The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) had the pleasure of collaborating with Maestro, Isainyani Ilaiyaraaja when he was in Singapore in August 2018 for his concert performance. With a full orchestra, including members of the Budapest Orchestra, he conducted one of his iconic songs 'Akkarai Seemai Azhaginiley” from the 1979 Tamil movie “Priya” that was filmed in Singapore. Nearly 40 years after the original song, it serves as the background score for Maestro Ilaiyaraaja taking in the sights and sounds of Singapore. The video shows the Maestro admiring the changing landscape of the Lion City. While the city has made remarkable developments over the years as a metropolis, it has also successfully retained some of its historical buildings. Song lyrics by Panju Arunachalam. Original song sung by Dr K.J Yesudas. Song sung in concert by Madhu Balakrishnan.
