possibilities. #3: Advertise. Facebook advertising and Google AdWords both work extremely well in e-commerce marketing. Facebook ads and Google ads are a great way to boost your e-commerce sales, and you if you're not sure where to get started with Facebook ads or Google ads, leave a comment below and I'll answer you, and I'll give you feedback on how to run the perfect Facebook ad campaign or a Google AdWords campaign. #4: Leverage subscriptions. Make sure you offer subscription options. For example, if you're selling makeup or lipstick, people are gonna run out of it. The question is just when? So why not give them an option where they can subscribe and continually get new makeup? If you're using Shopify, you can use a tool called Recharge to make your product a subscription. #5: Recover abandoned shoppers. In 2017, roughly 75.6% of shopping carts were abandoned. So, you need to make them come back and buy. How do you do that? Recovering abandonment solutions, such as collecting their emails. When someone's buying from you, you're probably collecting their name and email first before you're showing the credit card information. You can do things like exit intent offers, using tools like Hello Bar, where you show them an exit offer saying, hey, thinking about leaving? Put in your name and email and I'll send you a 10% off coupon or a free shipping coupon. #6: Optimize your checkout process. Baymard did a study on checkout pages. They found when companies optimize their checkout pages, they made an extra 260 billion, that's not million, that's billion with a B, extra dollars. Don't forget to optimize your checkout process. The way you do that is by first removing unnecessary fields. Why would you ask someone for their name and email and address multiple times? That's unnecessary. Keep it simple. The other way you can optimize your checkout process is by making it two-step. #7: Leverage a referral program. If someone's buying from your e-commerce site, they probably know other people have the same problem and need your solution. Create a referral program, and you can do this through ReferralCandy. You can do simple things like, get 20 bucks when you refer someone that also signs up and buys. The key with a referral program is to incentivize both the person giving the referral and the person accepting the referral. Follow these seven tips, and you should generate at least 50 plus percent more in sales. Leave a comment below and say, hey, here's my e-commerce store. I'll respond telling you which one you should do first, second, et cetera, so that way, you're doing the ones first that are gonna create the biggest ROI. E-commerce businesses are seated with numerous challenges and opportunities with the evolving world wide web. Competition from established brick and mortars as well as millions of other online start-ups can make for a difficult set of challenges for a new eCommerce business. More than any other business, Toronto based eCommerce organizations must place a premium on their web presence. But many eCommerce websites make the mistake of pouring all their time and energy into the look and feel of their website, while wholly neglecting the full customer experience and channel engagement of their website, product and overall brand. Five Tips for eCommerce Websites: #1 Good Product and Pricing – Obviously, most startups cannot afford to have a product selection like Amazon. Don’t think that having an enormous selection of products is the key to success. Limiting your online product selection will allow your customers to quickly find what they are looking for. What this means is product selection should be carefully thought out and strategized. And always remember: trying to source tons of inventory can have its own logistical nightmares that can cause order delays and customer frustration. Definitely consider chopping down your selection and your price points. #2 Website Design and User Experience – Your website doesn’t need to be pretty, it needs to engage. Engagement is key. Ecommerce design is about driving prospects into transactions with little or no frustration, while building trust, enjoyment and comfort with a brand. Ensure that customers can browse, socially share and understand your products. The design of the product gallery should be easy to navigate and intuitive for the most part. Study drop off rates for all pages within the site to ensure that the website navigation is clear and that users have both the ability to browse and navigate to specific interests. #3 Online Merchant Account – The biggest advantages for a merchant account are the reduced fees and custom return policies. The delayed cash flow from modern third party gateways like Paypal will slow down the shipping process. With most e-commerce solutions it’s easy enough to change how you’re getting paid. With WooCommerce it’s as simple as inputting your new merchant account credentials. I recommend every new eCommerce business to accept payments with an online merchant account. #4 Improve your Online Customer Service – Yes, the website provides opportunities for customer service. Consider providing helpful hints during the buying process, an easy-to-understand exchange policy, clearly articulated and accessible content information, usage instructions and supplementary content. Don’t forget social media. It is vital that you personally engage customers and prospects through all channels with more than just sales copy. Be helpful. Answer questions. Support their buying process and try to win them as long-term brand advocates. Remember that businesses with great customer engagement will also win favor with Google, and those that have a poor customer experience will be punished by Google. Authenticity is key! Don’t just write fake reviews, Google is on the hunt for these as well. Your website and marketing needs to provide an memorable customer experience. #5 Fast Shipping – You have to deliver on your promise and quickly! A survey from Reuters for showed that Amazon didn’t always deliver on time. In fact, 10 percent of the nearly 1,700 consumers surveyed who chose the two-day shipping option on Amazon orders between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31 said their orders did not arrive within two days. Amazon denies that these statistics are accurate, claiming they don’t match up with their figures. I think the Christmas shopping season of 2015 is going to be a challenge for all eCommerce retailers. Balancing the requirement for on-time delivery and relatively speedy delivery versus consumers’ desire not to pay a lot for delivery — on the one hand, if you want to draw in consumers and sales, free shipping is extremely successful. But on the other hand, you have to deal with the rising costs and the challenge of on-time delivery. Nowadays, website development limitations are just an excuse. How New E-Commerce Models Are Changing the Game for Wine Brands

At the Conference Sessions for USATT, held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in March 2016, there was a Panel that comprised of Jim Ryan, SVP of the beer division of Constellation Brands, Giacomo Turone, VP of wine and spirits importer Palm Bay International and Scott Ades, CEO of The Winebow Group. They were asked questions relevant to the attending audience comprising of distributors, importers, retailers and producers of alcoholic beverages. QUESTION: What impact are new e-commerce and delivery-in-an-hour models having? How are they changing the dynamics of the wine industry? There’s plenty of innovation happening in the wine and spirits industry, and new delivery-in-an-hour and e-commerce models have the potential to change the way brands can get their products to market. In the emerging new delivery-in-an-hour business model, Ades says, it’s all based on advertising. When a customer opens up the app of a wine-in-an-hour company, they are presented with a number of different options. What the consumer sees is based on advertising dollars, and that’s an area where smaller brands can’t compete. Only the largest brands have the budget to get on the front page of an app like Drizly, which promises one-hour liquor delivery. For now, says Giacomo Turone, a VP with the wine and spirits importer Palm Bay International, delivery-in-an-hour is not a major change for the industry. The major change is with the consumer. As Turone points out, “No retailer needs more product.” Thus, a small brand is not going to be able to convince a retailer to carry them based only on the delivery-in-an-hour value proposition. The participants of the recent panel discussion at the USATT Conference 2016 also discussed the structural reasons leading to the e-commerce model. There are too many SKUs and too many physical limitations for brick-and-mortar retailers. It’s too expensive to carry a lot of inventory. But that’s not the case with these e-commerce marketplaces. In fact, some of them have an “inventory-on-demand” model where inventory is no longer a limiting factor. Turone agrees that sales via e-commerce “definitely” fits with the business models of smaller brands. A large website can sell 300-400 cases in a very short period of time. For “unknown” brands, though, it place even more emphasis on telling their story online. If consumers are basing their purchasing decision only on what they find online, they are going to make the decision to buy based on the overall story, as well as the supporting information – such as reviews and information on where to buy. Going forward, it will be interesting to see if these new e-commerce models lead to changes in the types of wines that are sold.
